A cyclist was down on the bike path on Channel Drive. Seemed to be having a medical issue rather…read morethan a crash. Anyway, a unit showed up within just a few minutes to render much welcome professional assistance. The cyclist appeared to be OK as he was carried off with much care. It's possible the first unit arriving was from a different fire department as they said they got the call while passing by on the freeway. A second unit showed up a few minutes later from another FD, but I'm crediting Montecito (they also stowed the cyclist's bike). Bottom line, Fire Departments doing their job in Santa Barbara, excellent!

The crews have always been pleasant and professional in my dealings with them. They also serve as a resource for fire prevention and respond to emergency calls.

On November 19, 2018, my wife collapsed, stopped breathing and was unconscious.... terrifying!!!…read more911 operator dispatched the Somis fire and paramedics to our home. In a few minutes they arrived! In less than 2 minutes, they were doing CPR, as they were going out the door, transporting my wife to the nearest hospital ER! THEY SAVED MY WIFE'S LIFE!!! What an awesome, well trained and efficient fire department and paramedics unit!!! 911 Service as well!! Our community is SO FORTUNATE to have such amazing first responders, on the ready!!!
