These types of classes are not something you want to "memorize" - you want to be knowledgeable in your approach and understand why you're doing what you're doing when you're trying to save someone's life!!! I will not go anywhere else EVER again!! Another plus - if you need to take a class last minute, she will do her best to accommodate you in the class you want. This CPR training class left me feeling prepared to try to help with CPR and choking if the need…read moreever arises. I would recommend this course! I participated in a small group private CPR training session at my friend's home for 9 people. We focused on infant, child and adult CPR and choking. William is a wonderful instructor. He made the class very easy to follow and walked us through the process of what to do in an emergency situation, including seeking consent, assessing the person in distress, when to call 911, and how to perform CPR and help with choking. We practiced the process a few times with CPR manikins (different ones for infants and children/adults). William observed each of us and helped with tips and corrections as needed. We talked through various scenarios, and he gave us opportunities to ask questions. The manikins were very clean, and he also provided one-time-use gloves and sheets to cover the manikin's faces. Some tough topics are bound to come up in a CPR class - it's not easy to talk about scenarios of people in distress. William's experience in discussing these topics definitely showed. He is matter-of-fact but gentle in describing situations. The course was $40 per person. You can get a certificate as an add-on, which you can chat through with William if you are interested.

So I had to renew some of my certifications. Seeing as work and other engagements consistently…read morebring me to west LA, I decided to enroll in the certification class at this Red Cross in Santa Monica. The class went from 9AM to 2PM, and getting here was not a bad drive. I was able to get some coffee at a nearby Starbucks, and walked into class right on time. This location has a parking lot, and spaces are not hard to come by. The class had a relaxed vibe. We went over basic CPR and first aid, and practiced CPR and AEDs on dummies provided by the staff here. It was chill and fun. The class flew by quick, and we got our certifications via email within an hour after the class ended. The instructor was chill and communicated effectively. The class had about eight people, and it was pretty enjoyable. This is a great place to get, or renew, your CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
