Excellent customer service. The owner speaks English and his prices are far lower than the plethora of other "pharmacies" in 5th street. Normally opens at 12:00. read more

At this pharmacy the pharmacist was so kind and patient as I babbled my poor Spanish to him. He kindly looked up what I needed and I'm so thrilled that for 80 pesos (~2.00 USD) I obtained the RX I needed ( that in the US cost an additional $30 with great insurance). But let's not talk about big pharma. I recommend this pharmacy and it's conveniently located in the shopping mall with the movie theater!

Despite having a local physician prescription, we were turned away at almost every pharmacy outside…read morethe "ferry shopping area" with us being told "sorry." Our cab driver took us to all the major places. The following day, the doctor with help of the resort - were magically able to locate another med and have it delivered. It unfortunately turned me into a zombie and Spirit airlines refused to let a girl in a wheelchair on the plane. And also, the first med was found at the airport pharmacy. Generally this pharmacy was clean and had many items you would expect. I don't know if the lady at the back counter was a pharmacist or just the cashier, but it seemed they were wary and didn't want to get involved with foreigners.

The parking lot is huge and yes they have taxi, taxi if walking was too much in the heat. We walked the whole time and enjoyed it immensely. Upon entering you are greeted by security guards. Right in front are the souvenir and I do mean lots. We found souvenirs, booze, hot sauces, and Spanish peanuts!! The items were very reasonably priced in fact they have the same as on 5th Ave. lol Well some. The staff speak Spanish and very few speak English in fact we have not come across any staff that did to tell you the truth. So brush up on speaking Spanish!!! The tellers are friendly and there is a person that bags your groceries and you are required to tip. This location is a superstore, which carry groceries, clothes, household products and more. During our stay we will be returning.

The only thing I would say is the checkout can be very lengthy even when it's only a couple people. But I can see the workers are working hard which I appreciate. If you are new to Mexico, specially Playa del Carmen, then definitely go find your nearest Chedraui. They're literally the Walmart of Mexico!
One of the 2 large grocery stores on the island, this is like a small, one level, Walmart…read more First things first: There is a free restroom near the front doors to the left as you enter. Bring your own bags or buy more. There are ATMs near the entrance to get pesos from credit/debit cards. There is a security guard at the entrance monitoring all the comings and goings. You may be asked to check packages or bags you bring in with you. Remember to tip the bagging person, they don't get paid otherwise. Many of the department workers speak little English. The taxi stand is outside at the street. The man at a table will tell you which taxi to take. There are the usual sections of toiletries, household furnishings, fresh fruits and veggies, meats(out in the open without refrigeration) bakery, beer and wines and so on. Some flower bouquets. Eggs and most milk are not refrigerated here. One of the trickiest parts of shopping here if you don't speak Spanish is ...dairy products! There are many brands of yogurt, but finding YOUR particular home favorite or anything similar - best of luck! "Sin Azucar" means without sugar, but it could have other sweeteners. Without "gras" means fat free. Butter and margarine are hard to tell apart. I highly recommend the Google Translate App with camera: hold it up to the product and it will actually show the photo with the words in English (or other languages)!! One thing I appreciate is that high calorie foods have a warning label, on candy and cookies, for example. One thing I dislike is that nutritional information is so convoluted it is virtually impossible to decipher. There is not the uniformity of the nutritional content that we have in the US. There is information, but it may be per 100 ml and you are holding a 373 ml bottle that is intended as a one time drink, so a calculator is necessary if you want to know how much protein or calories it contains in total. For some reason, there is NO grape jelly here! Teas are not clearly labeled "caffeine-free," so bring your own or guess.
