Sanj's Cigar Shop and Lounge begins with Sanj thirty years ago and continues with him and all his customers, many of whom are members with boxes with a waiting list that may well be greatly accommodated with the expansive renovations he is working on himself with the assistance of a few people. He knows and has smoked every and anything in his shop and you will get a great deal and great advice and recommendations should you please. I did and that is why I bought a box and several of his house blends on my first visit this past weekend. How many times have you purchased a box from a brick and mortar and actually received a better bargain and proven quality at less than you can buy online...? I had heard from many people about this place and it may not shine as much as it could when the renovations will be complete and he can be better rested. Nevertheless, my Saturday afternoon and evening spent there meeting Mario who works there (and a talented and creative artist and photographer in his own right); a number of visitors (in fact I was introduced to all the visitors and regulars); as well as Rob who does a lot of You Tube videos ("should I smoke this?"); all that and then some made the mile long walk from the NJ Transit Station in the heat with a backpack and cooler pak well worth it. Gotta bring your own ice! He graciously allowed me the exception of relaxing on his covered back patio, ordinarily reserved for members, for a while during the evening with a few beautiful and powerfully intelligent Sistas who joined me. My fiancé and I went to Sanj's yesterday, and it was definitely one of the best cigar experiences I've ever had. The hospitality was first class, and Sanj sat with us and talked to us for hours! We drove 2 hours to check out his store, and we're so glad that we did. I'm a cigar industry guy, and he's definitely one of the most knowledgeable people that I've ever met. I visited this shop today after seeing it on the, "Should I Smoke This?" YouTube Channel. The place is clean and inviting. The humidors are beautiful and well organized. Sanj is laid back, friendly guy who clearly knows cigars and I heard him giving excellent suggestions to a mother and her son looking to buy a cigar to thank her son's trainer. I'm blown away by the variety here and picked up some rare sticks that I've never seen in any other shop I've been to. I think I've found my new spot. read more

I love this place! I stopped in for a last minute Father's Day gift after calling 10+ cigar shops to find a Davidoff carrier. When I entered, I was immediately greeted by the owner, who pointed out the HUGE selection of Davidoff cigars (they're so good!). The cigars were very reasonably priced and actually a lot cheaper than I was expecting them to be. They carry a ton of other brands there, too. The shop was tidy, the cigars were beautifully displayed, and they have couches where you can enjoy a cigar. The owner was super nice; he made a recommendation for a delicious cigar and even gave me a humidor for free! Customer service at its finest. I was REALLY looking forward to finally breaking my Sanj's cherry...buy a few smokes, watch the game and BS with a few of the regulars. That didn't happen. I know this place has gotten some great reviews and I've heard great things from my boy Andrew G., but I just had a really disappointing experience there. Clearly Sanj wasn't working, some guy, likely a member, seemed to filling in last minute. He really didn't know much about the cigars I was inquiring about and told me I couldn't go in the back to enjoy the cigars I just bought. Disappointing. Until this past year, I've tried to limit myself to six cigars a year. Why? I'm not really sure. In my head, only one cigar every other month seemed justifiable. After all, you're not supposed to inhale, right? Cough, cough. Well, due to the existence of Sanj's, my six-cigar-a-year rule has gone up in smoke. Sanj is right around the corner from me and the guy has been in business since 1992. And he means business. This place is stocked with a great selection of reasonably priced, perfectly humidified stogies stored in heavy, tightly sealed glass doors. For you cigar smokers, you know how important that is. Definitely recommend! I recently relocated from Miami to north New Jersey and was looking for a cigar lounge and Sanj's was one of about four that were recommended. I was impressed the minute I walked through the doors. The owner and guests were very welcoming. I ended up hanging out with them for about two or so hours. At no time did the owner pitch a sale to me. It was like being a guest at a friend's home. I tried a brand with a flavor I really liked and bought a box to add to my collection. Sanj has a great shop and the selection is overwhelming and the prices are all MSRP or lower.. I purchased a box of 12 Drew Estates Liga Privada 9 Flying Pig. The humidor is full I also purchased the the new Las Calaveras 2017 from The Crowned Heads... This shop has boxes and boxes of cigars it truly is a tobacco shop for cigar smokers... He has a private members area in the back for a yearly fee and it's 24 hour access ( I'm so joining ) .. I recommend this shop.... read more

Nice comfy shop. I walked I. Having see pix of it online, and since I frequent Bloomfield relatively often, I had earmarked it for a visit. Stopped in today and saw the owner smoking with a customer and or friend in the front of the shop. I had seen that he has a reasonable stock of Davidoff cigar (from the aforementioned pix noted above). True to form, I picked up a few and the owner advised well on careful selection of sticks from his inventory. Very impressed w selection and service. Def repeating my visit! read more

The owner was helpful and charming, and asked meaningful questions about the recipient, so that he could recommend something appropriate. Can't believe there are no reviews for this place yet! I'm giving Sanj's a 4/5 because of their prices and just quality of customer service. The space is a bit cramped, but they're currently doing some construction and maybe that'll change? Being a Bloomfield local, it's been a struggle finding a solid cigar spot. As you may have read elsewhere (or not), Sanj's prices really are top-notch. They're always having a good time in there, smoking a nice cigar and enjoying ripping on each other. What guys love to do best. They have a great selection of cigars, and the owners aren't ever ashamed to help you out. There's always a nice earthy cigar smell as you walk in. They have what you need: butane refills, cigars, cutters and lighters (although, not the TOP brands of cutters/lighters, which is fine). The big deal here is the prices and offerings: they carry such a wide variety of brands from Oliva to Nat Sherman (which is a tough brand to find locally, and one of my favorites). They're way better in terms of pricing than the other local spot in the area (Fume, Montclair). Check Sanj's out, and give them some Yelp love! read more

This place gets 5 stars for being a boutique store with prices that compete with large online retailers like cigars international and famous smoke shop. It's a tight space with some lounge chairs to smoke. Overall the selection was absolutely amazing. I could have sworn he had over 200 different cigars. All cigars are kept in enclosed cedar shelving which is humidified. The members area in the back section of the store is awesome.
