This was our 1st time visiting Sandbridge and found a 3 bedroom condo online at the Sanctuary through Seibert Realty. The Sanctuary property is huge with 2 large, colorful complexes with parking garages underneath. Each complex has a pool and concrete area in the middle with grills and dining tables. There is also a 3rd pool at the beach entrance. We loved our unit. It was clean and updated. Water pressure was great in the showers. The storage closet that came with our unit was very nice to have so we didn't have to lug our things up to the condo from the beach each day. The grills at the pool were plentiful and very nice to have access to use. The beach in front of the Sanctuary was beautiful! It was crowded as to be expected but we put our things out early enough each day to get close to the water. The sand was soft and there were no shells like other beaches we have been to. We were also treated to dolphins in the water for the majority of the week which was a first for me. It was like they just sat out there waiting to perform! We did have to get used to the Navy planes flying overhead in their training missions but again, that was to be expected given where we were. Our only complaints are that more parking for residents/renters is needed and that the balconies and walk ways could use a weekly cleaning due to cobwebs. (That's probably a personal preference) We will be back!! read more

We have been renting a condo at Sanctuary at False Cape each Summer for several years. This will be our last year renting due to how rundown this place has become. Such a shame too. This place could be top tier, as it used to be in the beginning when it was built (which was less than 20 years ago). But each year it has gone steadily down hill. I will say that every time we have rented, the outside has been filthy and full of spiders/webs and bugs. Impossible to sit on the balconies because of this. It looks like they have never power washed the outside or refreshed the paint. This week, we even called Siebert Realty and the maintenance number they provided for this condo about the filthy balcony (which was unusable). Nobody ever came to help us. The swimming pool was so rundown. The concrete around it has deteriorated. Not kept up at all. The parking garage is filthy! Full of spiders, webs and bugs. You only get 2 parking passes for the garage and an assigned space, which is no where near your unit or elevator that takes you to your unit. And they won't give you a 3rd pass, which we needed. And if you don't put that pass on your mirror, they will boot or tow your car! The owners of these individual condo units pay a huge HOA fee! What is their money being used for? It certainly isn't being used on the outside of the condos! The owners of the individual units need to investigate the HOA or hire a new one, because it looks like nothing is being done with their money they pay! The only good thing was the condo unit inside. We stayed in 231B Tranquility Bay. It was very clean and beautifully decorated and furnished! Except the balcony, which was full of spiders. We will never stay here again. read more

We stayed in the sanctuary condos in Sandbridge beach. We were in 108B. The unit was great had everything and anything you could need!! Even a blow dryer, blender and just lovely decor! The view was beautiful (full ocean) and the bed was pretty good. Washer and dryer like new. Pool areas were wonderful and it was great to use the grills! ***my only complaint/recommendation would be to bring something to get your gear, coolers and food to your unit. You end up making 50 trips in the elevator. I wish they had some luggage carts or something...heck I would even pay a couple bucks to rent it to help unload or load the car! read more

I visited the week of 9/28/23 and was relieved to find the accommodations to be much better than expected based on previous Yelp reviews. I usually check Yelp and other sites before I book vacation spots. I really liked it. One hiccup with Vacasa giving me the wrong keys. They were dropped off within the hour. The condos are large, spacious and well stocked for basic needs. We rented two - a 3 bed/3 bath and a 4bed/4bath Both condos were equally nice and oceanfront. Lots of restaurants, shopping and activities nearby. Drove to Virginia Beach for Neptunes weekend Saturday and Sunday within 15 minutes. Definitely recommend to families and anyone looking for accessible accommodations. read more

This place has gone downhill a bit since our first few years of going. The pool on side A was completely closed... no idea why. We were never told about this during the reservation process. No big deal, there's two other pools to use, but we specifically chose our unit due to the close proximity of the pool. All of the picnic tables had been removed and only one grill was in working order on the A side courtyard. For the price you pay, everything should be in working order and available for use. read more

We had a really good week staying in a condo here. We had an ocean view condo. The ocean side would be the ones we would stay in if we would come back. The rooms were pretty spacious and comfortably fit 4 adults and 4 kids. There is a decent little porch space. There are 3 pools on the resort. Each is different and have advantages to going to each. We stayed in a condo on the first floor. The exterior was dirty and could use some TLC. The exterior on the balcony was also in need of some TLC. Lots of cobwebs and dirt. The chairs on the balcony were on the older, worn side. The inside of the unit was decent enough. The carpet had a lot of stains, but had been vacuumed. The bedrooms and bathrooms seemed clean. Some of my complaints: 1. The directions provided when checking in did not match the directions in the unit. One said to leave all the linens on the beds while the other said to strip the beds of all linens and leave them on the floor. That's just one example. 2. We paid a cleaning fee, but the exterior clearly needs a good cleaning and we had to do some of the cleaning on the inside. 3. My kid left his Nintendo Switch behind. The management company wants $25 just to go into the unit and see if it's still there. It's been a week since we left so I'm guessing whoever found it kept it (whether it's the cleaning crew or the next guest). 4. One of the keycards they gave us did not work. So that was a big inconvenience as we couldn't get to the elevators or stairs to get to the unit without it. Luckily our family was almost always together so we were fine for the most part, but had we split up we'd have been in trouble! read more

This place is terrible. They have three pools, and one of them was closed the whole time which meant everybody had to go to one pool for the kids, the trash rooms were filled with trash that wouldn't go down the chute on the last day when we were getting ready to leave, the elevators were out of order, so we had to take all of our luggage that we had for a week and go down the stairs with it. There was construction going on and the rear alarm beepper was going off for a long time, I think their equipment was messed up The floors on the balcony were dirty and our feet got black walking on them. All the people working here were nice and answered your questions. read more

My family and I just traveled from the Midwest only to find the two condos (Grace Abounds and Flip Flop Haven) we rented out completely filthy. One of them hadn't been cleaned from the prior guests (dirty laundry on the floor, poop in the toilet, etc). And the front office said a cleaning service would be out to handle it in 20 minutes on Saturday evening. No one ever showed and my family had to cram into one of the condos for the night and even that one we had to thoroughly clean (and the baby's' feet were completely black from walking around inside). The next morning we called (for the 4th time) asking about the status of the other condo as we had more family coming into town and all the 3rd party staff could tell us was that a request had been put in...Two of my family members went to the other condo to just start cleaning since we had no other choice and halfway through, a cleaning lady from North Carolina showed up. She was super nice and helped us (and we tipped her bc she was the only help we received) but overall we are extremely disappointed that the first 24 hours of our (paid) vacation has been spent cleaning and trying to talk to management on the phone. We would've stayed at a hotel had we known how ridiculous this would be. read more

Sanctuary at False Cape is located on the Atlantic and borders a wildlife refuge and state park that extends south past the northern border of North Carolina. There are at least 3 pools at the sanctuary, all with slightly different themes but remember that you're just a few steps away from the salty ocean waves and white sandy beach. Overall, it's one of the more relaxing beach areas since it does border a state park. There is plenty of room on the beach without feeling crowded. Definitely 5 stars. read more

Ok. So Sandbridge is our vacation spot for 5 years now. Each time we have stayed in other condos. We tried Sanctuary this year. Place is confusing. Very pretty and large. Many rooms to choose from. We were in building B110 Oceanfront. Parking was nice bc we use a Tule for I top of our vehicle. We didn't have to go under building and was able to find covered parking that accommodated us. Property is nice. Our condo was very nice but far from our car. If we did park underneath in garage it wouldn't have been that bad. We were one door away from elevator. But from elevator no direct access to beach. We only knew of 2 pools. One was outside our room. Nice size. People distanced. But some families just sat on chairs while their kids jumped in the pool and splashed everyone. Now I know everyone pays for vacation and they can have fun but when there is 30 people in pool (maximin 37) you should have consideration for others. No one controlled them. The other pool, we found was never opened. It did have a swim up bar but VERY tiny. Picture on advertisement did not represent. The bar needed a cleaning and update. The beach was very close but packed! Bigger facility, more people. A lot of families, young kids. 5 life guards. Our condo was ok. They had the bare minimum. Someone left milk, cottage cheese and sweet potatoes in fridge. The dishwasher wasn't emptied. Little different than I expected. The porch had millions of bugs on the wall. And old furniture probably from the beach wear and tear. Also there are red lights on porch. I guess to keep bugs away? When we were on the porch someone above us emptied there cooler filled of water. All landed on our porch. WiFi SUCKED. We couldn't call our family if we were waiting by the car and they were in condo. Some people played music late into the night after 11. We don't think we will be staying here again. Though any place you stay in Sandbridge is amazing bc of the place. Just that with the Sanctuary we weren't prepared for how big it was and how crowed. read more

Elevators not working and no one is coming to fix them. Additionally, it was advertised as three pools, but the main (biggest) pool is closed. This is is the one in our building so everyone is crowding into other pools. You have to lug your belongings and groceries up all the steps not great responses as well. read more

We have been staying here for 5 years now. This year we stayed 2 separate weeks because of how much we love it here. Both times we were delayed last minute because of the rooms not being cleaned, causing us to check in on Sunday. Each time they used the same exact excuse, "housekeeping has COVID." We did receive a refund for the day and a voucher, but to us this was not enough for the inconvenience. Upon check in, there were bunk beds that had old sheets on them that were used, and a towel hanging on the door in the upper bedroom that was used by the previous tenant. In addition to that, the showers had sand all over the bottom - I'm assuming they weren't cleaned.. I understand the pandemic has caused staffing issues, but as with any other job, you adapt and overcome. We have witnessed this place go downhill each year we have stayed. The past few years we have gone and one pool or another has been closed. The pool closures have not been communicated to us. The worst part of this experience I believe is the transition to VACASA. They are a very bad company to deal with. It changes the whole dynamic of The Sanctuary, it used to have a family feel dealing with the staff here. Instead we are dealing with someone who is not local and give answers just to appease you. The other painful experience was dealing with parking passes. We rented a penthouse and only got two parking passes for a 4 bedroom condo. When we asked for another we were told they can't issue any more. So if you come with more than 2 families you have to pay to park vehicles in the lot beside the condominium. We were planning on buying a condo here but the transition to VACASA and the steady decline of the overall condominium makes me question if there is any return possible. Our families love Sandbridge, but from what we have seen, there is a noticeable decline at The Sanctuary. read more

Can we please update the app to ZERO stars. DO NOT recommend. Cockroach sanctuary is more like it. We arrived on a Wednesday to roach fest. No one cared- hear me now, this place does not CARE! They sent a very nice young lady to VACUUM the roaches because ROACHES y'all!! We bought raid and a big bomb zero help. Lord save us! Management promised to come NEVER DID. The beach access was convenient but the beach was dirty and unkempt and the umbrellas and chairs are worn and broken. Like girl what is this?! A joke! Save your money and your vacation don't ever come here. read more

Not everything about Sanctuary was terrible. The Jose's Tequilas restaurant was amazing and proximity to the beach was convenient. Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good in this situation. When we first arrived here, our feet were black from walking around the condo after being told everything was cleaned. Library was locked the entire trip. Pools were unavailable, no idea why. Only one of the grills in the public area worked. Parking was very poorly organized. The balcony of the condo was covered in pigeon feces, and was also uncleaned. Do not recommend to anyone that is planning on coming to the VA Beach area. read more

We rented a three bedroom condo for the weekend. The condo was dirty upon our arrival and generally run down. The interior was Hobby Lobby chic for sure. The stay in the condo was ok, but on the morning we were to leave our car had been towed in the middle of the night. We were warned about the unethical, immoral management by VACASA with regards to the towing. We parked in the same place three nights in a row. It is no coincidence that our car was towed on the last night we were there. There is a tag you have to put on your mirror with the days you are staying, so it was easy for someone to know it was our last day, and that it was a rental car. Who will have the time to fight any of this when they are trying to catch a flight. I may be giving a tow truck driver a little too much credit here, but somehow it is part of the management and the tow company's plan. 150 for the tow and 40 for the uber ride to VA Beach to get the car. I will never stay in any VACASA property again. I would not recommend staying here to anyone.....ever. read more

If you would like to enter a condo after driving for hours to find that the elevator near your unit is out of order, and to have to walk through a million bugs and dragon flies littering the halls to get to your unit, and to then enter your unit for the first time to have some weird musty smell greet you, and a bunch of more hallway bugs, flies, webs, dust, dirt, and spiders to greet you, then sure, stay here. Otherwise save your money! We called to let them know the apartment was dirty. We got a text asking how dirty from 1-5. We said 2, then got a text reply saying they'd call to make an appointment. Translation: THEY DON'T CARE! They took the money and ran. Horrible! Uncomfortable! Gross! The balcony has huge webs everywhere and is dirty. Never in my life have I ever wanted to go home from a vacation on the day I arrived! I wish someone before me left me this review before I spent my money! read more

My family likes to try new places and it was a last minute booking (4 months prior to when we left). We needed a 4 bedroom condo for 11 people and this place was pretty much the only one that could accommodate a family that large, and being 1000$+/night, we assumed it would be a nice condo/facility as we have stayed many places on the gulf side that are much less and MUCH nicer. We entered our not so clean condo with the TWO keys that were provided. Actual keys..with a ring attached to it that held a card the size of my hand because we needed the card to access everywhere on the premises. So, a twelve person condo that provides two keys, but also had a keypad on the door..... Enjoy carrying around this gigantic key, juggling it between all 7 adults. Just, why? How is that even manageable? It was such a pain. The very first night we were there, we (my husband, 8 yr old and 2 yr old) were physically in the pool and maintenance came out and said we needed to get out due to a bacteria problem. The pool, which was located literally 400 feet from our condo, did not re-open the rest of the week so we had to use the other side of the resort to take the kids to the pool. Our balcony was DISGUSTING. Birds had pooped everywhere and tried to make a nest in the towel I was trying to dry on a chair, the bugs (spiders, dragonflies, houseflies, etc) were awful. Luckily we always keep bug spray in our beach bags. Ultimately, finding the condom in the corner of our balcony was the last straw. Next up, the trash situation.... This was repulsive and I'll never be able to get the smell out of my nose. Their garbage chute was so backed up that there we bags literally spilling out of the garbage room. It was so gross. Our condo itself, not clean, not good amenities, my parents master bedroom didn't even have a top sheet on their bed, my husband and I had the second bedroom with a king that squeaked EVERY TIME WE MOVED and we had our 2 yr old in the pac n play sleeping with us, so this literally kept him up every time we would move/get up to go to the bathroom. Pool bar was closed on the 4th of July. Our condo happened to be just right above the Mexican restaurant that is at the resort so our balcony overlooked patrons eating their meals and we could hear everything, not to mention we smelled like a Mexican cantina for a week. The elevators were down for two days also, so taking our beach wagon down was out of the question unless we traveled to the other side of the building. The resort is in need of some major cosmetic TLC. I could keep going, on and on...and on, but I've wasted an entire week already on this place. Disgusting. Do not do it. read more

This is our 9th year staying here and will be our last. Condos are nice but as others have said, office staff are rude and hard to find. We are registered guests here and my son's car was towed last night out of the garage. We had to drive 30 mins to Va Beach to retrieve it and paid $175. How does this even happen? Staff throw their arms up when asked about it like they have nothing to do with it. Also The large pool is closed for the summer. So hundreds of people are squeezed into the small bar pool. Hallways are dirty and dead bugs are everywhere. For what we paid for a week here, we could have stayed in the Caribbean. Save your money and time and go somewhere nice. read more

First, the place isn't really cleaned at all. There are marked in the shower and there was this weird and random hair everywhere. Second, this "resort" didn't state anywhere that your car would be towed. My families car was parked in the same parking spot for the past week legally. And when we forgot to put our parking permit in our window, our car got towed. Even though we have been parked there for at least a week. And they don't even provide a ride to their lot which is all the way in Virginia Beach. And they still charge $145 just to get your car back. So stupid. And we came all the way from PA, and we only have one car, so we are being ripped off. I would not recommend coming to this place because of this. It is a waste of money and isn't very clean. And you have a constant threat of the dumb idiots towing your car because you forgot to put up your parking permit. So be warned. read more

Just finished vacationing at the Sanctuary. Pros: Our condo was lovely and spacious Kitchen had all the appliances and cookware you could need Beach and surrounding area is beautiful. Playground, tennis courts, trails within walking distance Nice gym Swim up bar and grill had decent food Very family oriented and lots of kids there of course. A plus for us maybe not for others. Cons: As previous poster indicated, signage is very poor and we spent a lot of the first couple of days figuring it out Also agree with rudeness and general unhelpfuness of front desk staff. We had a couple questions and the lady at the front desk was very curt and really made it seem like we were bothering her. That parking garage is horrific if you aren't driving a tiny car. We rented a large vehicle for the trip and it physically wouldn't fit into the space. And yep you guessed it, front desk lady was rude and simply said oh well, don't park up front you will get booted. Pools are tiny and very very crowded. People throwing balls, kids, teenagers rough housing. Was scared my preschooler was going to get mowed over. There is no one there to enforce any of the pool rules, like no throwing balls or humans. The mattress in our condo was the saggiest mattress I have ever slept on. Also the sheets had horrible stains on them. A previous poster had indicated there were no toiletries, soap etc.... the company is very clear that those things are not included. No big deal just bring your own. They even send you a list of what to bring. All in all, it was ok. We liked the Sandbridge area, it's quiet but close enough to Va beach to zip in for restaurants, activities etc.... Next time we will just rent a house though, amenities at this facility are nothing special. read more

We stopped at the Sanctuary today to check out the property to possibly rent for our upcoming family summer vacation. We were first greeted by a rude office staff who was reluctant to allow us access to the complex. After finally deciding to give us an access key since they had no desire to show us the property or even an available unit, we walked the pool area, hallways and common areas and found it to be run down, dirty and in need of maintenance. The property could be top notch due to its location, however, the hallway floors were filthy and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. We did not see inside any unit since they weren't willing to show us so I can't comment on that. I'm happy we were able to take a ride down to check out this complex as it is certainly off our list as it is substandard. read more

Second year in a row staying here. Last year was our first stay in Sandbridge after many years in Virginia Beach. We didn't want a house because there are only 5 of us but we also wanted a place on the beach. Sanctuary at False Cape gave us the best of both worlds. We stayed in the same condo because we liked it and we were able to use the storage area which helps since you don't have to carry the chairs and boogie boards all the way to the room. The pools and cabana bar are nice when you want to be away from the beach. Grills are nice if you don't want to eat out. Overall a great place and we won't look anywhere else when we come to Sandbridge. read more

The inside of our 3 bedroom unit was pretty nice and clean. The one thing I was disappointed in was how stained the carpet was. I realize it is tough to keep light carpet clean in a rental place. But this was really bad. It was loaded with stains all over the carpet but especially near the kitchen area. it was sort of a turn off and made eating in the areas less appetizing. The common areas where very bad. The stairwells and garage smelled horrible. The outside of the building is in need of painting. Lots of rust stains running down the outside walls. The trash area at the end of the hallway in B building, first floor was really gross, smelly and dirty looking. The gas grills only half worked. Another annoyance is how difficult it was to actually get to the beach. No easy egress from the unit. We had to walk a long way through the garage to a staircase to the beach over by the pool. Not convenient while carrying all our gear. The inside of our place, Osprey Point, was pretty nice, but the actual condo development needs work! read more
