I came to Nantucket Golf Club in 2010 for a close friend's wedding, where I attended as a guest and…read moreDJ'd as my gift to the bride and groom. The celebration was enormous, with what felt like 300 to 400 people gathered beneath a massive tent. Yet, it remained one of the most sophisticated, opulent, and tasteful weddings I have ever attended. A sunset cocktail hour unfolded across the beautiful, surprisingly rural property, and the entire evening captured every bit of New England class imaginable without tipping into excess. My visit also left me with a lasting affection for Nantucket itself. I had a wonderful time at the Chicken Box, Cisco Brewers, Jetties Beach, and the island's chic downtown, and I hope to make it back someday. My own night became a crash course in how not to ruin someone's wedding. I had ridden a rented Vespa out earlier that day to set up and soundcheck my turntable rig, then returned about 15 minutes before my set as the band wound down, only to find that someone had intentionally or unintentionally disturbed the equipment during the shared setup. The solution I pieced together was definitely bootleg, especially given the quality of the wedding. Still, the party kept moving, and members of the group later told me how much fun everyone had and how much everyone drank. It was one of only five weddings I ever DJ'd, and I learned that separating business from pleasure is usually wise, though more power to anyone who can make both work when someone's big night depends on it. Nantucket Golf Club gave my friends an extraordinary place to celebrate, and it gave a young, inexperienced DJ a permanent lesson about guarding the equipment, limiting the wine, and never underestimating the pressure of entertaining a few hundred people.

Bad news: managers who treat their employees badly and are willing to berate them in front of the guests. Not the kind of vibe you're looking for on your wedding day. Stay away. What an incredible and fun course! I can say, "I've golfed on Nantucket..."…read more Public nine hole course, walking only and they do offer pull carts for those from the Cape or across the bridge. This course certainly does have its challenges, the wind being one of them and though most holes are straight, traps, boundaries, and narrowness of those fairways also present the player with some challenges. I was greeted by Dan who was the most professional, nice, funny, and accommodating staffer! He walked me around the facility, showed me where things were. Told me the history of the course. More importantly, he shows me the "Tee-she," original to the club, and he spoke to its folklore. I had a 9:30 tee time and I got on at 8:30, alone too. Thanks!! Fun course. I played mostly one over and par. Tanked the 9th - snowman. I'd say that the signature hole is the second, a Par 4 which I did par. Nice rest area with Adirondack chairs, plenty of parking, snacks and drinks, and they boast an appropriate Pro Shop. Very nice people work there, and it was a blast. I would absolutely play here again, and look forward to playing here again. Highest recommendation.

They didn't just process my payment, they actually took the time to chat and explain the course layout since it was my first visit. Big thumbs up for that! The course itself is fantastic. It's a 9-hole course, which makes it perfect for a quick round. It offers a challenge for beginners and allows experienced golfers to sharpen their skills. I had such a great time here, and I can't wait to come back again soon. If you're looking for a fun and friendly golf course, this is the place to go!

A solid 3.5 stars…read more The good: -Beautiful views of the water -The lounge area by the pool was so relaxing and comfortable! Sincerely the best of any resort we've stayed at -Genuinely friendly staff -The cleaning crew was phenomenal and didn't miss a spot The not-so-good: -Paper thin walls. We were woken up multiple nights because the upstairs guests were walking around. Yes, plain footsteps - not even stomping - were very audible. For close to 1k a night, this shouldnt have happened. My cheap grad school duplex apartment didn't even have walls this thin! -Friction prevented us from giving the resort more money. There's room service but no menu in the room and it wasn't easily found online either. And we were so ready to drop a good amount of money on poolside drinks and food but nobody waited on us both times we were at the pool. (They did happen to wait on the social media star who was present, which was very obvious, and we made eye contact with another family who shrugged because they hadn't been waited on either.) And finally the coffee shop closed at noon. We would have happily patronized the shop for a treat and a coffee and were disappointed to find it closed so early. -Our perception was that there was nothing going on at the Wequassett. We stayed in June (and received the May newsletter; perhaps that would've given us more info if we had the correct one?) We had expected the poolside bar to be open. Maybe some live music. Smores for the kids by the fire (we would've purchased this.) So many opportunities for improvement! We stayed at the cliff house in Maine last year and there was a number displayed around the resort that you could text and they'd send a message with info about was going on at the hotel that week! Such a memorable touch - Wequasset could consider something like this. All in all, not awful, but not blow-your-socks-off fantastic, either. Just plain average in the realm of resorts.

Wequassett has been for many years among the best properties I go to in the US (or internationally…read morefor that matter). Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.
