5 wine tasting!
Ally S.

Highlights 1) Friendly (and Fun!) Service 2) Conveniently Located in Downtown Port Washington 3) Lots of Wines to Try I first heard about Vines to Cellar from my 2023 wine tags. The space is easy to find and is centrally located in downtown Port Washington. Street parking is available. There are TONS of wines to try at this cute Urban winery. Truly something for everyone, lots of sweet wines and a good selection of drier varieties. It's in an urban area so obviously the grapes aren't grown on site but I did find a few wines here that I liked. If you do the tasting you get the 5 wines in this fun wine tower! Service here was great. I believe it was the owners who helped us when we were there. They seem like really cool people and we had a lot of fun chatting with them about travel and wine. I'm so glad I found out about this place! Will definitely be back.

We stopped by here on our last day in town and we are so glad we did. We were greeted by 2 of the sweetest pups so I knew it would be a good visit. Being a Monday and barely the afternoon we were the only ones there. They have such a great selection of both dry reds, whites, sweet wines and dessert wines. The owner was very nice as we chatted with him a bit. Would definitely come back to explore port Washington a bit more.

Wonderful experience and such a good price for the tasting! It was above and beyond expectations, and there wasn't a single wine I did not enjoy. Bought a few bottles, and I will be definitely be bringing more people here.

$5 for 5 wine tasting.

The girlfriend and I decided to take a trip to walk around downtown Port Washington when we walked past this great pace. We went in during the mid-afternoon. The location has been around for 5 years and used to be an artists studio so they have great artwork on the walls and a huge, artificial tree as you walk in with grape vines hanging off it. This is a family run business with their dog, Sassy, that is the sweetest dog there is. They selling equipment and kits to make your own wine, wine accessories, and of course, all of the wine they make there. All the wine they sell is reasonably priced around $10-$18 with the majority being $12.50 per bottle. You can sit down at the bar that seats around 8 people comfortably and they will give you 3 one ounce samples for free to try. They also give you a sheet with all of the names and styles of wines with a pen to write your thoughts during tasting. For $5 you get 5 bigger tastings that come with a Vines to Cellar wine glass - we did this. After trying several wines they still had around 20 more to try! We decided on a few bottles, which they packed up nicely for us, and told us about upcoming events. The service was great and they are extremely friendly. It is a block off the main drag so I feel it gets lost in the shuffle yet definitely glad we stumbled upon this place. I'll be back soon enough.

This place is somewhat "hidden" a block off the main drag through downtown Cedarburg (Washington…read moreSt.). They have a very large selection of cheeses from Wisconsin, the US, and abroad, with lots of unique offerings. We tried a chicken soup Monterrey jack and a mustard Gouda, both of which we really enjoyed. The chicken soup cheese actually tastes like chicken broth from a rich soup, which was definitely a new experience. The room is decorated and bright, and felt like a great spot to stop on a Saturday afternoon. It's a nice change of pace from the usually-crowded bars through downtown Cedarburg. You should be aware that the tasting room apparently can't serve charcuterie boards themselves because of the class of license (maybe no food service cert.) but they're happy to help you enjoy any of the cheeses you purchased in the store and offer you some wine(s) to accompany them. The bartender graciously offered us some crackers to go with the plate and we were able to put together a satisfying little wine tasting experience! The one thing I would like to see is a few more wines on offer for the wine flights; at the time, they were a bit heavy on sweet white wines, which is just not my taste but may be popular in the area. They also have a cocktail list, beers, and their own brand of several liquors, so there are plenty of options. We will be back for a nice afternoon glass of wine and some cheese. It's also a good source of reasonably priced cheeses and wine if you want to have a picnic at the parks nearby.

Highlights/Lowlights…read more 1. Friendly Service 2. Great Wine 3. Light Snacks Available I visited AppleWorks for the first time this afternoon and loved it! There is ample parking on site making this winery very accessible. We were treated by the friendly bartender who I believe is the owner. She explained their wines to us in just enough detail and walked us through how to make selections for a flight. I did the red flight and you got 4 wine samples for $12. Super affordable! We also ordered a large cheeseboard which was more than enough for two. There are pizzas and soft pretzels available at night on the weekends but since we were here on a Friday afternoon they weren't serving those yet. A lot of Wisconsin wineries do really well with sweet wines but don't have a large dry offering. My flight of 4 red wines was perfectly dry! We really enjoyed our time and can't wait to come back and try what looked like a really nice outdoor are when the weather gets warmer.

Bottles tend to run $15-$20 for whites, mid $30s for reds, and $45-50s for reserve bottles. The proprietors are friendly and knowledgeable. Though adding a pallet cleanser of some crackers or even water would be an improvement for tastings.

This is such a cool winery. They just opened in March and have dazzling beach photos on the wall…read more It feels like I was somewhere tropical. They also have wine and tropical merchandise to purchase. The wines are made from tropical fruits. The range from sweet to dry and are offering free wine tasting. You are given a sheet that list all the wines and you have the opportunity to try six wines. Plus you get to try a wine slushy. Some of the wines I tried were: key lime, white gold peach, Florida banana (tasted like eating a fresh banana), coco polada (their take on a pina colada), and strawberry blush. The Hot Sun is their take on a bloody mary and smells like a tomato. Overall, it was a great experience and the wine pours are very generous. The bartenders were very nice and you can tell they were having fun explaining all the wines. Definitely a must try!

We came just after opening on a Friday- Megan, the owner, was there to great us and was very friendly and answered questions we had about the wine and smoothie mixes they have for sale. None of the wines are made by "Sunshine Winery" but instead are all brought in from a winery in Florida. The craziest thing is that NONE of the wines in the shop contain any grapes. I have never tried a wine that didn't have grapes in it!! We took advantage of the great offer to sample any 6 wines- I am not a huge fan of banana flavored items but decided to taste the banana wine and it tastes just like a banana laffy taffy! My favorite was probably the "Blueberry Blue" - it was listed under a dry wine but I would say it still had a sweet finish. I do think most of the wines I tried are too sweet to enjoy much more than a glass but I am still amazed that there are that many wines made from non-grape fruits. I think it will be an even better place to visit once they are able to sell wine by the glass. Again, I wasn't ready to commit to being able to drink a bottle of the wine since it was sweet but would definitely come in for a glass. The location is super cute & full of bright colors. The also sell smoothies & we sampled two of the flavors while here- they are designed to be made with wine mixed in so that will be a great feature too once wine can be sold by the glass. We left with a bottle of the orange cream smoothie mix & I cant wait to try this at home! Thank you for a fun experience during our visit!
