We have also dabbled in Canine Fitness classes with Leah. She is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the anatomy and physiology of dogs. Knowing that Leah strives for continued education keeps my mind at ease when she works with my pups. Each student has a custom plan tailored to their particular needs, as well as very detailed homework to do after class is over. This is the nonjudgmental environment that my husband and I have been looking for since my first pup was 8 weeks old. I wish we would have found WLTC sooner, but it's better late than never!

The Family Companion actually holds classes at multiple locations across Western New York, and the class I took was at their location on Southwestern Blvd. Their classes are all generally 8 weeks in length and they offer puppy training classes, senior dog training, the family companion class, graduate companion as well as others like therapy and an agility fun course. My dog and I did the family companion class with Kim Sauer. There were a total of 9 dogs in the class so it wasn't overcrowded which was great for my dog, who has some anxiety issues among other dogs/strangers. The instructor was incredibly patient, knowledgable and friendly. If anyone had a question or issues with anything, she took the time to assist and explain things adequately. I can't wait to get into our next class here and would highly recommend this facility to those looking for a good place to train their dog. They're also very reasonably priced which is a definite bonus!

I took him to this class with 6 other dogs and their owners and initially he was shaking and panting and yawning and would not even take a treat or look at me during the first session. Marcia was so patient and encouraging and you could tell she really cared. After the course my dog was completely paying attention to me, not shaking, panting, or yawning. He learned most of the common commands when he didn't know any to begin with. Such a great class for such a reasonable price!

We were lucky enough to take obedience classes, fun workshops, and the "University" day school (combo of personalized training & doggy playtime/daycare) with our golden retriever, Midas. All the instructors and assistants are fantastic! Supernova has a gorgeous facility and all instruction is based on positive reinforcement and helping your dog to make good choices. They do an excellent job explaining what each baby step is meant to solidify--so that you as a human aren't tempted to skip a step and then wonder why your dog hasn't consistently followed through with their obedience skills. Classes are usually small (and/or have assistants to help) so that your dog gets 1-on-1 time to help with any issues you're working through. While training and practice is a lifetime thing, we have noticed impressive success with Midas' training and get compliments on his behavior considering his young age. We could not have done that without the help of Noelle, Kim, and the rest of the Supernova team.

He is now able to show restraint around other dogs, food, etc. Walking him is a breeze, he stays right by our side and rarely pulls. He no longer barks repeatedly at us or gets in biting moods. We called this place THREE times to enroll our puppy in classes. The second time, a woman answered and told me she'd call me later that day...she never called. The third time we spoke to a new woman (on speakerphone) who told us the day, date & time of the class and she confirmed our enrollment. We showed up (15 minutes early per their request) and there was one older employee doing agility with her senior dog, she largely ignored us. Then another woman, also an employee, came in asking us what we were doing there. We said we were there for puppy class and wondered where the instructor (and other people/puppies) were. She said that the instructor's Poodle was having surgery that week so there's no way she would have been starting a new class that day. Ridiculous since both my husband and I clearly heard the date & time AND immediately we both set reminders on our phone. We really wanted to take our puppy here since they have a pretty nice looking agility course and their classes included an intro to it, but they're so disorganized. It is clear that the owner(s) and instructors don't communicate too often or too well. I have five friends who recently got puppies and asked me if this place was good and I told them to steer clear from it.

The reviews for Paws Play and Stay are for a different facility than PAWS Canine Activity Center. I'm not sure what I could say about PAWS that my dog Bailey hasn't already said about Fetch 'n Catch (you can read her review under the Yelp listing for Fetch 'n Catch). This place is run by a fun, energetic, dedicated staff of dog-lovers. Their hours are super convenient and the service they provide is unmatched. Before I found Fetch 'n Catch / PAWS, I was paying a local dog walking company over $30 for a thirty-minute walk. For not much more, Bailey gets an entire day of exercise and learning. We reinforce her door manners and commands at home, and she's a much happier dog because of it. It's also really convenient to be able to get Bailey's baths, nail trimmings, and tooth brushings done on her school days. We do our booking online, but you can also call, text, or stop in. I recommend PAWS / Fetch 'n Catch to every dog owner I meet. They are worth their weight in gold!

Found this location online, needed a one day a week daycare for our 4 month old Beagle puppy, and wanted it for his socialization as well. Took him for a meet and greet and he did great (as we expected!), we set up a half day introductory daycare appt and two full days after that, as that is what they require. After the first half day, I was informed at pick up that he wasn't a good fit because he barked during crate time and it was an anxious "attention getting" bark. They offered to try a 2nd half day to try a quieter crating area. Within 1 hour of drop off I was called to pick him up since NOW he was barking during play. I was told to call upon arrival because the door would be locked since they had him secluded in the empty grooming salon, alone. Unbelievable. When someone came to open the door they were carrying our puppy as if to shove him in my arms the moment I entered. I was told he was too anxious for daycare, but was a good dog and not aggressive. I was told he "missed his mommy" when I left and that I should try taking him to public places for socialization, as well as separating from him more often. I was VERY confused since he has been left at a dogsitters home for 2 full weekends in the 2 months we have had him and he did just fine both times for 3 days each time... and they welcome him back. This puppy goes EVERYWHERE... from the park to Home Depot to Target and allll the area pet stores... he's on a first name basis with much of the staff at Cabela's! I would never want my dog to be under any kind of stress, but I would think it is pretty common for ANY puppy to show some kind of anxiety during their first few days of daycare. I am terribly disappointed that nothing was done to try and get our dog acclimated to daycare, and the best option was to resort to putting him in a crate in an empty room alone. Very disappointed that they seemed to quickly dismiss our dog.

If you've heard of stories about underground fencing - most likely it's because the owner was not trained rather then the dog. It takes training for both owner and dog for an underground fence to really work well and Tom Beitz knows how to make it happen. His logo statement is creative as well, Where Sit Happens". Verbal and visual commands both work on our dog! Tom Beitz, even the name is fitting, is a professional dog trainer that we've used to train two GSD's with much success and both remain in our yard with an invisible fence. He also stands behind all the products and gives you the individual attention that dog owners need. With both individual training and group training - you and your dog deserve the best and I highly recommend giving Tom a call if you have any dog training needs. We've been dealing with Tom for over 5 years now and recently had to have him stop over to look at a broken collar. While he was there - he gave us some additional instructions for both dogs, replaced the collar and off he went. It doesn't get better then this!

Flipping through the book I found his web site cited for obedience and off leash training. When I looked up the site and found he was from Hamburg, NY I couldn't believe it! He came to our home once a week for basic obedience training for our puppy at about 3 months old. His techniques are amazing! Our dog took to them quickly. He helped us with pulling, jumping issues and helped us to sit stay, leash walk and place. He is experienced and truly cared about our dog. We are calling him again when she is 9 months old to start more advanced obedience and off leash work. I recommend Smart Dog Solutions for anyone who wants a "good dog." Truly we learned that there are no bad dogs, just untrained ones. Phoebe is well on her way to becoming a certified therapy dog!
