My appointment had already been rescheduled from 10:00 to 11:15, and then she was still late coming in. I had driven an hour for this eyebrow appointment after 6 months of completing five sessions of laser removal and $500 later. While mapping my eyebrows, she stopped to talk to a technician next to me about a biblical/scripture story for at least eight minutes. I felt that discussing religion in a professional setting--especially when the client is essentially stuck in the chair--was inappropriate, and quite frankly, I just didn't want to hear it. I politely told her it was making me uncomfortable and anxious, and that I wanted to focus on finishing my brows. Instead of acknowledging my request, she told me she could not continue because SHE felt anxious, and then refused to do my brows, saying she would refund my money. This was especially frustrating because I had already been told she was moving and only available once a month, which made getting this appointment completed all the more important. I feel her actions were unprofessional and inconsiderate toward a client who had invested significant time, money, effort, and travel. A simple "I'm sorry, no problem" would have gone a long way in resolving the situation. For context, as soon as my friend heard Amanda was moving, she scheduled with someone else--and in hindsight, I wish I had done the same. She refused to reschedule my appointment and left me with NO BROWS. Very unethical. I should have read the reviews first-I am not the only one with issues with Beneath The Surface.

But owner said the certificate is only good for a service that says the word SPA in front of it on their menu and must be used in one visit. HOWEVER the only service on menu that says the word SPA in front of it is Spa Pedicure which costs $65. Thus the $100 certificate that I bought was false advertising and is not able to be redeemed. DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPONS OR CLIPP CERTIFICATES. They are a SCAM! NO way to redeem them for the $100. It should not say $100 Towards Any Spa Service when there is only one service that you can use the certificate on and it isn't even $100.
