What can I say, I love tiki bars. Staff was amazing and super friendly. They had some great drink recommendations and even have some "off the menu drinks". Entire place is tiki themed minus the outside where if you didn't know it existed you would go right by it. Just make sure you bring your ID because they do check EVERYONE.

This bar is an absolute hidden gem -- the kind of place you walk into "just for one drink," and suddenly you're three cocktails deep, debating whether you should just move in. The staff? Incredible. They don't just serve drinks -- they adopt you. After 10 minutes I felt like I was a regular, even though I had never been there before in my life. The drinks are chef's kiss -- tropical, balanced, and dangerously easy to order "just one more." The tiki vibes are top notch, and the ambiance is pure nostalgia... like walking onto the set of Cheers, if Sam Malone traded baseball for rum cocktails. It makes total sense why so many regulars basically have their own seat and probably their own emergency pina colada ready at the bar. If you love tiki, good people, and the feeling of being part of a secret club you didn't know you joined, this is your spot. I'm already planning my return -- preferably when I'm not pretending I'll only have one drink.

I've been here before and can't remember if I've ever left a review, but this spot has amazing drinks. They have a seasonal one right now call mango sticky rice chi chi. It tastes exactly like Thai mango sticky rice in a milk shake like form, but with alcohol. I loved it, would def go back to try other drinks.

Very sweet and lovely drinks. My high school friend recommended me this place and the drinks are amazing! My only concern was this place did have longer wait times than I'm used to (I understand it was a Friday night but I've waited 10+ minutes) and it was the reason it lost a star. Pool costs a $1 per game, you'd have to go to the bar and they will give you quarters.

Legendary Tiki Bar with a great vibe and fabulous drinks, cocktails and umbrella creations. Adequate street parking and good neighborhood. Bartenders are friendly, expert and quick. This is our default bar in this area.

The drinks here are so good -- I had the mango sticky rice slush and it was absolutely killer. Not too sweet, super refreshing, and really unique. The vibes were immaculate and the tiki décor gave it that fun, transport-you-somewhere-else kind of feel. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Prices were also really fair -- not overpriced at all for cocktails this tasty. My only drawback is the volume: the music was way too loud for a tiki bar, and it carried into the bathroom so much that I couldn't even hear myself think. A little volume control would have taken the atmosphere from great to perfect. Overall though, I'd definitely come back for the drinks and the vibes -- just maybe bring some earplugs.

We love Kona Club! We went on a Saturday evening and while things were calm in the streets of Piedmont there was already a good group of people at Kona Club. I love nutty drinks so I got the Macadamia Chi Chi with rum instead of vodka, and then I got the painkiller. It's cute hour they measure the alcohol content of the drinks by the number of fish next to it. My partner got two mocktails including Mama's Punch (too sweet for us) and a virgin piña colada (yummm.) The drinks are reasonably priced for the Bay Area, and we chit chatted with the bartenders for a bit before leaving tipsy and ready to munch on dinner.

I came here on a Monday night at around 10:30 and it was very packed. Plenty of people here and it is such a vibe. Definitely takes a bit time to get your order started at the bar. It is a very spacious area. I really enjoy it. It's a lot bigger than some of the other tiki bars in the area. Their prices are also very affordable and I highly recommended. There's usually a security guard outside to check ID before going in. I really love the vibe here. They also have large games for you to play connect for. This is a great spot to hang out with friends or meet new people.

Not a bad hole in the wall to grab a drink. We decided to stop by after dinner since I've always wanted to check it out. Tiki bars are my favorite bars because I love the Hawaiian themed decor. The outside always look like the place is closed/shut down. The inside was dark (just how I like it) with lots of seats available near the front and back. Surprisingly there weren't a lot of people on a weekend. They even have a pool table in one of the rooms! We ordered at the bar and got a Pina Colada. The drink had a strong coconut flavor and a hint of alcohol. It was the perfect drink for me since I'm not a huge drinker. I also liked that the ice was blended well so it was icy. This bar is nested on Piedmont Ave near the Oakland cemetery. There are lots of street parking available and lots of restaurants/shops if you walk down Piedmont Ave.

No wait on a Saturday around 7:30pm. It was fairly busy and only got busier through 10pm when we left. Parking was easy on the same block. * Mango Madness - 2 stars This was uninteresting, too strong and too sweet. * Macadamia Nut Chi Chi - 4 stars There's a reason this is their most popular drink! Much more well balanced

The drinks were very good and strong. Big fan of the range of chips available and that the two TVs at the bar had such different things on - "King of the Hill" and a samurai drama. Never a dull moment between that and the fun decor. Staff was surface level nice, no fluff.

My husband LOVES Tiki bars, so when we visited Oakland he immediately looked up some local spots on Yelp. Stephanie Y. also recommended this spot and ended up going with us for a drink. From the very moment you walk up,you know you're in for a treat. The whole building and entrance screams Tiki bar. As we walked in through a cute alcove there was a security person checking IDs, but he sat so still, tucked into the dark corner, before interacting with us we almost thought he was a statue that was part of the aesthetic. He greeted us and we made our way in to decide where to sit. There is a lot to take in, they've done a great job decorating the place and you can tell they have some great custom decorations as well. We ended up sitting at the bar and the bartenders made sure we had some yummy drinks. They even have an option for the bartender to surprise you, which I love. They have a self serve water station and have bar seating, high top table seating as well as lower tables. The bar area gets a bit crowded but there are plenty of seating options in the restaurant. The drinks were delicious and it would be easy to end up staying here for hours trying them all. I ended up with a chi chi and sipped on a couple drinks my husband tried as well. They were all so tasty. I will say the random movies playing on the TV and non-beachy/tiki music took me out of the full Tiki experience, but I would definitely come back again for a cold beverage and to browse all their amazing decorations again.

I called just to see if they served food , and unfortunately they don't. However you can bring in your own food or have it door dashed . I did see a few people with chips with I do believe they sale. The ambience is very nice . Kinda of are to find this place at night . The area is dark and there isn't a real bright sign that says the name of the bar . I will definitely be back Drinks Price Range from - $ 10 - $14

Do they have any non-alcoholic drinks here?

    Yes

Called both numbers on the website and both said out of service?

They are still open for business.

Is it loud inside? Would this be a good place to catch up with friends you haven't seen in years and actually want to be able to talk to?

It's a party, but it's not so loud that you can't hear each other.

Great drinks and atmosphere. Dark lighting which is also nice. Music selection could be better for a tiki bar. All I heard was Rap, Rock and pop. Gonna need some beach music in here please?

I suggest someone start a petition to have this tiki bar play cuts from the album, PET SOUNDS BY the Beach Boys. I know this is not official tiki bar music. But I say give the public what they want. This album is the best surfing music of all times.…

Are there any good restaurants nearby to eat beforehand?

The tiki bar is located at the end of Piedmont Avenue. There are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance of 5 to 10 minutes away. Two minutes down the street is the Slicer for Great inexpensive pizza by the slice or pie. See my yelp…

Casual and relaxed vibe feeling like an island escape. Water was promptly provided and was kept refilled throughout our visit. We tried 4 cocktails. Solid painkiller and variety of drinks and flavors but my absolute favorite was the "Cucu Lada" this was essentially a piña colada with cucumber. Really refreshing and nicely prepared with crushed ice. We also tried the crab rangoons. These came out ultra fast but were not hot, seems like they prep them ahead of time. We had barely sat down and had not even had a chance to look at the menu when an employee approached us and told me that "the law" required my service dog to stay on the floor underneath the table. I explained that he is a very small service dog trained to respond to symptoms related to my disability and needs to remain close to me. He was on my lap, not on the restaurant's furniture or table. Instead of listening to my explanation, another employee came over with her phone already in hand to show us what she believed the law said. Both employees stood at our table repeatedly arguing with us about where my service dog was legally required to be. One employee even brought up having a quadriplegic family member with a service dog as justification for why she knew the rules. Every disability and service animal is different, and I found that comparison unnecessary and dismissive of what I was explaining about my own needs. The entire interaction made me feel singled out and embarrassed in front of other customers. Eventually, because the situation had become so uncomfortable, we had a family member take my service dog to our car and stay with him just to end the confrontation. That meant I was separated from the service animal specifically trained to assist me. Even after we agreed to remove him, the employees continued lecturing us. Afterward, we reviewed the U.S. Department of Justice's ADA guidance ourselves. The guidance states that generally a service dog must stay on the floor or the person may carry the dog, and it even provides an example involving a small service dog that needs to remain close to its handler to perform its disability-related work. I was never asking for my dog to sit on restaurant furniture or be placed on the table. What bothered me most was not simply being approached about a service animal, it was how the entire situation was handled. I should not have been made to feel like I had to publicly defend my disability-related need for my service dog just to sit down and have dinner. I hope management takes this experience seriously, reviews its service-animal policy, and provides employees with appropriate ADA training. Customers with disabilities and their service animals deserve to be treated respectfully and discreetly.

I'm absolutely blown away. I was surprised about how good everything was. Might have been the best…read morefood I've had this year. My family ordered 1 appetizer, 4 entrees, and 2 drinks, all shared, and all 4 of us agreed that EVERY single item was phenomenal. That has absolutely NEVER happened before. At most restaurants, there's always at least one thing that someone doesn't like, and often multiple things that multiple people don't like. Not the case here. The appetizer was the spicy basil wings. Very good to start. But little did I know what was coming my way. The drinks were Thai tea and lychee limeade. The Thai tea was normal. As in good, I liked it. The lychee limeade was amazing, had to order another one. I would like to try the mango next time (there will definitely be a next time). Very sour, which I love. I hate lemonade that's not sour enough. Oh and that too, I usually hate limeade, don't really care for lemonade, and don't drink soda. I usually only drink water, juice, or tea (no coffee, alcohol rarely). So that's saying something. The Laos fried spring roll entree was really good. I always liked fried rolls but something about this tasted better. They were Laotian rolls, so maybe that was part of the difference from the ones you get from Pho restaurants. The duck over rice was amazing. I'm not usually one to pick duck, I don't mind it but I usually don't order it, but this was my mom's choice and it was really good. I like the sauce too. The Panang duck curry was so good. My mom doesn't even like curry and she liked it. And the Chiang Mai soup dish, I've never had anything like it. It was still hot after, I don't know, 20 minutes maybe? At the bottom especially. We all ate this together at the end, while the other dishes were in the order I listed them for myself (mostly, kinda switched around a bit eating family style), and generally the same for everyone else. I tasted a tiny bit of the soup in the beginning and thought it was nothing special, like when my spoon was clean it was the first thing I scooped. Only the soup though, none of the stuff inside. Honestly I didn't read what was in it, some crispy noodle or something. I was not sure if I would like it but my sister said she had it in Thailand and liked it so if I didn't like it she could eat it. That ended up not being a problem. Okay so anyway, we started on the soup at the end. To start, it was pretty good. Somehow, every bite we took tasted better and better, for at least like 5-10 bites maybe. At that point, I was thinking it's the best thing I've ever tasted. (But of course that's probably not actually true, and I'm just falling for the recency bias, kind of like how my favorite song changes all the time.) Never had anything like it. I've been missing out. But wow, I have to come back. And I highly recommend this place. Life changing experience honestly. Like if you asked me right now if I wanted to get Japanese or Korean (my other favorites) food or this, I would go here. I honestly wanted more of every single dish, especially the fried spring rolls, duck over rice, duck curry, and soup. Wait a second... that's all the entrees we ordered! Also the limeade. I need to get that again. But I also want to try other stuff next time so I'm torn. I literally need all 4 of these dishes again so I don't know what to do. I hope these dishes aren't seasonal or otherwise temporary. I noticed the menu had a month and year listed (I think it said April 2026 and it's May 3 2026 today) so I believe they update it frequently. If I lived closer I would come 20 times in a row and try every single thing, but unfortunately I live in San Ramon so it's not like I'm trying to go to Oakland every day. Soon though. My sister lives there, if I were her I would go here every day until I was sick of it, if that could ever be possible. I don't know if I could ever enjoy other food this much again. I was also completely sober so it wasn't like I had munchies or anything (felt I should specify being a young adult who grew up in California). Hmm, that gives me an idea for the future though. Even the pricing is fair (no dishes over $30), and the place is nice. Great service too. The only drawbacks are small tables for parties over 4 people, and it's REALLY loud in the restaurant, but well worth it. If you are sensitive to noise I'd recommend earplugs, earmuffs, earbuds, headphones, or something. The place is also relatively small. I'd recommend making a reservation if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night. It got busy, very busy. Well our reservation was at 6 and it wasn't crowded yet, a couple tables open, but by the time our food came out the place was absolutely packed and I think people without reservations had to wait to sit. I'm not sure though, I was too focused on the amazing food to care. Anyway, once again, highly recommend and I will be back.

Came here on a Sunday night with my family, and we might have a competitor for our favorite Laos…read moreplace. We got the following : Lao Appetizers Plate - Everything had great texture with the sausage standing out the most to me. Very soft and not too salty. Garlic Pork Spare Ribs - Great flavor, but a little on the dry side. Still tender enough to enjoy. Duck Larb Salad - Bright flavors and everything worked really well together. Recommend adding this to any meal balance out the other fried items. Kao Piak - I find that most places over cook their chickens, but the meats here were cooked perfectly. Broth was a bit salty for me, and I usually like the broth thicker, but still good overall. Mango Sticky Rice - I liked the crispy fried rice bits that added a nice crunch. Mango wasn't quite in season right now, but it was still sweet and soft enough. Overall service was great, and there is a lot of parking in the area. Def recommend checking it out.
