They truly take the time to listen to my questions/concerns and thoroughly explain the procedures and what to expect during recovery. This is hands down the best practice I've ever worked with from Brittany always greeting me with a smile at the front desk to Carol working with me on insurance and billing to the wonderful staff of nurse practioners and nurses (especially Kristin, Noel and Julianna) who are so caring and helpful. I'm so thankful that I got my second opinion with Dr Shashoua because he had to spend extra time on me during surgery because I had endometriosis as well as adenomyosis. I am now 12 weeks out. I feel like I never even had surgery. I feel amazing. I'm so thankful I had it done with an amazing doctor and Staff. I couldn't be more happy.

I was scheduled for mid April and the scheduler took down all my contact and insurance information. Well, a few days before my visit I called the office to confirm my appointment and the staff member tells me your appointment is scheduled for April 2023. Who schedules their annual physical a year in advance? When I told the staff the scheduler obviously made a mistake they were able to fit me in for the following week due to a cancellation. Of course, I decided to confirm my appointment a day in advance, especially after my last incident, at which point the staff mentions that Dr Howerton is out of town and that I would be seen by the nurse practitioner instead. I was relieved that despite yet another oversight by this medical office that my health care needs were finally addressed. Fast forward to today, I had a virtual visit scheduled at 7:45 AM with Dr Howerton due to some recent health concerns. The online reminder email told me to sign in 15 minutes prior so I did as suggested. Promptly at 7:45 AM I logged into the tele-health call and waited until 8:00 AM and Dr. Lena Howerton was a no-show. Obviously this institution and its staff has no regard for their patients' time or well-being for that matter.

I approached my primary care doctor at ARC about sleep studies. ARC quickly cut through red tape and I and the Lady both had studies set up just 3 blocks from our house. My results were processed and he made a perfect recommendation for a CPAP. Our insurance is complex, but he even helped in cross-walking equipment firms that covered everything. After one month, I am a new person. Yesterday was the critical first month data collection and thanks to great selection and recommendations, I cleared the requirements for all insurance. We even started planning for the next year.

He is polite and cordial, but also very dismissive. I want to warn anyone considering this office to be prepared for billing errors in which their office manager will not correct. I wish someone would revoke her license! There were so many red flags, but the last straw was when my husband was continuing to lose weight at a rapid pace, and she just gave him a lecture claiming he was pocketing the pills and not taking them. Immediately after that appointment, I started looking for a new doctor for my husband and I found Dr. Segu. Seeing all the positive reviews, I knew he would be the one to help him. Coming in for his first visit, I was nervous. Even though he had great reviews, I just wanted someone to help my husband. But all my worries went away when I saw Dr. Segu come to the waiting room, and happily wave at his wife when he saw her. Seems silly, but that showed me he was a kind person and had a heart. (Unlike my husband's previous doctor) When we went in, the nurse practitioners were great and so kind. It made the experience all the better. And Dr. Segu is literally Superman. He was our hero and saved my husband's life. Pretty much, my husband's thyroid was just killing itself and no medication was helping him. After some trial and errors, Dr. Segu decided he would need surgery. My husband was just one of those "lucky" individuals who had it so bad that he would need surgery. At one point, my husband had to make an ER trip because he had severe heart palpitations. Thankfully, a simple phone call to Dr. Segu's office made everything better. He quickly prescribed a new medication for my husband to take up until a little after his surgery. The thought of surgery was definitely scary. We weren't prepared for it, but Dr. Segu made everything better for us. He assured us everything would be ok, and he went above and beyond and recommended us an amazing surgeon. He even talked to him personally for us. What doctor does that? A great one that is! In the end, my husband's surgery went great, and almost a year later, my husband is back to normal and doing so much better. Honestly, if I didn't find Dr. Segu, I'm not sure my husband would be here right now. He was probably on the verge of having a thyroid storm, but Dr. Segu saved the day. On behalf of my husband and I, seriously, thank you to the entire staff and especially to Dr. Segu. You have assure my husband a long and happy life. He offers preventative care, and is quick to take measures to deal with burgeoning health issues. I appreciate that he is quick to admit it if he feels that something requires more specialized care. He has helped me through more than I can say. I was a practicing attorney, and due to severe chronic pain from fibromyalgia, he worked with me to come to the realization that I had to stop practicing and go on disability. He tirelessly helped me through the process to obtain disability by filling out and submitting numerous records and documents. Never one did he ask me to pay him to do any of it. I know that I can rely on his advice and recommendations, and trust him completely. He is attentive and never fails to inquire about anything going on in my life that impacts my health. I recommend him without reservation. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to share my only complaint. For the first 20+ years, Dr. Berent had a solo practice centrally located in Austin. I could call his office the first thing in the morning, and secure an appointment the same day if the need arose. His staff was professional and responded to issues quickly. If a referral, prescription refill or anything else was needed, it would be done efficiently and fast. He would spend as much time as necessary with each patient. He has been in practice for quite some time, and he decided to close his practice and join Baylor Scott & White up North off of N. Mopac. Since we live in Dripping Springs, and given Austin's horrendous traffic, it takes quite a while to reach the location. Although Dr. Berent still spends the necessary time to discuss how I am doing, he is no longer available five days a week. i totally understand that after decades, he wants to slow down, Nevertheless, there is no question that at BSW, it takes much longer to get anything done, from prescription refills, referrals, and documents for lab work. More than once, I've gone for lab work, doctor's appointments, or diagnostic tests to find that they had not received the proper paperwork. Granted, this is not Dr. Berent's responsibility, but it is a problem. Nonetheless, I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Berent. He is an excellent doctor, and I have always felt blessed to have him as my doctor.
