had a very difficult experience at Sand Dollar Dental that I feel others should be aware of. The staff overall were kind and welcoming, and I did have a positive interaction with Dr. Holly. However, my experience with Dr. Kurt was the complete opposite. During my appointment, I felt rushed, handled roughly, and at times dismissed when I showed discomfort. There were moments where I was yelled at in a way that felt unprofessional and upsetting, and physical interactions during the procedure felt more forceful than expected. At one point, my hand was pushed away while I was trying to communicate discomfort, which made the situation feel even more distressing. I left the appointment feeling extremely shaken, and the experience stayed with me for days afterward. Dental visits can already be stressful, especially for patients with anxiety, and this interaction made that significantly worse. I want to be clear that this review reflects my personal experience. While the office itself has a friendly staff, I would strongly encourage anyone who is nervous about dental visits to ask questions about who will be treating them beforehand. read more

Billing could improve, first off, my experience was quite awhile ago, there were major discrepinicies in my bill as i told my insurance was covering it, i payed quite a bit reguardless and was overcharged on my credit card more than the authorized amount which i am now disputing after trying to conclude this matter in many ways to get hung up on and harrsassed by a member of your staff named shawna, who also put my personal medical info on a google review which i have screenshot to turn over to hippa monday morning. Work was horrible, staff was even more horrible, 10 out of 10 would not recommend. And the type of care i received almost killed me because no one was using the suction hose. Was horrid. Paid a small fourtune for mini lower implants. Rubber rings wore out in a month. Went in and requested new rings to replace the old ones. Cost was quoted at $245.00. I left Sand Dollar and said thank you but no way. Went on Amazon, paid $10,00 for 50 O-rings for my dentures. Sand Dollar are nothings but thives. Let me begin by saying this team here is VERY COMPREHENSIVE! Thorough in nature. Great attitudes. Fun. Upbeat. Knowledgeable. I'm currently sitting in the chair awaiting Dysport for my forehead so people won't be able to tell if I'm mad or not at them. Seriously...what I've observed with their dental patients is on point. My dentist at Foley Family Dentistry referred for a new partial. My experience was terrible, and I reported this to my dentist. It's wonderful they have a lab yet if it includes poor follow-up care then why refer patients to them. The partial was uncomfortable the first time I placed it in my mouth. The assistant showed me that the partial fit my mold. It hurt, she left the room several times and returned with no one. I was told there was nothing more she could do. The thin resin of the partial was leaving sores on my cheek, I resorted to using a craft knife to resolve the problem. If you are someone who has relocated here to retire as I have, left an excellent dentist and staff who gave you a positive experience with your last partial, I would not recommend this staff. read more

My experience with Sand Dollar was terrible! Shawna the one in charge of billing/ins told me they took my insurance after I emailed my ins card. 3 appointments and 4 extractions later they come to tell me the insurance needs more info. So I called and they tell me Sand Dollar is out of network and nothing is covered. Now I owe a hefty bill. I just wish they notified me after the first appointment. Terrible customer service. I know it's ultimately the patient responsibility but I've always trusted the billing department to know what insurance they get paid out by and never been given false info. Thought I would share my experience even though the office manager said "go ahead, we're used to it, no one reads them anyway." Had a crown replaced that did not line up. Dentist declared it a success. Was in another part of the country and requested X-rays, didn't receive because they spelled the address for the next dentist incorrectly, then sent me an email to confirm to a misspelled address. Spent an extra $220 since I didn't have the X-rays. The new dentist fixed the crown, the tooth had cement or "flashing" which they cleaned up and everything was fine. After wearing my first pair made at Sand Dollar, which was made 10 years ago they were wonderful, beautiful and fit well. Never had an issue. May then in May I go back to Sand Dollar after trying to get insurance to cover my new dentures with them only to be so disappointed Had dentures made. I have had nine or 10 revisits. They told me I could come as many times as needed for adjustments each adjustment. The teeth got worse and worse. They filed the actual molars down almost to the gum line and they were dull To the point, I could not chew my food this last visit, which was this past Tuesday July 16, 2024, the tech came in to speak to me asked me what the problem was. I tried to show him. The pictures explained that the teeth had been filed down so much they were not able to meet in the back and if I tried to get them to close in the back, the front was so gapped I could not, bite my food only for a few hours each time my mouth would blister terribly top and bottom, and I would have cuts in the bottom of my lip!! I asked Billy who is the name of the technician there at this point to either start from ground up, he told me no that was not happening or give me a full refund in which case I wanted the $200 cash back that I had to pay for the extra white tea that I never did receive! He told me that was not happening! He said he was not gonna give me a refund because they were special order I explained to him I understand they were special order. I paid for that special order out of my own pocket! Finally, I kept telling him I'm not sitting here arguing with you if you don't want to work with me, I will have to file with my insurance company which! I now have an appointment to see the owners on August 2. Not sure if it will do any good or not, but my insurance company encourage me to go ahead and file the grievance can always be canceled if they work this out for me I am tired of people not doing what they are getting paid to do and they put the blame on the customers! I explained to him I cannot explain what happened. I just know that I came to them and good faith trust him, my dentures to be wearable, which they are not.!!! I will post an update after I meet with the owners/dentists August 2 just please beware things are not always as appeared. I think I have finally found a good dentist. Did I say good? I meant great. Here's why: First of all I had a bridge that's been in my mouth a long time fall out. It needed to be recemented. So I called a couple of dentists. No one else wanted to do it. I'm also uninsured so that's probably why. I called these folks and not only did they say they'd do it, they fit me in the same day. I showed up and they took me in very quickly which was awesome. The assistant was personable but doctor holly was EXCELLENT. She listened to my story, took me seriously, gave me a quick exam and gave me some options. I said "we'll have to reschedule because of the cavity right?" (I'm used to that). But no. She offered to do it right then. Then I told her I have a problem with anesthesia not working. Guess what? SHE BELIEVED ME. And she gave me extra. And I did not feel a thing!!! Not only that but she didn't even charge me extra for the filled cavity! She checked on me while she was working several times to make sure I was ok. She didn't use those awful pincers to hold my mouth open either which is half the reason I usually hate the dentist. I will absolutely be giving these folks my business in the future. Been there twice for an emergency abscessed tooth because they claim that they do emergencies. Went in this last time with my tooth throbbing in pain on the 24th of February 2022 and they said they could fit me in on the 15th of March. I looked at them in discuss and walked out. Do not under any circumstances use them..i thought they were great as the office staff is wonderful but dont have anything other than a cleaning done here and i question that ..do not have the dentures made cause if the teeth are set in wrong and the place your implants are supposed to fit is set way off to the side and your new dentures cut sores in your mouth ,They do NOT CARE . The dentures were taken to another dentist to try and salvage and he deemed them totally unfixable and made completely wrong .. the tech at sandollar who fitted them would not listen to my husband when told how ill fitting they were and the dentist without even looking at them was very dismissive and very rude said they are perfect..they are also so thin in spots you can see right thru them They looked ridiculous being set so far back and incorrect that you could not even see his teeth when he talked or smiled..and having a medical condition this constant rubbing and mouthsores is really bad for him to deal with constantly.. under no circumstances will your money be refunded nor will they make you a new pair..they will however offer to adjust the ones they made incorrectly and will never be adjusted properly without being totally remade ..how do you adjust hard plastic made completely off as to where the implant fits for one , that is totally impossible nor can u move the top teeth to the proper position. The preview impression will fit but once they put the teeth in if they are off , which these were , they will not redo or put them in properly.. and even with seeing this that they are done wrong will insist to you they are perfect..and these dentures are not cheap, but are so cheaply made.. Also do not have a front tooth filled as they use a horrible color filling that doesnt match your other teeth and is not smooth in the least and costs a fortune...i have never had such poor customer service in my life and never had a dentist be so rude and unhelpful once they have your money..Be aware of this all before u go there from our awful experience. The answer from the office below is totally untrue..all of it..they never tried to make it right. I'm writing this because I was so sad to see bad reviews of this dental office. I've been a patient at Sand Dollar Dental for nearly two years and my personal experience has been excellent. The office staff are very efficient and friendly but what has impressed me most is the honesty of Dr Kurt Reineck, as on two occasions he has had the opportunity to proceed with expensive treatment and he advised me to wait and see if the problem would settle down. On another occasion, I had a crown put in and the outcome has been very good. It is essential to be able to trust one's dentist and he has definitely earned mine. Horribly unorganized and unprofessional staff. Seriously haven't had any other business ever disregard my questions and concerns like this place. I explained my situation to them during the consultation visit. With my work schedule. They assured me that they could make it all work. When my procedure dates started I had to pry out them the dates at which each procedure would be scheduled. I need a new pair upper dentures and they still wouldn't fit right. wernt back a few time and dental asstist was not that nice because i told her they still didn't fit right, she told me to suck on candy. Then they couldn't do the mini and sent to somewhere else for implants. Well then was told by 2 different places that they were to big and didn't fit my mouth and to heavy. Well I told them I wanted my money back and they still refuse to this day. I have called Chambers in Foley also BBB.I also talked to attorney about small claims court. They are good talker in the beginning but if they are told they are wrong or something wrong with denture then they are not to friendly. They may be good at doing teeth work but not in making denture. I will get the word out. I have talked to a lady that husband havign the same problem and his dentures do not fit his implants. They refused to give there money back so now he is wearing old dentures. It is unfair how they are doing me and also other people.
