Sanije did a wonderful job taking in my bridesmaid dress. She is very friendly. Alterations are quick, fairly priced and quality.

I took 2 suit jackets here for tailoring. $90 for hemming the sleeves of 2 suits. Not a bad price,…read morenot budget either. Very middle of the road. The work was fine, and came out exactly as promised. I wouldn't say they were the most helpful in finding me the perfect fit, but when I explicitly said what I wanted done they did it. They also finished pretty quickly, under 1 week, and were kind and respectful. I'll definitely be back for things like hemming my pants and sleeves.

Just had a unique and horrible experience at Nader's. I went in to the shop a week ago with a pair…read moreof pants to were intentional purchased to be altered. I worked with an older man that is not the lady that I've usually consulted with. He was immediately combative. He pinned the pants where he wanted and refused to change it. I expressed where I wanted it and I wanted a taper leg ( the pants were straight) . He said he understood what I wanted and I paid. Upon picking up the paints and seeing they didn't look right I asked to try them on and it looked like he took an inch or 2 off the hem and sewed it up. The pants are curved and have no appearance of being taper. You couldn't see a leg in the pants if there were 2 pairs. When telling him what I wanted he said "I must not be right in the head and he couldn't do anything more' . The only additional response I could receive is " people paper clip there pants to make them look like that". What?!? Complete waste of 30 bucks and 5days. Now I have a business trip in 2 days with botched pants. Be cognizant of who you consult with. I will never be returning.

Let me clear up some of these reviews, if you don't have the money you should learn how to sew…read moreyourself. If you wait over two weeks to pick up your items maybe you should buy a storage unit not leave it to be stored at a Alterations shop. Oh and for the lady who is upset because you constantly barge in when someone is going out to eat because you keep putting a tighter girdle on, there is no reason for those lies. K? Cookie was nice to each of you when you could not make up your minds What YOU actually wanted done. You don't want to pay full price for services rendered so instead you want to resort to Social Media threats & insults. Oh and college student, for three weeks you couldn't decide so it had to be decided for you. The work Cookie did for you was undone due to you not wanting to pay. So you received your item back without services rendered. Your choice. It's sad when people think they are privileged & everyone should bow down to them & their threats. But knowing all the great paying & mature customers that frequent this shop keep this wonderful business going. Thank you Cookie for doing a great job on my clothes. I am sorry you have to deal with such nonsense from people who need to learn how to be an adult. Again I will say.... If you cannot pay for a service then you need to learn how to sew.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I typically don't write negative reviews because I understand…read morethat my experience may not reflect the true nature of the establishment. But, my experience with Cookie, the owner of Southern Alterations, was so unprofessional and costly, I felt compelled to warn anyone else who may be considering working with her. I am still in shock at the way she handled me as a customer, and I am left with unfinished garments that I have to get altered elsewhere. I went in with a pair of jeans and a leather jacket. I wanted to have the jacket fixed (ripped in the back) and the jeans hemmed and taken up in the crotch. Cookie was welcoming and chatty. She offered to save me some money (broke college student here) by having me take out the seams on both garments to save her time so that she would not have to do it. I asked if I should try on the pants first so that I could show her what I wanted, and she urged me to go home and take the seems out first, then come back for the fitting. I did just that - I went home and spent a decent amount of time taking the seams out of both garments. I felt appreciative that she was trying to save me money. I brought them back to her, seams undone. She had me try on the jeans so she could pin me. After trying on the jeans, she tells me that she won't be able to take up the crotch because of the way the jeans were made, but she would still be able to hem them. This fitting took about 10 minutes. She gave me a quote, which included prices for fixing the jacket, hemming the pants, and sewing up the seams that I - per her request - had taken out on the jeans. I was surprised that I had to pay for her to sew up the seams on the jeans because SHE asked me to undo them prematurely, but I agreed because I understood that it would still take time for her to sew them back up. Cookie assured me that my items would be ready for pick up in one week. Shortly after I left, I called cookie to ask if she would just sew up the jeans and hold of on hemming them as I could not afford to do both at the moment. She agreed, saying she understood. 2 weeks later, I receive a text saying that my items are ready for pick up. I responded to Cookie asking what time I could pick up my items and received an unclear response. After calling to clarify, I was met with very rude tone as she requested that I pick them up at a specific time to avoid wasting her time because she is busy (again, I am a student and I also work - I am also quite busy). I tried again a couple days later and was told that I could pick up my items at any time that day. As I am driving to pick up my items, I receive a text at exactly 12:57pm saying that they were closing at 1pm. I had to return home once again without my garments. Once I finally get the chance to pick up my items, I am met with another rude surprise. Cooking returned my items undone, stating that she did not have the time or desire to work on them because she had more expensive projects to do. Both my jacket and my jeans were untouched, seams still undone. I left with my undone garments, confused, upset, and disappointed. A few moments after I left, Cookie began sending me a slew of rude text messages about how I was unwilling to pay her for her services and blamed me for "wanting" to take out the seams (I am still very confused about that - I don't even own a seam ripper, she lent me hers). She even mentioned in her texts that she knew she would get a bad review because she's been in this situation before. I had to ask her to stop texting me. Now, I have to find someone else to sew up the seams on my jeans (extra money that I should not have to spend) and fix my jacket. Lesson learned. I would advise anyone looking for a seamstress/tailor to stay far away from this establishment. There are plenty of others around Greensboro that provide much better service with a higher standard of professionalism.
