Plunger, hand snake, and a garage full of water later, I'm in panic mode and tired. It's now close to 2:00pm on a Friday and I'm worried about who I can get out here on short notice... and how much this is going to cost me. I searched for a few plumbers based on reviews and proximity, and Dave from Drain Kings was one of them. Dave's very nice wife answered the phone and she informed me he was currently at a job, but would call him. He was at my place within an hour and a half. He came out anticipating a snake job but after diagnosing he found a substantial clog in my pipes and got elbows deep into a big mess and cleared it all out. He saved me $100 dollars on the call. He easily could have snaked the lines and charged me much more, but he was upfront and honest. He gave me some tips on how to prevent future clogs, and guaranteed his work for ninety days. Meaning if a snake is needed in the future the price will be offset by the charges from the work already performed. He was fun to speak with throughout the process too. I would definitely use Drain King again. I witnessed firsthand that the guy knows his shit. And I mean that literally.

Our furnace started blowing tepid air on a weekend day. When we called our propane company to…read morerequest service, they sent out a tech from Comfort Air Services. The tech told us that the heat exchanger was covered in soot and could no longer deliver hot air. We were told that our old furnace needed to be replaced. This was not a surprise since the unit was 20 years old. Patrick reached out to us with a quote to replace the furnace including a new whole house humidifier at our request. We also asked him to replace our 20 year old A/C unit with a new heat pump which he did. The furnace was replaced the next day along with a new programmable thermostat. The heat pump took another week or so to complete due to wait time on some parts that had been ordered. The very next day after installation we noticed that the time on the new thermostat had jumped five hours ahead which threw our heating schedule off. Three members of our family reprogrammed the thermostat to the correct time after it had repeatedly jumped five hours after each reprogramming. Clearly we had a defective unit since the clock continued to jump ahead on its own by five hours. We relayed this information to Patrick who was not convinced that we had a defective thermostat, so he came out to reprogram it again himself. The T-stat clock jumped ahead five hours on its own after Patrick had left. We called him with this news and he finally ordered a new thermostat and replaced it about two weeks after the initial installation. All this frustration could have been avoided if he had believed us initially and ordered a new thermostat sooner.

About 9 months later in late December, I woke up early in the morning to a cold house. Seems one of the wires on the igniter in the unit was faulty/loose (manufacturer issue, no installer). I called Patrick, and it went straight to v-mail. After leaving a message, I started to wonder if I shouldn't have gone with a larger company with more comprehensive customer support. Well, within 60 seconds of leaving the message I got a call back, and within 20 minutes, a very friendly mechanic was in my basement. He fixed the ignition error problem at no cost, and even took a quick peak at my gas fireplace that had been having some issues. Speaking as both a customer, and also a contractor - 10/10 experience.

These guys are the best plumbers I've ever had at any home. It is easy to contact them by phone…read more They promptly get back to me. Their fees are very fair -- a fixed hourly rate for the two guys that show up, plus parts. They do a good job. And, they are easy to get along with. I have had them service my radon removal system, fix random leaks, fix shower faucet, fix something that was going wrong with the pumping from the well, and rip out and replace all the pipes under the kitchen sink. When the well was malfunctioning, I was scared they'd have to replace the submersible well pump and charge a huge fee. They arrived prepared to do that, towing behind them a trailer with big spindle to wrap the pipe to the pump around. But, they had a look inside first and found two other things wrong that they promptly fixed, far cheaper than replacing the pump too. I was thrilled. They also make good recommendations for future work I may want to have done. And, they kindly leave some spare water filters behind at cost so I can replace those filters myself every 6 months.

He said he needed a $6500.00 check to pick up the furnace. I gave him that $6500.00 and never saw him again until the day in court several weeks later. I had to hire a new plumber and it cost me an extra $8000.00 to finish the job. He lost the case in court and the court awarded me $ 8500.00 but have yet to see a dollar. He was arrested and we now have a new court date for him to make payments. Run from this contractor!
