When I got there, I was taken to where the part which was still in the engine bay for my final inspection and approval to purchase before they pulled it it out for me. Jay then pointed out every Pilot on the lot so I could find some spare bolts which she would probably have let me have for dirt cheap had I found any that I needed. Their prices were fair and everyone there was courteous, kind and helpful. I'll definitely be back again. Nice people make all the difference in the world. Jay and her staff demonstrated that to me. Before Grimes, I called another salvage yard , they said they had it. Drove 45 minutes and upon arrival they said they didn't have it and offered the part in diff color ! So I was happy Grimes had the part I wanted. Cons : prices are not cheap. And depending on who picks up the phone, they give you different prices on the same part. Also another con: we came on 2 Saturdays in a row. Each time they told ius, If you order and wait .. the wait time could be 2 hours minimum. Best to place the order and come back 2-3 hr later. There was a customer who was told to wait 1 hr.. in the end he waited 90 min and went ballistic coz Grimes wasted his time.

Took it to tire shop close by to be put on, they said they are slightly bent and not usable as they checked both on a rotating wheel. I asked if we can hammer and make it usable somehow, but they said its alloy cant be hammered as it will crack. Went back to the store to return. He said no return no refund. Made me go 5 times(2 hours) to look for a replacement wheel from a car that never existed. Tried to explain him I am no mechanic who can look at a wheel and figure out its good or bad. Left my money along with the two bent wheels for the Business OWNER!

My husband is restoring a 1957 and a 1967 Beetle so he gets all kinds of obscure stuff here. Who knew that the little things you push down to lock a door on a VW were so hard to find? He is using all authenic parts, no reproductions so it is taking a while to do, but Maxine seems to know where or how to find the stuff he needs. Kinda cool, really.
