We were blown away by the breadth of selection for not only carpets and rugs, but all types of flooring, window treatments and textiles. This is one of the rare remaining non-chain places that clearly takes pride in both wide selection and customer service. We were greeted upon arriving by Paula, who was deftly handling a couple of other shoppers, and were thrilled she took the time to devote her attention to us so quickly. We came with room layouts with dimensions and a range for each room's rug type possibilities we'd already felt could work. Paula helped us zoom right in to both new roll and remnant possibilities quickly. We chose and sat down to work through the edge finishing options within minutes. The owner was circulating, answering questions, and we came to know that everyone around us had worked for him for a decade or more. Between the care taken by Paula and her teammates and the ease of the transaction, we confirmed how both the new roll and remnants would be cut and finished, and were connected with an excellent delivery service to bring our finished goods to the city. Not for a minute did we feel rushed or not completely looked after. Not only will the Carpetman see us again for both our East End and City-based needs, we've already urged others to go there who are in the market for rugs, flooring, window treatments and the like. Can't recommend The Carpetman enough! Before you shop online or with one of those chain retailers, go to The Carpetman first! First-rate customer service and selection--or tell your architect to!

I bought screws and tools on a regular basis. I went to exchange an empty propane tank and they charged me $39 plus tax. I thought it was excessive. Today I went to True Value in Hampton Bays and they charged me $24 with tax!!! Amazing. So now I suspect everything that I have bought there has been top retail price. Maybe you need to shop around for better prices. Service is excellent but that is not the issue.

Pointing out politely that this makes no sense only got me more attitude from the person helping me. Thank goodness a friend recommended this place to us because they saved our Christmas! We found such a gorgeous curation of ornaments - really unique and fabulous. Prices weren't exactly a bargain but they really deserve to make money based on how beautiful they make the store and how they pull together a great selection of items you don't see anywhere else. It was super busy the few times we were there but staff was super helpful and they took my ornaments behind the register, packed them up and whisked me to register to quickly check me out when I was finished. I've been back a few times since and salespeople are always extremely helpful and nice, giving great advice on how to style something or suggesting items that I may have overlooked. Grounds are exceptionally beautiful and it's a great stop to make if you need a last minute gift. They have greeting cards and their signature bag, tissue paper and ribbon make for a perfect presentation for any occasion!

It's easy for a store owner to sell product at a discount but my experience was they can't deliver as promised. I purchased linens, pillows, towels, accessories for the bathroom and much more at the store. My only requirement , which I agreed to pay an up charge to receive , was for the merchandise to be shipped so that I had delivery of the merchandise on a MUST have basis on a date specific. I was assured it would be done to my requirements. Based on the managers assurances and her understanding and acknowledgment of the time demand , I had placed the order and paid in full. The merchandise was to be in my nyc residence on June 29,2020. But it never arrived. We called the store and was again assured it was shipped priority delivery and assured it would come the next day. Time was of the essence ! It didn't arrive but what I did get was listening to the store owner / manager disparage my girlfriend , rudely take no responsibility, not offer any alternative such as having an Uber delivery that same day and breach all codes of business service and respect of a customer. In this case, it was easy for them to over promise and under deliver and cause us, the customer, undue aggravation and precious time. I write this review as a warning that in this instance , this was an awful retail experience . It's easy when there is no stress but a good store owner makes it easy for the customer when things don't go as planned. Avoid this place. Many other places to spend your money this is not one of them !!!

The reason I felt compelled to write this was because of my phone experience when I called to check on UPS tracking information today! Instead of apologizing to me ( the client) the store manager screamed and blamed UPS and the had the order shipped back to the store without consulting me to see if I wanted it delivered tomorrow. I have been shopping there for many years and believe it's h see new management and will never go back!
