My wife and I vacationed here 5/25. Check in was quick and front office staff were extremely friendly. The remodeling was wonderful, beautiful. Our room was great, clean and just right. We stayed in a one bedroom king with bathroom, kitchenette in the den. Room was wonderful, room service was great. Any time we needed something they brought it immediately. We ate at the tiki bar several days for lunch. The food was great and the waitresses were amazing. The guys that get your beach chairs out and umbrella's were friendly and eager to help. We ate supper and breakfast at the other restaurant on the property Dante Italian restaurant. Service was great and food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. The only two things that happened negatively was on Saturday of our stay this big family came and took over the pool area. They were loud , rude and messy. Eating and drinking in the pool, standing where you walk down into the pool and would not move to let anyone into the pool. None of us regular guest believed they were even staying there. We think they just came up and took over. After that day we never seen them again.there is no one there as far as security to watch something like this. Next thing that happened was the last day of our stay. The pool got shut down. They had problems with the pool. Other than those two things the stay was great and the location was great. We would absolutely stay here again.

I'll miss these gorgeous sunrises each morning

I wanted to put together a vacation that had both a blend of familiarity and new destinations. My first hotel was the Sanibel Inn. My wife, brother in law and sister in law have never truly explored the west coast. Me? 5th grade I lived in Ft Myers while my parents opened an Italian restaurant. It didn't last and we moved back to Brooklyn. My memories of Sanibel Island and being in the water all day are my best memories. Let me share them with my family. I booked two rooms on the beach. The kitchen didn't really matter to us, just point us to the beach. And that's where the hotel shines. Its situated on one of the best beaches in the United States. Every morning we'd walk to see the sun rise. Have breakfast and then swim-lay on the beach for the entire day. Magnificent. Walking back from the beach, the pool bar was calling! I told the bartender to make (4) Pina Coladas and float dark rum on top. After two of those, I was feeling mite-T fine. One thing I noticed, there are BBQ pits set up for the hotel guests?? I mean, I'm on vacation but if a family wants to cook and shop? Power to the people's. The actual room itself is where I was a little disappointed. There were two beds, I don't think the beds were queen size. The shower has a wooden window sill inside the shower where I bonked my head. Overall, the hotel is situated on a beautiful beach. It truly made our hotel stay memorable. I would come back again given the opportunity.

Basic necessities... What? One night at this hotel. First floor facing the waters please. I am glad it wasn't more days... I'd die. The complementary WiFi does not work...at all! Don't think about remote working here. Also, somehow service from my phone provider doesn't work either... but it works great when I am outside the unit.... The amenities are good. They have paddle board, kayaks and bikes included in the stay, not sure if all are different. There are beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach on a first come first serve basis. There is a public shower available by the check in building. that's the good as well. Environment A very small place with a couple of buildings. Plenty of parking available. View out of the room was very nice. Niceness of the staff Staff was very nice. Explained all the check in process. We were able to use the amenities prior the check in and also after checking out. No issues checking in. Dollar Decent.. It served its purpose Yes... If I find something similar I'd try somewhere else first... WiFi is really nessesary (COVID-19 as of May 1, 2021: Masks are required at check in station. They provide masks at the door. Staff are also wearing masks.)

I get home and washed everything but guess what I STILL BROUGHT HOME BED BUGS...

-BED BUGS!!! -WIFI DOESN'T WORK -NOT CLEAN -NON EXISTENT MANAGEMENT Our original room was supposed to be a gulf view. We payed extra for a room with a beach view..we were put into a room with no View was dirty and had a shower that over flowed because the drain was clogged. After confirming that we originally payed for and reserved a beach view with a king bed and didn't get it, as well as asking for a different room the person at the front desk shared with me that he knew the shower had issues. Also, Found out the hotel wasn't even at 50% capacity but the person at the front desk insisted to keep us in the same building with no beach view and a queen bed. After paying $20 extra for an 'upgraded' room we got eaten up by BED BUGS! when my mother went to complain about the bed bugs the girl at the front desk insisted it was sand fleas..girl there's a difference. Listen to your guests!!!! We brought home the fucking BED BUGS and are spending a shit ton of money to get them out of our house. NOT OKAY!!!!! I get home and washed everything but guess what I STILL BROUGHT HOME BED BUGS...BTW the stupid bug spray they sell you at the front desk doesn't work..funny how it says good for mosquitoes, sand fleas and BED BUGS...should have been a red flag on day one

Unexpected "Resort Fees" charged at checkin, even with a supposedly 100% prepaid stay. Advertised as free wifi, but their signal is so weak and throughput so low it is virtually useless.

Here's the trash related to the review, plastic bottles

Nice location. But a very tired property. The A/C could not cool the room nor more importantly, remove the humidity. Once wet, anything will remain damp at best. Fresh bed linens will feel cool and damp. As do the towels in the ventless bathroom. There's just no way to move the air. Very accommodating staff and a fun crew at the Tiki bar. Same can be said for Dantes, the restaurant. We won't return, our in-room comfort just wasn't there. Also, I need to note the exterior garbage/litter all hung up and around the palm trees. Appalling that room cleaners wouldn't note the unsightly plastic mess to the grounds folks to clean it up. Apathy is a customer killer. I'll post pictures of it if I can.

1937 book at the Inn's library

Perfect, beachey Inn with a vintage feel and modern amenities right on the Gulf. Each room is angled so there is a view of the water. you can sleep to the sound of the waves and leave the doors open to the sea air. A very spare terrace on the second floor is open to all guests. It's a fine place to see the stars on this island where natural light is supreme. (No streetlights!) Reservations include a Continental breakfast buffet of fresh fruit, grapefruit and orange juices, various pastries, small croissants, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, and coffee. It's served in the Traditions dining room that is sunny in the morning, and which becomes a dinner w/music haunt in the evening. You can paddle boards, or rent bikes that have pink and blue frames and fat tires ($10/hr). Beach lounge chairs with plastic staps are free for guests' use. You're asked to return them to the hotel grounds from the sand, especially during turtle season. The 500' of beachfront is billed as some of the best shelling on the island. The front desk provides you with shell bags and a shell ID page from the local museum. I discovered a 1937 book in the reading room that was a bequest to the Inn in 1954. It was a description of shells, complete with pages typed by an old Remington, and hand-drawn illustrations.

Much-Much nicer than expected, as their website's pictures do not do the grounds justice. The bar on-site, located directly adjacent to the pool, has a few local beers on tap and makes great blended drinks. It's a perfect spot for a pre-dinner drink, and/or lunch break. They also offer bikes and long board rentals, free of charge. There were a few grills on the patio, as well as a classy fire pit. The rooms were slightly dated, but nothing egregious, plus why waste time in your room?

Parking is abundant, that includes covered and uncovered parking areas. The pool area is very nice as well with a screened in bar area for drinks, and a hot tub off to the side as well. They also have gas grills available for people that would like to eat in, they aren't the best grills ever but easily get the job done. The resort has 3 "paths" to walk down to the beach which is about a mile and half from the light house. Also the resort office has umbrellas available to rent, a small reading library, and movies available as well. Some things I'm not overly crazy about but they don't really ruin the experience is that the hot tub is way too hot to enjoy if you are there during the summer months. I could see in the winter time it being refreshing but during the summer months they should turn the temperature down on the water. While the resort does have free wifi, the coverage is not very good. Most of the walking paths are gravel so if you are going barefoot you had better toughen up them feet. Overall staying here is a very enjoyable experience and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay while on the island.

Check-in is at 4pm and checkout is at 11am, but guests are welcome to use the amenities on the same day as check-in and check-out. When we checked in, we were greeted, given a map of the property along with directions on how to get to our condo unit, and handed the resort wristbands (to be worn at all times to enjoy the amenities), keycards, a "charge card" to easily bill things to the room, and a parking permit. Staff was friendly. There's plenty of things to do on the resort that are included with your stay - pickleball, tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, pool, hot tub, bike rentals, fitness center. Beach towels, chairs, and beach umbrellas are provided. There's also some poolside games like ping pong, foosball, a big connect four, volleyball, and cornhole. There's a Recreation Desk to handle equipment check in/check out and sign waivers. Spa and onsite dining are additional. We had a garden view, two bedroom/two bathroom residence. We were pleasantly surprised to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The kitchen was stocked with basic dishes, silverware, some pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There was a coffee pot, ironing board, safe in the master bedroom, and hair dryer in each bathroom. There was a big tv in the main area and in each bedroom. The main rooms also had ceiling fans. The A/C unit worked well (and we put it to work in this Florida heat). We also took advantage of the screened in patio area. (I'm glad it was screened... those no-see-um bugs are no joke! I'm still itching...) Each condo also included a complimentary shelling bag from Sundial Beach Resort, which you will need at the beach because the shelling here (in the Seashell Capital of the World) is awesome! They even have a seashell washing station near the main pool because shelling is a big deal here. We loved the quick access to the beach, and we were even able to spot the sunrise to the left of the shore each morning. Housekeeping was very thorough! They came everyday and I was just expecting them to change towels, take out the trash, and maybe refill bathroom toiletries, but they swept (much appreciated when sand gets everywhere) and tidied up the kitchen too. They also changed the sheets on the third day. The room has a QR code to scan to leave a tip via phone, but make sure you get their name to tip the individual directly (otherwise, don't forget to bring cash to tip the hardworking staff). My only notes would be that the shower water pressure was pretty weak in our unit and the only clock was on the microwave. Yes, clocks are pretty prevalent on phones and smartwatches these days, and sure, we're on "vacation time," but some of us are old-school. Speaking of the prevalence of phones, I'm a fan of their texting notifications. The property texted reminders leading up to the stay and sent over a schedule of events for each day. I wouldn't necessarily say that the events are anything to plan your day around, but it's a nice option if you're looking for something to do on the property. They had open pickleball play in the morning, a water balloon toss one day, and daily poolside bingo (with prizes - ice cream coupons or a drink at the tiki bar for the bingo winners). Poolside bingo was very popular. You can also use the text line to contact them with questions or special requests. I did use the text line and they were super helpful and responsive (responding within minutes). It wasn't quite concierge services - I asked a specific question about whether paddle boarding was open, and instead they provided a generic response to visit the recreation desk (I was hoping they would ask the recreation staff for me and relay the info). A note about the water sports, sometimes these activities are not available due to outside conditions. Even on a nice sunny day, the winds might be too strong and they'll put the boards away. Conditions can change throughout the day. They had a dry erase board displaying whether that activity was available. We were able to do paddle boarding one morning, and the rec staff helped bring out the boards and equipment, but then we were left to our own devices to drag the board into the water - there was no real briefing or beginner's tutorial. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing stay at Sundial Beach Resort. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our time in Sanibel. Special shoutout to Alba who helped us get squared away with our reservation. She is the sweetest and really got us excited to visit.

We had a very good stay here…read more Our only minor glitches were during the reservation experience prior to coming and at checkout. After getting conflicting prices and confusion regarding one of the packages on the hotel website, I wrote to the general manager. I was subsequently helped by Alba in the reservation center who reached out to me. Frankly, she saved the day. Our check-in with Christie at the front desk was lovely and seamless. Our room was ready so we were able to check in a tad early. Christie gave us our key cards, vouchers, wristbands and car placard and explained all the things we needed to know about our stay. Her pleasing personality made us feel welcome. Our room was in the D section on the 4th floor. The one-bedroom with balcony had a partial gulf view, king size bed, living room/dining room, and full kitchen. The bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. We purchased a package including breakfast. Each morning we headed to the Captains Catch in the main building. The buffet was very good. There was plenty options from which to choose. The omelet/ eggs to order station was a nice addition. The first night, we ate dinner in the Japanese restaurant at the hotel. You need reservations for the hibachi section, but not for their sushi bar/table area. It was very good. (See separate review). We also visited the pool and the hot tub one day. And enjoyed walking along the beach. As we are from Florida, we didn't sit out sunning nor use the rec facilities except one day we stopped by to get towels. We did play a couple games of bingo by the pool, but that's it, and we did have a drink at the tiki bar. Drinks were just okay. Checkout was not the easiest as mentioned above -- after I realized I'd been charged an incorrect amount. Jamie did not handle the situation well. Luckily, I'd saved Alba's contact info so I called her from the checkout/front desk. She verified the correct charges. And an adjustment/credit was made to my credit card billing. Bottom line, this would have been a five star review. And the facility itself deserves that. But after a lovey relaxing mini vacation for my husband's birthday, my treat, I once again had to deal with a glitch that I thought was already resolved. And that's now my last impression.

We, as Hilton Grand Vacation (HGV) members, can travel freely and stay at numerous properties around the country and the world. Hurricane House works with HGV to allow HGV members to use some of its "condos" when the actual owners choose not to use them. That is how we ended up at Hurricane House during the first few days of September 2021. There are 15 units at Hurricane House and we were given one of the two story units (#6). We were aware that this is an older property but Hilton is pretty good about only offering its members quality accommodations. OK....the good first: Check in was a breeze and the exterior of the property was well maintained. Parking was plentiful and close. Each unit has one spot reserved in the first floor covered garage. First impression upon entering was very good. The first floor was a hallway, great room and kitchen. Furniture was comfortable and "beach themed" and very adequate. First floor flooring is all tile. The kitchen is a bit cramped (two people at a time) but well stocked with all you would need to prepare meals. Appliances are modern and very clean. Upstairs has two very large bedrooms with King beds. The "master" is larger with a totally adequate bathroom and lots of closet space. The smaller king bedroom has an extra sleeping space near the window. Upstairs carpeting is quality "waffle" material that is nice looking and easy on the feet. Both bathrooms have skylights that are a nice touch. Everything upstairs was easy on the eyes, clean and nicely decorated. A stacked compact washer and dryer is upstairs in a closet and works quite well. The pool area was small but nicely kept. Pool water was clean but not crystal clean. There were lots of chairs, tables, lounges and two jacuzzies but we didn't use them. The wood walkway to the beach is well maintained and has a shower, sink with running water (not sure what for) and a knee-level water sprayer to de-sand your feet upon returning. The property has a number of "sand chairs" you can take out to the beach and return when you are done. We didn't use the gas grills but there were, I think, three of them that were clean and ready for use. The beach behind the property is not very wide but the sand is clean. No seaweed events while we were there. Bring flip-flops as the sand can get very hot and the beach has many areas with sharp, crunchy areas of shells of all sizes. Now the bad: Both king mattresses were (for us) way too soft; and for me, at least, it affected my sleep. I cannot remember staying in a hotel or vacation property with mattresses this soft. The A/C thermostat is at the bottom of the stairs and cools the downstairs fine. Upstairs was warm. We cranked it down to 70 to try to cool the upstairs at night but it was still too warm for me. As the outside air temperature cooled, by early morning the bedrooms were comfortable. The refrigerator had no ice maker or even ice trays. An obvious inconvenience. For the guys, the most serious problem was the TV. We had planned to watch a number of NCAA football games. Both bedrooms have TVs but we did not use them. All TVs have DVD players (but not Blu-Ray). The living room has an LG flat screen TV of about 40 inches. The TV was older but fine; the cable service is just awful. There was no High Definition (720 or 1080p) service at all. And many people do not realize that Standard Definition (480p) TV looks worse on an HDTV than on an old CRT TV. There were no instructions on what the channel lineup was or how to find it (we eventually did). The TV and the Infinity cable box remotes were odd, old and difficult to figure out. All in all a very old school, unsatisfying experience. The last time I had this problem was in 2007 in Hawaii. Never thought I'd see it again. If you do not plan on watching TV, disregard this part. Overall I'd give our five day experience a C+ rating. Fix the TV, Ice and A/C issues and it would be close to an A.

The owners and employees are so friendly and always there (in person or by text) to answer questions or help. This place has everything you need: beach equipment, wagon, bikes, designated parking spot, even hydrocortisone cream. We had a car, but this place is perfect for those with no car. It's only a 5 minute walk to the closest beach, 12 min walk to the lighthouse beach (and a lot of beach parking on the island is not free). It's surrounded by good food- our favorite restaurant on the island (wickies) is just across the street, along with great ice cream. Just to the right is the deli where we got yummy bagels and coffee many times. I also prefer staying on this side of the island as it's much more cozy, small-town feel, and walkable than the other side and down by the beach resorts (we drove out to see). Our flight got cancelled on our last day and Joe was so accommodating with their equipment and outdoor space. My one very minor and personal opinion suggestion would be that the fluorescent bulbs made the room feel a bit blue and stark at night, if the bulbs had a yellow tint it would feel even more cozy. We can't wait to bring our kids when they're a little older and stay here again!

Such a cute promising little place! The owners are so nice and have beach chairs and an umbrella…read moreand even a cart. The room was spacious and clean. They had great check in info. Unfortunately I did not sleep a wink here, I am a super light sleeper and unfortunately the room next to ours had a couple of baritone guys that woke up at 4:30 in the morning ughhh...the beds were not the most comfy unfortunately either adding to a bit of my suffering as well. Giving it 4 stars. I unfortunately should have gotten some earplugs after the first night. I felt like they were talking to me since their convo was so close to our headboard. Owners seemed to go above and beyond so probably unfortunately just the loud guests we were next to combined with my light sleeping tendencies!!!
