DISCRIMINATORY/ILLEGAL/RACIST BUSINESS PRACTICES AT SANDY'S BARBERSHOP: This barbershop openly refuses to cut African American men's hair. Typically when barbershops engage in this kind of discriminatory behavior they try to do it covertly. Here at Sandy's---they are open about their refusal. I came into the barbershop to get a standard men's shave. I am quite literally bald headed, so I made it clear up front that the only service I would need is a standard shave of my beard. I was told, "We do not cut coarse hair." Never mind the fact that the hair on my beard is no "coarse" than any other human being's hair, simply being a black person rendered me illegible from receiving a haircut. The incident occurred with the shop's owner. After I highlighted the fact that discriminating against certain male customers for standard, public services (like a shave) was unacceptable--the store's owner/manager decided to lecture me about how this was not "about race." The gaslighting was disgusting, and the establishment is a complete dump. On my way out, the pitiful owner had the nerve to ask me "not to come back." The only reason I would be returning back---is to bring my lawyer. Moral of the story: if you are reading this and you are a client of color, you should take your money elsewhere. This shop has a racial discrimination lawsuit on its way. read more

I have been using Sandy's barbers for years. My grandson needed his first haircut and Stacy did the job. Thru the wiggling, flying hands and crying she did a magnificent job getting it done to perfection. Saving a lock of the curly hair and a first haircut certificate we could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you!!! read more

I almost always get the same haircut whenever I head to the barber, but I decided to head here and try something new. As soon as I entered I immediately was given a seat and the barber really helped me to figure out what I wanted. It was a great cut I got for a great price from great people. read more

My boyfriend got his haircut here and unfortunately wasn't too thrilled with the end product once we got home. Needless to say he probably should have been more specific in what he wanted, but there are just certain parts that were not cut correctly vagueness or not. I also feel that if there was any vagueness then the stylist should have clarified beforehand. I really do hate giving establishments low ratings but the more we look at his hair the more we see that doesn't look good. read more

Do not go to Sandy's if you care about what you look like or if you want any say in the haircut that she gives you. Terrible haircut and inattentive bimbo. Asked for a cut where she merely cleaned up the back and pulled up the sideburns; unfortunately, I didn't realize that she has no regard for anyone besides herself and wasn't listening the 7 or 8 times I repeatedly told her not to cut it short. First thing she does is snip 4 inches off of the top and immediately condemn me to a haircut that I did not want in any way. I advise anyone who does not simply want a buzz-cut to never enter Sandy's Barber Shop in your life, for it smells like urine and the workers emulate Stevie Wonder. read more

I've only been here twice. The first time, Sandy cut my hair from (men's) long to pretty short, and it was great! The second time, I wanted a tiny tiny trim of my medium-length hair. With a different person (not Sandy), I articulated that I wanted maybe 1/4 inch off, a slight trim but was otherwise happy with my hair exactly as is. She cut off almost all of it, definitely at least an inch (which was only two or so inches to start), and left none of the same style it had had. Additionally, while shaving my neck, I felt the clippers hurting me repeatedly -- it wasn't until later that night that a friend acknowledged I had cuts all over my neck. The first time I went was great, but it is highly unlikely I'm going to go back after this second experience and complete waste of money for something I did not want and also physically hurt me. read more

I have been taking my three year old here since he had his first haircut. Sandy and Stacy are both fantastic at what they do. They are fast and patient with a very twitchy and wiggly kid and give a great haircut! They have a few kids books and toys to keep him entertained and a nice selection of lollipops. My husband has since started going to sandy for his cuts. He said it's always a pleasure to sit and chat with her. read more

I had my hair cut here a few months ago and was very satisfied. After walking around on a busy day downtown, I walked in to Sandy's shop after seeing an advertisement for haircuts starting at $14. When I entered, there was no one waiting so she took me right away. After telling her that I needed a few inches off, she proceeded to give me one of the best and most efficient haircuts I have ever gotten. It took 5-10 minutes tops. When complimented, she informed me that she has been in the business for many years. Sandy's is my new barbershop! read more
