I made massage appointments for both my husband and myself. We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled appointment time, only to be told that my husband's appointment had been canceled. The explanation we received was that someone had called to notify us, but no one answered. This is simply not true. We did not receive a phone call, voicemail, text message, or any other communication regarding the cancellation. Canceling an appointment without properly notifying a customer and then informing them only after they have arrived is completely unacceptable. We took time out of our day, arranged our schedules, and traveled to your location expecting to receive the services we had booked. This situation reflects a serious lack of professionalism and respect for your customers' time. Had we been notified in advance, we could have made other arrangements. Instead, our time was wasted due to poor communication and a failure in customer service. As a result of this experience, you have lost us as customers. I booked a couples massage for me and my boyfriend. We ended getting the very back room, which is near the bathroom. The sound of water turning on and off and the flushing was not relaxing. At the end of the massage they ask for a tip, right in front of the desk they have a sign that tells you how much to tip. For an hour massage they recommended at least $20~$40 tip which I think was odd. I've had massages before and they always ask for tip but they never asked for a specific amount. The massage was pretty average. They used different techniques on the both of us. For my boyfriend, they got up and stepped on him, using their feet to massage his back. He didn't like it and thought it was too rough. I wish this method of massage would be stated because some people wouldn't like being stepped on. Since I had a male massager he didn't step on me, just used his hands. It was pretty average. The place looked clean and nice though. Most likely won't come here again. read more

My wife and I used to come here under the previous management. We figured we'd give the new staff a shot and booked a couples massage for our anniversary. The booking was easy but the experience was the worst. Danny gave the worst massage I've ever had to pay for. Barely any massage oil used, either too much pressure or no pressure. Just odd focus points. Sweating the whole and dripping on me a couple times, gross. While this is happening your front desk and aesthetician were talking loudly and laughing where we could hear their entire conversation. After I had told Danny it was very distracting they stopped for maybe 10-15 minutes then went right back to talking again. It was my friend's first time and she couldn't stop talking about it. Alisa it's so knowledgeable and really excellent with facials! There is a new management with this spot. All of their masseuses are new. They kept pushing my appointment time back. When I finally came at the time slot they gave me, I still had to wait another 30 mins. The massage was also terrible. I had a male masseuse, and the girls at the front even told me that he was new and not good. I was truly shocked that they would actually tell me that he was not good. He only just got his certificate too. The new masseuse clearly did not know what to do, and was milking the 60 mins. It was extremely awkward because he seemed like he didn't know what to do next or which movements/strokes to do. Everything about the session was awkward. The way he tucked in the blanket didn't seem confident. He continued to ask questions throughout the session so it never gave me an opportunity to relax. This place is across the street from the Ramada Torrance hotel, which makes it convenient for anyone who is staying there. I called and was able to book a massage same-day, which I greatly appreciate! PROS - Price. This facility charged a lot less than surrounding places. I was able to get a 90-minute combination massage for $65 after a $10 off check-in offer through Yelp. That's normally what I'd pay for only 60 minutes elsewhere. - Massage. The massage was good. My therapist was Stefany and she seemed competent. My massage lasted the full amount of time and was thorough, including a wonderful foot massage. Stefany provided a choice of lotion or oil and also used hot towels throughout the massage. - Cleanliness. The facility appeared clean and looked pleasant. - Availability. As mentioned above, I was able to book same-day without any problems. CONS - Noise. The treatment areas are not separate rooms; rather, all treatments are happening in the same, giant room separated by partitions. The stalls have an open top, so you can hear EVERYTHING that is going on in any of the treatments and at the front desk. When someone coughed in another treatment room, it sounded like they'd coughed right in my ear. I deal with pain and have had dozens of massages over the years. This is the noisiest massage I've ever had, which is something I do not particularly like. However, I was still satisfied because the low price made up for the noise and my main concern had been to reduce pain, which the massage was able to do successfully. If you are worried about noise, Sand and Sea might not be the best place for you. If you are looking for a good massage at an affordable price and don't care about noise, you should give Sand and Sea a try. read more
