They respected that they were nervous and allowed them to approach on their own terms. Even bring with them a small cloth to leave with the pups to get used to their sent. I received pictures with every visit and even a little text describing how they were doing which definitely eased my mind being away. They were quick to address an allergy issue that one of my dogs was having and even applied medication without any extra charge. It was great to come home to the notes taken from their visits. All-in-all, I will be using their service again.

The good: I was impressed with owner Susan's responsiveness during my initial call. She was friendly, helpful, and walked me through the process. Our meet‑and‑greet was scheduled a couple of weeks out, and the sitter we met was friendly and someone I felt comfortable with. Where things fell short: During our first three‑night trip, I was surprised to see a different person in our home for almost every visit -- four sitters total, only one of whom we had met. This was never communicated to us, and the rotating sitters did not seem familiar with our home or our dogs. Additionally, the time between the evening and morning visits was consistently 12-13 hours, which is longer than we were comfortable with (and documented in their portal notes). Our second and third bookings were short and uneventful, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was not positive. Our dogs were not walked for the first two days because the assigned sitter reported they were "too sick" to walk them. I'm unsure why someone unable to perform basic duties was sent to our home. When I contacted Susan, she did not recognize my name, address, or dogs, despite having personally cared for them on a previous visit. She did step in to take over the remaining visits, which I appreciated. However, on Sunday -- the day before our return -- she called to say there had been an accident in the house and that it was "messy." She preferred to leave it to "solidify" because it would be easier to clean later. I strongly disagreed and directed her to the cleaning supplies. She was argumentative but said she would return to clean it. We arrived home the next day around 2 p.m. to find feces throughout the house, clearly from the prior morning. It was crusted, smelled like a kennel, and had been tracked everywhere by the dogs. This was despite three additional visits after the accident occurred. Since returning home, I have attempted multiple times to reconnect with Susan to discuss what happened. Communication has been minimal, and the responses I have received have been excuses rather than accountability. Bottom line: This is marketed as a premium service, but our experience did not reflect that. Between the lack of communication, rotating sitters, long gaps between visits, and the unacceptable handling of the most recent incident, the service has not been worth the cost, the stress, or the cleanup afterward. I hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.

I had a wonderful experience with leaving my Bernese Mountain Dog, Arlo, at the Double J Pet Ranch…read more I had a terrible experience a few years ago when I had to go out of town and left Arlo at a kennel in TEXAS. I came back to a malnourished, dirty, and very reactive dog. I believe that experience and whatever they did to my dog there caused him to be distrustful of other people besides me, my children and husband. I felt like a horrible owner when I saw how nervous and anxious, he had become when I brought him home from the kennel in Texas. He became protective of my family and needs introduction to new people in a new environment. I was able to call ahead and schedule a time to do a walk-through of the pet ranch. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the kennels and large area of land outside that is available to the dogs. The kennels inside the building were decently sized with enough comfortable space for my 100 lb dog. I think it was Jason who gave me the tour and answered all my questions. I asked about how they would engage with a reactive dog and he was so understanding, reassuring, and informed me of their experience with large and aggressive dogs. He could see that I was obviously concerned about the well-being of my dog and I made him aware of the prior kennel experience. He kindly explained their protocols, handler to pet ratios, and that they would be able provide the care that my dog needed while we were away. I brought Arlo and thought he was going to bark at Jason and the other two guys who were there that day to help. I was amazed when Jason gave Arlo no chance to get nervous. He expertly took the leash and lead him inside with no issue. This was the moment I knew Arlo would be okay. Of course I still worried like always, so I called a few days later to check on him. They missed my call, but called back within the hour and left a detailed message regarding Arlo and stated he was doing good and getting along with everyone; both two-legged and four-legged animals. I picked a happy and wiggly dog! His doubl- coat was just the way it was when I left him there; no matting, no dirt or mud, paws were clean. I am grateful and happy that the Double J Pet Ranch was able to accommodate Arlo while we were out of town. They know how to provide care for dogs of all sizes and shape, treat pet owners with honesty and friendly customer service, they understand that our pets are our family and treat them with kindness and compassion. I will be sharing their information with our neighbors, friends and recommend them to anyone who needs care for their dog(s).

In one occasion, she stopped by to check on Rocky and I do not know until know what is what she found out, that she had to fired Rogers. I messaged her from abroad, and she only told me that she had arrived, and found my dog in a bad condition, and she just said " I think that guy is nuts", I asked her what happened, and she did not want me to worry about; she continue to say... I am sorry, however, I had to ask your dog sitter to leave; Rocky is not doing well, I will be taking care of Rocky now. She took my dog to the vet. We were about to return from our trip. When we finally got home, Rocky was still not feeling well; his rear was very sore, inflamed; he was very stressed out, he looked sad; very different than the way he usually was. I asked my sister what is what she found out when she came by the house to check on my dog, and she just told me, "I do not want you to stress out more, however, I think that guys is nuts, do not hire him again". I never found out what is what she saw, or in what condition she found my dog? The pet sitter was staying over- night at my house; so I have no idea what went on. My dog never recovered, his personality was drastically changed, he looked sad and afraid; he was not longer the happy playful dog. I was devastated and feeling guilty that I hired some one else to take care of him. My sister was the one who usually took care of my dog every time we went out, however, this time I did not want to bother her, and decided to hire a pet sitter. Totally regret it!

I did some research online and stumbled across Matt at Roger's Pet Care. I was very glad I did. Matt took the time to come over and meet Dexter prior to my departure, and within the first few minutes I could tell he really loved animals. He was courteous, took copious notes on Dexter's care, and I felt really comfortable having him watch Dexter while I was away. His pricing is very reasonable, and he even sent me a few photos of my little guy throughout the trip to let me know he was okay. I highly recommend Roger's Pet Care if you don't want the price, hassle, and stress put on your animals by boarding them while you're away.
