I visited this bar for the first time after having dinner at Chef Smellys. I was pleasantly surprised at how cute it is! It's a pretty large bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu is cute with a variety of mixed drinks that match the beach theme. I love that there is actual sand on the floor. I visited on a Saturday evening around 5p and there was a small crowd. We were able to easily find seating inside at a cute little cabana table off to the side. The drinks were well made. Overall it appears to be a clean, safe establishment with plenty of parking near by! I am excited to check it out again soon. read more

Delish! Super nice guy running the bar. Friendly. All tropical themed drinks with lots of fruit juices. Papaya, lime, hibiscus, lemon. I got the Forbidden Leaf and my friend got the Bay Breeze. A small was enough for about 3 drinks over ice. The drinks are STRONG. And we got to sample the gorilla milk that was pretty complex. The philosophy is more laid back kinda bar with tasty drinks and less of a high-end 15 minute cocktail mixologist kinda place. Currently only open thurs - sat but will open on Sundays soon too. As someone who loves tropical themed rum drinks I'm excited about a place that serves multiple. Usually bars only have one or two good tropical drinks. Stop by and grab a to go drink! read more

They called it Sand Bar and delivered on what to expect! I live nearby and noticed this place a few times while walking past during its initial opening - a tropical bar with a floor covered in literal sand. Bf and I came here on a date night to check things out and it's pretty okay. I got the Forbidden Leaf which was my jam for a tropical cocktail - a little herbal, a little sour and a little sweet. There's some cute touches inside but we sat outside in the parklet area tho traffic cuts super close and the tables are all at an angle. The themed decor throughout was a good necessary touch and the reggae music was on point. It's a decent choice of venue for that section of Broadway. Sand Bar opened up during the pandemic in our neighborhood and we finally were able to check it out on a Friday at 5pm. Super cool spot, like there's literally sand on the ground. "The Sand Bar" is more of a literal term here which is awesome! This is a small little bar that really takes its name to heart. The ground is literally covered in sand witch beach chairs and palapas inside which gives it a killer vibe. The bartenders were very nice and even with only 2 of them they were able to get our drinks made quickly. We only had 2 drinks and it was a short stop but definitely one you should take a look at. The drinks were good i wish the glassware was a little more high end but thats nit-picky. This place is a great spot to come in for a tropical drink with some friends. If I could rate 0 stars I would. I visited here the other night, Sunday Dec 29th and me and my boyfriend was ready to go just minutes after sitting down. I asked for a simple well known cocktail and the bartender did not know what I was talking about. Our drinks that we received were filled with ice, from the bottom of the glass all the way to the top. It was extremely hard to get the bartenders attention and when she did look our way she had a strong negative attitude. When I ordered a second drink of the one I had before, she gave me something completely different and when I struggled again to get her attention to let her know that it was not what I ordered, she didn't apologize or anything. The music was overly loud and the songs were skipping and scratched, making it extremely difficult to enjoy the bar and have simple conversations. This was the worst bar experience I've ever had. I won't be returning here. Management please hire a more experienced bartender with exceptional professionalism, customer service and awareness. read more

Sooo been living around the corner from here for almost 6 months and let me just say I'm kinda glad I didn't find it sooner because the Gorilla Milk is so magically delicious it would have had me here more than I should be. It is a fantabulous slushy blend with flavors of coffee, banana and chocolate with a nice donkey kick. You can of course have it there but also get it to go but it's only sold as a well worth double for $18. There are so many other delicious sounding cocktail options and I plan to try them all. The vibe is beach chill thus the name "Sand Bar". I went around 4 pm on a Saturday so it wasn't too crowded. Service was quick, 10 min max and I was headed back home with my milk. A few sips and kaboom is all I can say. So if you're in the area I recommend a pit stop even if it's to try another one of their specialty drinks. I came here while I was bar hopping in Oakland. Honestly, the idea of the sand bar is pretty cool and I actually liked it. I also like the beach themed toilet and bathroom. The drinks were actually pretty good the only problem was that there was only one guy making drinks. When you arrive you have to stand in line to order and pay. Then they make the drinks right immediately in front of you. There was about 5 people in front of me and it took about 1 hour. I felt honestly so bad because there was about 9 people also behind me waiting. By the time I ordered I was sober from bar hopping. It wasn't that packed either so I expected the line to move a little faster. It was fun for the experience but I don't know if I would come back again especially waiting an hour in line for drinks... read more

The concept is really cool, but the execution left me wanting more. Sand Bar is supposed to be a beach/tiki vibe bar, but what you get is a thin later of sand that if you move it around with one sweep, you will see the floor. We sampled the Gorilla Milk and it nearly knocked me off my feet. I got the Large Passion Aggressive. It was tasty, and yielded about 1.5 glasses The Yay Breeze was also delicious & flavorful. I was surprised by how much I've come to adore this place. Originally I thought the sand concept to be gimmicky, and maybe it would have been if that were the main attraction, but it really is a nice background to a very cozy, welcoming bar. The drinks are amazing - everything off their cocktail menu is a perfect combo of interesting, delicious, and STRONG!! For a good price. Sand bar is the perfect pre-game spot. The atmosphere is cute, low lights and comfy seating, not too loud so you can definitely converse with friends. My only point of contention is that there seems to be a lot of unused space in the back, and while currently without an abundance of seating, I wish they would consider turning it into more tables and chairs? Check this place out! It's in a cool, convenient spot in uptown. The decor looks great and projects a chill vibe; can't wait until we can actually kick back and be transported to the beach. Drinks were amazing, fantastic flavors. The forbidden leaf is a definite highlight where delicate fruit flavors balance perfectly with subtle herbal notes. It was our first time coming to the SandBar and it will be our last.I would not recommend it.Extremly over priced,our waitress served us our drinks and that was the last we saw of her until we asked for our bill.It rained and the ceiling out to the deck began letting rain fall on the back of our hair and necks,so that we had to move as well as two other tables .The food had no flavor or taste. The view was awesome. I would also recommend a canopy or some type of closure to your marble looking flooring to get to the SanBar,very slippery when wet. read more
