We love the daily reports! The security protocols provide an effective defense-in-depth strategy that I think adds significant peace of mind. The children are safe, secure and well taught. Discipline is effective and consistent with a focus on positive reinforcement and good decision making. Accidents/incidents are communicated rapidly and the staff are very attentive to the health and well being of our children. The facility is clean and sanitized with the attention of detail that has resulted in the best environment for our children. The food options are excellent and provide a balanced meal to keep our little ones fed and nourished. Issues or concerns that were communicated by myself to the staff were respectfully discussed and addressed in a timely manner. The events and activities that are sponsored by the academy are great team building opportunities for the parents and staff. It was going to be his first time in a structured school setting so I really appreciated the smaller class size and student to teacher ratio because I felt like he was able to receive a more individualized curriculum and he was met at his academic level. When my son first started, he had very basic knowledge of his letters and sounds, but now we are almost to the end of our first year and he is reading simple sentences. What we love about this school is that they offer a 5 day/week program with an aftercare "lunch bunch" option. (They also have a 2, 3, or 4 day per/week option). So, my son has school from 9:30 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Monday-Friday. I don't think that any other co-op in Rockville has this much schooling for the 3's age group. Another great thing about this preschool is that they have the option to BUY OUT of the co-oping duties! This year is especially busy for my family because we also have an 8 month old baby and we are very limited on time. (I love this school's flexibility!!) RCNS' location is beautiful. It is surrounded by wonderful green space and a fun playground! My son enjoys playing there with his friends when his aftercare is finished. (During this time, I enjoy socializing with the other parents!) In all, I would highly recommend this preschool for parents looking for a co-op with a more flexible schooling option! My son had some bad experiences at another daycare and it made him really scared to go to any daycare. On the first day he tried it out he didn't want to leave and it's been that way ever since. I have been with this daycare for 3 years and I'm very satisfied with my experience. The staff is wonderful, welcoming, understanding and very helpful. The director Danielle is amazing!! She's understanding and anything you have an issue with or anything you need you can talk to her. My son has many favorite teachers but Mrs. Adriana is the BEST! Shes an amazing teacher and care taker. This daycare also works with an app that allows the teachers to tell me how his day is going with pictures and I can see the schedule for the day. When my son was younger and still potty training I got updates when he used the potty as well! I also loved the safety they had. Every room has a camera so the director can see what's going on in each classroom. Both the door to enter the building and the door to go to the hallway to get to the kids have a code on it, double security so not anyone can just get in. You get a lovely tour of the place and on the holidays they do special crafts and parties. They do before school and after school care and pick up kids at school too. They also do class pictures and "school" portraits so you can purchase lovely photos of your child. Again I can not recommend this place enough! If your thinking about it , take the tour because you get all the information you need and you won't regret it.

Last summer, he attended Dragonfly Summers at Academy's location at Dufief E.S. He loved it and the staff so much! He begged to stay with me again this summer, so he could go back. This summer he is attending Academy's Trips and Dips program! He has only been attending for one week so far, and they have been to multiple waterparks, bowling and to the National Building Museum! It is so wonderful how the Academy staff balance education and fun for the children. He is learning different things and having a blast while doing it! As a bonus, he is worn out by the time he gets home! It is comforting to know while I am at work, he is in the safe,capable hands of the mature and professional staff.
