PLJ Carpentry reinstalled two sets of exterior deck steps for me last fall after they were removed…read moreduring a patio project. The company wanted to schedule the work for around 5:00 PM. I specifically told Allan that I was concerned the job would be rushed if it started that late and asked him to make sure quality wasn't sacrificed just to get it done. He assured me multiple times that the work would not be rushed and that everything would be done properly. Unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. The steps were essentially slapped back together with little attention to detail. Boards were misaligned, gaps were inconsistent, and sections of the steps were installed directly against the shingles instead of being properly fitted and finished. After I raised concerns, Allan promised the issues would be corrected and personally assured me everything would be made right. Based on those assurances, I gave the company a second chance. After the crew returned, communication stopped and my text messages went unanswered. When I eventually returned home and inspected the work, the steps were in even worse condition. The PVC decking was scratched and damaged, and the installers drove screws directly through the decking without properly pre-drilling for the matching plug system. As a result, the holes couldn't even be plugged afterward, leaving an unacceptable finished product. In hindsight, I should have terminated the project after the initial installation and walked away from the deposit instead of giving the company a second chance. Unfortunately, the corrective work was worse than the original installation. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend using a different contractor.

We purchased all our own materials - he charged us over $12k to install the tile and new tub. Jean would constantly say he would be there and then not show up. He didn't return phone calls or texts. He would disappear for days with no explanation. The sporadic, inconsistent communication was the first red flag. He eventually finished the job and it looked fine. In June 2024 we were contacted by the owner of the condo beneath us that their guest bath ceiling fell in-due to water leaking from our guest bath. I immediately had a plumber go out and investigate. The plumber said this was not a plumbing problem. The leaks were due to cracks in grout and gaps in the tile/tub space. I contacted Jean and at first he denied ever doing the job which was unbelievable - the. He blamed the plumbing. Then he said the tub wasn't level (he installed the tub) then he blamed it on water splashing from the shower. I showed him the photos of the cracks and gaps in floor and tub - I asked him to take responsibility for his work and go repair the grout and seal the gaps with some silicon/caulking. He said he would be there after 3. He never showed and never called. I followed up the next business day he again said he would come out and do the repairs. Once again he was a no show. Doors starting at around $3000 is just sn astounding amount for the labor, ie assembly, milling, painting. Had seen one of their doors in the neighborhood and I stopped to inquire. Elderly woman told me she paid $9500 for 2 doors. Presumably that was including installation but possibly not.​

Chip stored them without complaint, and delivered them immediately upon being given the green light. Installer Chris had them in place within a day or two, and the hardware (knobs and drawer pulls) attached a day later. Drawer dividers for cutlery and cookware were included at no extra cost. Countertops and sink installation followed shortly thereafter.
