I called in advance in march to make an appointment, however non were available. I was given the option to upload my files to their online portal, and Patty would process my return over the phone. I emailed the office to inform them that I had uploaded all my files but I did not received a reply. I called a week later and was told Patty would return my call. I continued to call and leave messages for Patty, however she never called me back. Lastly I called 5 days before 4/18/22 when filing is due, and again I was told some one will return my call. It's is now 4/18/22 and I'm doing my best trying to file through TurboTax.Com. read more

I met John Rodriguez on 3/17. Based on his estimate of what I would owe in taxes, I moved forward and provided final documents on 3/29. From this point on - for over 2 weeks, upon leaving multiple text messages, voice mails and messages with 2 different receptionists - received zero replies. Today, 4/18 - the LAST day to file taxes, John finally calls me: "I didn't forget about you, I had other clients who had been customers of mine for over 15 years wait until the last minute to file their taxes". In other words you put me on the back burner to help them. On the same phone call John also admits his upfront tax estimate was very wrong - Over $10K wrong. To incorrectly estimate a tax liability by $10K is bad. But failing to reply once over a 2 week period and then waiting until the last possible day to provide news of this difference is inexcusable and incredibly unprofessional. read more

This review is long overdue.. I went to The Tax Place back in 2022 because I had some confusing tax paperwork that I needed to file but wasn't sure how to do and didn't trust myself not to mess it up. I got an appointment with Jesse relatively quick (I usually file my taxes as soon as possible) and let me just tell you, he made it a so painless and such a breeze! First off, Jesse is a great guy. He's very polite and friendly and has a great sense of humor. What I appreciated even more than just that, he walked me through my taxes. He made sure that I knew what exactly was being submitted and how that affected my refund/return. I came back to him again in 2023 and now it's 2024 and once again, Jesse was the guy to go to! My husband saw Stephanie back in 2021 as well because he was had some weird taxes that year and she helped him out tremendously. Sadly, he had to pay money back for taxes but that was no fault of Stephanie's. Overall, The Tax Place is great! The whole group is so nice and friendly and they really know what they're doing. For ease of mind, an hour of my time, and $160 to have my taxes filed by someone who knows what they are doing? WORTH IT 100%! read more

Got my taxes done, and had a mimosa. So I just received my tax return and was reminded I needed to share my experience. Besides them being to accommodate my crazy schedule for a Saturday spot, I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went through. They're website gave me all the information I needed to make sure I had everything before I arrived. They're lobby was great and filled with snacks and drinks. Their wait time was about 35 mins, which allowed me to make sure I have everything. But for some might be pushing it. I have yet to experience any tax place where I was attended at my regular schedule appointment. Jesse took care of my case, not only was he super kind of incredibly patient. He really helped me understand the tax code and what I needed to do to make sure I was getting my full refund. That was always a problem in the past, I never really understood why or what but Jesse explained everything and detail and really helped me out. The last thing I'd like to say, was everything was done online - which took an extra few days but was way more convenient. It allowed me to further review and verify all my info was correct. All in all, The Tax Place really helped me filing all my crazy taxes needs and fully understand the way the system works. read more

Long story short this business made me waste 2 days I have spent to wait for an appointment because it wanted me to sign a ridiculous promissory document it did not tell me about at the time of the booking. I made a call on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. No one was available until March 25, 2021. Fine. I made the appointment for March 25 anyway. Upon entry, a staff asks me to sign a form. I examined the form which turns out to be a sort of COVID-19 related liability waiver and promissory document which its content is ridiculous. First of all, I was not aware of any COVID-19 symptoms on me at the time. All tests I had did not detect the virus. Also, I am not some sort of political activist protesting businesses trying to make a living by complying with rules they are compelled to follow. I am not one of those who get all angry because a business posted a sign requiring a mask. I cannot remember the content verbatim so my description of the content in the form will be somewhat paraphrased. So, the form says the person signing will not hold the business liable for getting COVID-19 there. I understand that a regular business is not a virology lab, and risk of infection always exists even after all reasonable cautions are taken. I can be understanding of that. What started to irritate me is that while the business is telling me to release them from liability, at the same time, it was telling me to make a series of promises to them that may get me liable. I don't mind business asking me to wear a mask and politely asking people who does not agree to leave. However, sign a form that makes a promise specifically to the business to follow all governmental regulations? How many people even knows what all the regulations are? Do you have all CDC guidelines, state of California, and Orange County, and City of Fullerton regulations memorized? Unless I know all of that how am I even supposed to make a promise? And, even if I intend to follow all of it, I see no reason why I should make a promosise on a document specifically to a private party for their benefit. Stay 6 ft apart from everyone? Unless you can mind control everyone around you, how do you control that? I have no control over others approaching me. Is everything in the business arranged to even make that possible? Is all of your hallways 12 ft wide or have a trap system to only allow one person to pass at a time installed or something? I can be mindful of others and try to keep some distance, but to be asked for a signed promissory letter is another matter. And, again, why am I taking the liability to make that promise to that specific business for their benefit while they are asking me to release them from liability. And, that was not even all the content on that ridiculous document. Not only is this another ridiculous COVID-19 travesty, the document itself is something an intellectually honest person cannot logically agree to. I arrived there expecting my tax return can be started, and I had to cancel and leave because I could not even start the process without signing something that is logically impossible for me to agree to. So, I wasted two days waiting for the appointment and now looking for aother business with nothing started. read more

My wife and I decided to find a place for our taxes that wasn't an H&R Block and so glad we found this place. Nice little location off Chapman - they have a small waiting room for probably around 10 people. When we went they had snacks available and also drinks including soda, water, coffee, and even mimosas on the weekend!? Who does that! We came by this spot because of the raving reviews on yelp. I messaged the company through yelp and received a quoted price which was the same price I paid after getting my taxes done. The tax process was easy and simple. We ended up doing our taxes with John, he was awesome and very personable. He even went over all the new laws this year and how that would affect us. We even had our 1 year old daughter which was playing in his office and he didn't mind. The price was not bad especially compared to H&R Block. They even sent a copy of everything to our emails and it's also on there cloud Incase we ever needed another copy. He is doing face to face appointments, but you can also drop off documents so he could work on them remotely. I did my taxes for last year (2019) with Vincent on 02/13/2020. First of all, their office is clean and nice and it smells really good. Second of all, the people there are friendly and nice - from their front desk rep to Vincent. They offer coffee, water, tea or soda while waiting. I so love the courtesy of this business. Vincent is friendly, welcoming, funny and most of all, knowledgeable. He took his time not just from doing my taxes but from answering my questions - tax related and life in general. This guy knows his stuff and has a lot of experiences to share and learn from.
