Oscar telling us the story of the church
    Anna L.

I read other reviews on other websites and was worried about the 3 of us driving all the way out there. Our Spanish speaker called the day before and spoke to Oscar the pastor. She let him know we wanted to come out on our lunch break on Monday and he was happy to have us come by. It took us 35 minutes to get out there in the middle of nowhere Lancaster, CA. If you're in Lancaster or a Kill Bill fan or a fan of any of the other movies filmed there, then head over, but call ahead to give the pastor notice that you're coming . It's a seventh day Adventist church, not just a movie site. They get 5-50 congregants on Saturdays which is pretty amazing given how far out it is. I don't think you'll be able to "tour" the church on a Saturday so go on another day. And the reason Oscar parks his truck out front is because many tourists have done disrespectful things in the front of the church (posing naked for an impromptu photo shoot). Oscar is more than happy to tell you the spot's history about how it started as a box and then the movie studios added to it. The floors are original, the pews look newer, the exposed ceiling beams are original. The first windows are original; the studios put in the ones that are rounded at the top. The facade in front was built by the movie studios. When Oscar finished his story, he moved his truck so we could take pictures. He was happy to take pictures of us and gave us suggestions on poses. I'm thinking he's seen Kill Bill.

I know that there are many mixed reviews about this place and man who runs this church. I had a pleasant time here with Oscar and enjoyed some of the history behind this church. I was also surprised by the story that he shared that he called "his biggest mistake". For those who don't know about the story I would definitely recommend those to come and check this place out. It is a bit of a drive but we'll worth it if your a die hard fan. There was a truck blocking the church, but he was nice enough to move the truck in order for my family to take photos. He was overall a very nice person and allowed us to take photos without me even having to ask. Definitely had a great time

So who doesn't like the movie Kill Bill? The Bride in my world occupies the 3rd slot in bad assed female's (Only Project Alice and Ripley are higher). but enough of my nerding out. The Kill Bill church occupies an important spot in the story. The massacre there (including Samuel L. Jackson) set the entire revenge filled story into motion. Its a cool old building and its the very definition of distressed. But. First off unless you are a diehard fan, its really in the middle of nowhere. Skip that if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, its a few miles past that. From Palmdale its a good 35-45 minutes each way. The other thing is the mixed message. You have posters in the windows hyping the movie connection, yet a chain runs the building with no trespassing. I would have shelled out a bit for a tour etc. Unless you are a big fan you may want to pass on this one

Do not waste your time... Seriously. Photo opportunity completely ruined. Box truck out front. Barb wire fence. Random signage. And lastly, a very disgruntled resident. We've read that you can ask him if he minds moving the truck for a photograph. He charges $500 (not sure if he actually does charge, or if he was being a smart ass). Regardless... he's a real party pooper. We met some friends out there for a few snapshots while on our cross country roadtrip. He watched us like hawks. We really just wanted to see the church as we're huge Tarantino film fans. Anyhow, quite a damper. At least we have a funny story and this glorious photo.

Very cool place in the middle of nowhere. This church is featured in lot of films and music videos, along with car commercials. Oscar (the owner and pastor) opened us with welcome arms. He was a very nice person and informative. He gave us a brief history of the place and we got to walk inside and outside and take photos and gave a little donation. Highly recommend this church to others as this is a very unique experience.

We nailed it! pretty bad ass lol

I am surprised that no one knows that the kill bill church is in Lancaster. It's practically located in the middle of no where. I have came here 3 times again and I have a great photo session every time I came here. Across from the church, there's an abandoned bar look alike that's very rustic and is excellent for a photoshoot. Check out the photos! btw- it's an active church that's still working!

I just visited the Kill Bill Church today and I wanted to set the record straight regarding the negative reviews of the place and of the pastor that is in charge of it. Pastor Oscar Castenada was NOT a mean, grumpy person to deal with as some complainers would lead you to believe but rather very open and friendly who welcomed me into the church and was happy to talk about the site's history. He was also very accommodating in taking pictures of me and the church, including moving the truck parked in front out of the way. Pastor Castaneda will see you walking up to the church so just simply be sociable and friendly with him and he will do the same. I will totally come back here with my friends the next time!

Ok well it was dope minus the truck ! It's the only thing out here and you're going to block it ? Ok well sure but what ever ! Reason why the stars at least is because he opened up and gave us a tour and all kinds of history , he was the owner and told us he met cardi b and other people and if it wasn't for kill bill this wouldn't even be a church ! Wish the truck wasn't there but grateful

Interior of the church, Pastor Oscar was so kind.

Pastor Oscar was so wonderful and friendly, allowing us to enter the church and take photos as long as it was not for business purposes. He even moved the truck for us and gave us some wonderful signed books on spirituality. It is a real active church with services on Saturday because they are Seventh Day Adventists. It was a wonderful experience and I feel blessed to have been able to visit on such a beautiful day and to encounter such a kind gentleman.

Threatening sign- a gun pointing at you if you trespass. Stay away!

July 2021-Please do not waste your time or gas. This church does not welcome visitors and is not tourist friendly. The church has a wired rope with signs all around saying "Warning-No Trespassing " and another one that says "Prayers is the best way to meet the Lord. Trespassing is faster (with a picture of a gun pointing at you). There's a truck parked right in front preventing visitors from taking pictures. Clearly the owner of the church does not want people there. Let's respect that. Besides the drive was horrible. You drive in the desert for about 15 miles. It's a remote area and you may lose your phone/internet signal (I did). The desert has been taken over by homeless encampments . The drive and the remote surroundings are not safe. I'm a woman and drove my kids out there & I was frightened. I hope this helps . Blessings!

It's so badass , except they had to park this ugly truck in front of the church ... it's out in middle of nowhere in the desert. But so worth it especially if you are a big movie buff.

It was a cool place to visit. I wish the truck wasn't left in front. I'm sure it's to discourage photo opps

This little church caught me by surprise it's an older looking church but wow it's powerful!…read more The first time coming here I felt the Holy Spirit dwelling in this place. The doctrine is solid ! The pastor and his wife are on fire for the lord and there's line by line Bible reading and given with a lot of context so that way your not deceived and you know what your reading ! He encourages you to read your Bible for yourself and not to put him on a pedestal but leave that space for Jesus only ! Honestly I've been going here for almost a year and I've already grown and learned so much. This church has definitely sharpened me and helped me in my walk with the lord. I truly believe God led me here and planted our family because we were looking for a while for a home church and after 13 churches this was the one! Still praising God that we met a lady named Kendra and she invited us to this church! The woman here like Kendra , Desiree , misty , rosi , Rea and more are so wonderful ! They have a ministry for literally everyone and everything and the children's ministry is so rich and Christ focused on, I see my daughters being sharpened as well. This is definitely not a lukewarm church it's a spirit filled church with lots of growth and great Bible teaching ! Love the worship team too they are so amazing , I truly feel the lords presence when they sing for him. I could go on and on about how great this church is. I attend Tuesdays(Womans Bible study) , Wednesdays(mid week), Fridays(homeschool co-op) and Sundays (church service ) and whenever there is an outreach on a Saturday ! Theres a lot to get involved in too !

My family and I have been fellowshiping at Calvary Chapel since 1992 in Antelope Valley…read more We love the book by book, verse by verse teaching and all the great ministries and opportunities to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We meet at Desert Christian High School! Great children's ministries, Mission's ministry, Men and Women's Bible studies, a Baseball and Basketball team. A great youth group, with awesome videogame parties. A special needs ministry. Something for everyone to grow in the Lord and Seek his will for your life. Hope to see you there Godbless.
