The Inner-Urban trail takes you almost all of the way up there yet you do have to hop onto some of the city roads. The park is right next to Silver Creek Brewer so it is nice to bring a growler to fill up before bringing it to the park. Summer Sounds brings good acts, is never too packed, and is really laid back. Over the last couple of years they have added food tents that include the Nines, a hotdog place, BBQ place, popcorn, beer/wine text, and a few others. There is plenty of bike parking. The street parking does get a little packed on these nights so be prepared for a few block walk.

They have pre-picked apples, caramel apples, various baked apple desserts and fresh pressed cider, as well as cider slushies. There is also a variety of home decor and gift items for sale. There was a cart outside with small pumpkins and gourds for sale as well. There is a short walk on a gravel path to get to the orchard. We strolled through the rows of trees and different varieties and picked almost a peck (you purchase bags by the orchard). Since the pick your own sold out quickly, we were able to supplement our bag with pre-picked apples from a bin. Out by the orchard you can dine at the Cidery - we didn't stop there this time but the menu looks great. There was outdoor seating available there. They have lots of parking (it was nearly full on this day), and lots of space to spread out, have a snack, take photos, and enjoy a beautiful Wisconsin day. Be wary of bees if you have allergies as they were plentiful, enjoying all of the juicy apples on the ground.

Cedarburg is the perfect little town to host Five Festive Friday Eves. Think Hallmark movie during…read morethe holidays. Yes, that is exactly what this is like. The town celebration is perfect for families, couples, friends, seniors, locals or visitors. There is something for everyone. I imagine when there is not a virus looming, this little town really bustles. On this Friday there were many people enjoying themselves, without a scary crowd. We were able to stroll, have a coffee, shop, dine and finish with a cocktail & live music at a tiny bed and breakfast without ever having to get too close to anyone. There's a ton of shops that line the street offering anything you can imagine. There is jewelry, clothing, gifts, home goods and yard decor just to name a few. You could visit one of the Five Festive Friday Eves and stay a few more days to see everything. I watched families with wagons, walk along putting out lights in bags that line the beautiful main street. Free trolley rides are available.The Rivoli Theater offers classic holiday movies. The Shops At Cedar Creek Settlement gave a way goodies & tote bags, there was a raffle and was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The Cedarburg Art Museum created an Enchanted Garden with holiday lights and a bonfire. Mr. & Mrs. Claus even have a small home built with a mailbox for letters to Santa. Just down the road is Herman A Zeunert Park. You can drive through and experience their holiday lights. A donation as you enter is very much appreciated. In addition to all this excitement, there are a ton of restaurants and pubs. I did not go in but peeked in the windows. They all seemed to have the crowds nicely spaced out. There are so many choices. There is American fare, Mexican, pizza, crepes and even a nice steakhouse. Checking out the wineries, local breweries and even a moonshiery that offers moonshine and whiskey is a must on a later visit. I fell in love with this adorable town and cannot sing it's praises enough. Five Festive Friday Eves embodies everything a small town stands for - family, fun and the holiday spirit!

What a great time. Lots of local vendors selling clothing, accessories, decor, and food. The bands…read morenear the winery are always amazing and entertaining. They cover a variety of Genres of music. The winery sells glasses and bottles of wine for you to drink, share or take home. Don't forget to stop in the shops along the streets. The food and beverages are always a reflection of the festival (Strawberry or Harvest), and they're tasty. There are several cash stations and banks nearby, but always best to bring cash. Great for families and adults to have fun. It ends at 6pm on Saturdays and 5pm on Sundays.

We went toward the white, given the heat and toward the dry, because we hate sweet wines. Service was friendly and quick. The pours were generous. The wines were much better than I'd expected from a small town winery, located far from any wine country. But the prices per bottle are a little high, which makes sense since they can't rely on economy of scale in production. The tasting, however, is an excellent value. The shop is cute and carries some fun wine related items. They also do classes and allow people to bottle their own wine. Make sure to say hello to the friendly shop dogs.

The space itself was so fun and historic!! All of the decor is on theme for the time period, giving you a blast from the past. While it was historic, it still felt incredibly well-done and intentionally finished. The living room/dining room combo area was perfect for the 20-30 adults mingling and there is space upstairs and outside to spread out if needed. We used their in house catering and bartending, which was phenomenal. Heavy appetizers included fruit tray, artichoke dip, meatballs, cheese curds, and assorted sliders. The meatballs were my favorite with a sweet and umami sauce that was delectable. Overall, a really great event space for small to medium gatherings!

Their were not signs stating where or how things were basically set up. We received a brochure at the end before we left. It seemed more of just a drinking and bad music event. We had the fish and chips which were ok. We did notice that even though supposed to be same fish and chips at each booth that some prepared it differently so the quality was different. Also the amount given varied. Before we went we did hear from others that we probably would not enjoy the event. We went in with positive feelings though really wanting to enjoy our time there. Well we were not impressed. None of us plan on returning next year to this event.

Shuttle buses run up and down the main streets so parking isn't a huge issue. I've been to this festival 4+ times now and have always found street parking close enough to walk. The local shops tend to stay open later than normal for the festival, which is great for visitors. There is no entry fee for the festival, however carry-ins are not permitted. Prices this year (2014) were $7 for the fish and chips, $4 Miller Lite, $5 Redd's Apple Ale.... so a little on the pricier side but the fish fry was pretty delicious. They have a midway with some rides and carnival games. There are several stages with live music. The main stage usually features some 80's or 90's act and does cost a couple dollars, this year it was $5 for the main stage. I think it is standing room only. My favorite part of Fish Day is the fireworks. They are awesome and it is easy to get "front row" seating. They are launched from what use to be the old storage ground for coal at the We Energies generation station, which is across the small harbor from the festivities. In the morning there is an 8k race that is pretty challenging and then a ridiculous parade around 10am. I hope to run the race again next year and stay for the parade because it is entertaining! I really enjoy this festival and recommend the race to my fellow runners. I will be back next year! :D

Rose-Harms Post #355, in Grafton, is the American Legion Post that has it going on! There's a group…read moreof friendly Veterans, an Auxiliary Group, and a Sons of the American Legion group housed in the building. All three work together to support various community activities throughout Grafton and the State of Wisconsin. They sponsor local youth groups, contests at local schools, a baseball program, a summer camp for Veterans and their families, and support active duty personnel through National campaigns. The building is regularly used by many groups in the community. It has become a regular meeting site for many community based organization seeeking to contribute to making life better for citizens in Grafton, Wisconsin, and America at large. The building can be rented for private parties and is a beautiful location for a wedding, bridal shower, party, or meeting. We host a BINGO, have tent rentals, a bar on site, a color guard to perform military honors and parades, and U.S. flags. We still manage to get together to laugh and enjoy each other's company, too! If you're a Grafton Veteran, come check out the American Legion Post #355. If you're not a Veteran, support but saying hello, buying poppies, or just placing your hand on your heart (or clapping) when we pass you with the flag in a parade! It means a lot to us.
