I have heard horror stories time and again about this dump. 1. My IRS refund in this suspicious white envelope with no stub? Hey it's money! 2. You want me to mail in my tax forms? Gee whiz, is this 1949? 3. You couldn't possibly be overcharging me, right? Everyone pays the same of course! These douche canoes lure you in with the promise of more money from Uncle Sam from these tried and true methods: 1. Give me all your dependents! The more the merrier. 2. No SSN? No problem, you'll still get money [somehow]. 3. Have your refund sent to our offices, we'll take care of everything else and remove your stresses with the IRS! LOL. I mean, LOL. If you want to come here, you're better off setting fire to your actual cash for the same effect. Here's the thing, this father/son duo prey on the Latino community who are tax ignorant. Well not completely, but their tactics on bamboozling you is contigent on you not knowing enough about your tax rights to steal your money would make a used car salesman blush. Let's be real here, if you're in California / Orange County and are just afraid of online tax applications like Turbo Tax despite them making it ridicuously to understand and file, then at least do your homework and research your tax preparer. I mean, you wouldn't hand over your cash to a fake bank just because the wrote "BANC" in front of building and you take them at their word, right? Or am I just asking too much here? 1. Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) = MUY IMPORTANTE. Any compensated tax preparer MUST have this. It's the equivalent of having a medical degree to practice medicine. No PTIN? Someone else's PTIN? BAD BAD NEWS. STAY AWAY! STRANGER DANGER. The prepares of this company do not have PTINs but I'm sure you already knew that! California Tax Education Council (CTEC) registered tax preparer (CRTP) = this a secondary license specific to tax preparers in California. I HEAR THESE GUYS LEAVE ONCE TAX SEASON IS OVER! OOps. Lastly, follow some common sense about who you go to, not these clowns. The person doesn't have a Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN. All paid preparers are required to register with the IRS and get a PTIN, which should be included on your tax return. You are asked to sign a blank or partially filled-out tax return. So it may sound reasonable if your tax preparer says, "This is going to take a lot of time, so just sign your return and I'll fill in the rest of the information later." Don't do it. You aren't asked to provide a W-2 or other proof of your earnings, deductions or credits. And certainly, you shouldn't agree to any false documentation, no matter how desperate you are for a refund. Your preparation fee is based on a percentage of your refund. This can lead to a preparer inflating deductions or credits. A preparer asks you to pay him or her any taxes or penalties owed. So let me start off by writing this i'm reviewing this "tax place" based on the years my dad would go see the preparer Mamerto. He was an older, nice, charasmatic man that would always tell my dad that he'd take care of him. I would sometimes accompany him and he made the whole tax return experience wholesome. They would talk, laugh, even have food and beers from the liquor store next door. My dad got along with Mamerto a lot. Whatever questions he had, Mamerto would answer with such confidence and respect, my dad enjoyed his experience there. He would get a call to let him know his money is ready after sending his return in the mail and of course we would be happy to go back and see it. He even introduced his son Moses and let us know that he was going to take over the business. Everything seemed great, fellow Hispanic men supporting the Hispanic community. That's where we went wrong. We put our complete faith in this man and his tax expertise, we never realized that he was doing us wrong. As I got older and better understood the tax system, I began to realize that Sandigo Multi Services did their tax preparation, but it was little things that seemed off. Mail your return instead, or Mamerto would not sign it, or pick up your check, or that they were never around the rest of the year. One day, we received a notice from the IRS. I had my anxieties, but my dad, it didn't bother him. "Mamerto will take care of it." he told me in Spanish. However, when he called and later went to see him, he was not around. He could not get ahold of him until the people at the liquor store told him that he leaves for the rest of the year. That's when my dad started to panick. The IRS letters kept coming, the penalties increased. We ended up at another tax preparer who had to fix the damage from Sandigo Multi Services. The man bluntly told my dad that he was scammed. That his original return had a much larger return than what Mamerto quoted him, that his return had of exaggerated or untrue numbers, and was told to never trust a tax preparer that is not willing to defend you in an audit. Recently, a friend of mine went to see Moses. Moses, does the same thing his father does. Like father, like son. I have seen the reviews here and the positive reviews look very fake or written with AI. Honestly, save yourself the financial and mental heartache. Learn from our mistake and go to a reputable and credible tax preparer wolves that lay in sheep's clothing.
