Came here on our last day in Florence and we didn't realize how close it was to our hotel! We walk up to the window and the gentleman was super helpful with giving us suggestions of what to order. We both ordered sandwiches with schiacciata bread and it was delicious! We waited across the street and then out names were called to pick up our order. There wasn't any seating available which was fine and we ended u p just eating across the street where we were waiting. I still think about this sandwich and how good it was!

Easily the best panini I had when visiting Italy. It was simple yet executed so well. I loved their fluffy bread and enjoyed their truffle spread I got on my panini. Most people get their paninis to-go since there's very limited seating. They're well wrapped to be eating on the go! For such a small space, it's well decorated. Depending on what season and time you go, be prepared to wait. I went in the middle of the summer (aka tourist season) around 3pm (15:00) and still had to wait an around 30-45 minutes. It was understandable since there were only two people working and not sure if I'd stand in line for this long again. You have to try them at least once!

Wish I could have their sandwiches everyday. This is a gem of a place!! Best sandwich I had all trip. Found myself here after exploring a bit outside of Mercato Centrale. There were only a few people in line and the wait went quickly. Their bread is so perfect. Crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. The menu is all Italian but you can more or less guess what is inside. The employees are nice and can help decide what to order. Limited seating inside so it's mostly for take out.

Mija did a day trip to Florence during her study abroad program, and raved about this sandwich shop. So when we stayed in Florence on the latter part of the trip, we had to hit this place. I had two sandwiches: One salumi & one prosciutto. The first thing I noticed was the bread was very special. I did some research and found that schiacciata bread is made w/o salt. Back in the day, Tuscany did not want to pay the high taxes on salt, so they made their bread w/o salt. Apparently the yeast proofs more effectively, leading to a fluffy interior & chewy exterior. All I know is that combined w/ high quality meat, it makes awesome sandwiches. I was stuffed on €10 of meat only sandwiches, vs here in the States you would have a lot of produce on your $10 sandwich. Regarding the ambiance, its take away only. This is Italian grab and go food. The sandwiches are numbered so you can order quickly, and they are made fast. We found a shady square nearby, and enjoyed our sandwiches while people watching. When you are in Florence, do yourself a favor and stop by Sandwichic. You will really see why Tuscans rave about their schiacciata bread.

One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Staff is so nice and friendly. They offer student meals and discounts. For my first time, the owner had given me recommendations I had to try, and it did not disappoint. This place is usually fairly busy with limited seating-- a little on the smaller side so I would take it to-go. Very solid sandwich that I thoroughly enjoyed. From the conversations I've heard, it's a Florence favorite for sure! I went back for a second time within two days because it was so good.

I think it's a lot about the experience. We wanted to love this place based on all the great reviews, but the bread itself was a little too blah and the bread to Meat/Cheese ratio was way off. They were good paninis sandwiches, but not the best l've had in the city. Perhaps we just chose the wrong combo, but there are much better sandwiches in Florence that you don't have to wait 30-50 minutes for. The staff there are very cool and helpful in explaining things and helping you make a selection. Have a beer while you wait, it will help with the experience. Everyone has a different taste in sandwiches and this one didn't do it for us.

Really amazing, and we both feel like this needs to be a staple of our trips now. This trip, we got the mortadella/taleggio/tartufo cream/sun dried tomatoes, as well as the sbriciolona/pecorino/pepperoni cream/sun dried tomatoes. Both were incredible, and I'd have a hard time picking one over the other, but my wife would absolutely have picked the sbriciolona and actually wanted to get it again, but we had all of our other meals booked already. I'd also love to try even more of the menu next time around.

This place in my opinion is not worth the hype. The sandwiches were tasty, but it wasn't worth the long lines and slow service. It was a cute place, but I think there are potentially better sandwich places in Florence.

I had the best sandwich I've ever had in my life here. This cute little hole in the wall would make a fortune in the states! I enjoyed every bite and would be willing to go back every day just to try something new. The schiacciata bread is seriously the best bread I've ever put in my mouth and they serve it warm and fresh, so it is crisp on the top and soft inside. I really, really, really wish I knew "pomodoro" meant "tomatoes" so I could order something with their sun dried tomatoes, but I did not know that beforehand. My husband (who doesn't even like tomatoes or sun dried tomatoes back home in the states) even liked the sun dried tomatoes! The meats are amazing! Every single one. You cannot go wrong with choosing whatever! My sandwich had prosciutto crisp with mozzarella and some kind of white spread! Yum! It was a small space and there was a line out the door to get in, so try to get there early! There isn't a lot of space for dining, but there are a few chairs on the street in front, if you want to grab those. The guy at the register was very nice and pretty fluent in English. This is definitely a nice spot for the college kids!

I came in and asked for the most popular sandwich. The sandwich also had sun dried tomatoes and a jam spread. So many wonderful flavors in every bite. The way they put the sandwich together changed my life.

Absolute must try while in Florence! We were desperate for a panino after going to the market. If you aren't looking closely for Sandwichic, you may walk right past it. In a city that has panino shops all over, Sandwichic stands alone. Many other shops you will stand in line forever just to be treated poorly once you're inside and rushed out. There is a level of care that goes into making your sandwich as well as making sure that you choose the correct sandwich. Flavors and textures were spot on and 100% authentic. Bread was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and I got mine slathered with onion jam! Don't leave Florence without going to Sandwichic.

Locally-made soda. Hard to describe the taste.
    John S.

Great sandwiches for cheap. Huge variety of toppings, although I've always gotten the same ones. Student deals (€6 or 7 euro for a sandwich, water, and soda, depending on the type of soda) are among the best in the city. Very quickly becoming my everyday lunch place.

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.

It would be the third sandwich spot on our trip, and we had been to a couple of bangers beforehand that set the bar. I was a bit worried that we were getting lured into a tourist trap because of the restaurant being by the duomo, but it was located behind it where there was much less foot traffic compared to the front facing Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We arrived around noon on a Sunday. My husband and I arrived early enough to beat the lunch crowd, so we had no wait at all. By the time we finished our sandwiches, we saw the queue out the door. There were a couple of high tables inside the restaurant, but there was more seating outdoor. I really liked how you can customize your sandwich the way you wanted down to the bread, meats, cheeses, and toppings. They didn't only have schiaccata bread, which I thought was cool. You had other options of breads like ciabatta. Panini Toscani allows you to sample their various meats, such as porchetta, proscuitto, mortadella, etc. As someone who doesn't eat pork, one of the employees had me sample their various cheeses instead. Since I've been eating schiaccati the past 2 days, I stuck to the same bread as a baseline and added soft cheese, arugula, spicy marinara, eggplant, and sundried tomatoes. I enjoyed my sandwich very much, and the crunch on the bread was everything.

The exterior is small and charming, with a line spilling out the door, while the interior is cozy and bustling with limited seating. The vibe is lively, welcoming, and very interactive, with opportunities to taste their various meats and cheeses. There's Italian and English menus to peruse before you create your customizable sandwich; the amount of options is almost overwhelming, though sampling can help alleviate this "problem." We arrived at around noon on a Wednesday, and waited around fifteen minutes; the line moves fast, despite being out the door! You select from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and four additional toppings; they will then lightly toast your sandwich, and you pay at the front counter. I opted for their Ciabatta Toscana with Porchetta (roast pork), Stracciatella (a shredded creamy cheese similar to burrata), rucola (arugula), pepperoni sotto aceto (peppers in vinegar), pepperoni grigliati (grilled peppers), and melanzane (eggplant). My panini was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors; the bread had a crisp exterior and a pillowy-soft interior, the roast pork was succulent and well-seasoned with an herby crust, the straciatella added a creamy richness, and the various vegetables packed an acidic punch. The sandwich was also quite a generous portion, leaving me full for hours. In terms of price point, I believe I ended up paying around €12, which was quite affordable, especially given the central location, interactive experience, and generous portions: excellent value for a high-quality quick meal.
