Safe to say they are not a women friendly shop. My story is long and I am not going to share it. But in the 10 minutes I was there for a touch up I was called a liar, drunk and rowdy. I don't drink, so it would be hard to come in the shop drunk and rowdy, and there was nothing to lie about, I just wanted my tattoo fixed. My friends offered to pay for my first tattoo as an early Christmas present. I drove from Fort Bragg to Ukiah to see them and get it done. Unfortunately my friends didn't realize tattoos are by appointment only right now, and nobody in Ukiah could fit us in. I called the first shop on Google in Santa Rosa, they had time to fit all three of us in if we could get there quickly. We jumped in the car and we headed down. I was nervous and shaky but super excited. My tattoo was a simple line design. I didn't catch the guy's name but I think he was blonde. He was super nice, and as soon as I laid down I was instantly comfortable and calm. It took maybe three to five minutes to complete, he bandaged it up and told me how to care for it, and that was that. Not the scary bleeding mess I was expecting after hearing tattoo horror stories from my mother for over half my life. Got a tattoo just over a year ago there: -Some of the black line work is already completely gone. -Artist put white on top of dark ink without leaving space for it so the parts of the tattoo that were supposed to be light were completely gone after a couple months. -Font in my drawing was changed without checking with me into something that most closely resembles squished together comic sans. -The shadows were freehanded instead of stenciled, and don't follow realistic light physics. -Artist went over his estimate without checking in with me about it. -I have made multiple attempts to reach out to the artist to schedule touch-ups with no response. I had booked several tattoos at Santa Rosa Tattoo. There policy is to pay a deposit. I had a dog paw that I wanted to memorialize with the dates my dog was born and killed. The dates on the tattoo were done incorrectly. I was devastated as it took me 4 years to even do this tattoo. I politely called and cancelled my other 2 tattoos. The artist was polite and asked to fix it. I asked him to be sure and let Daat know I was cancelling. Went to just get my deposits back and Daat treated me horrible. Gave me a bad time about getting my deposit back. Still dont have all my money back, as he choose to make it difficult. He also choose to make sure and tell me I was responsible for the date being wrong. The date is a date in the future..... Daat is absolutely unbelievable and his work far exceeded my expectations! I went in with a few pictures and told him the size I was thinking and that I wanted some flowers, lace and maybe an hourglass or clock when I came in a few days later he had something drawn up that had everything I had asked for and looked fantastic so I went for it, he said there would be allot more detail in the actual tattoo, the sketch was perfect to me so detail was just going to be an added bonus. We started on time. he made sure I was comfortable throughout the process and even welcomed me to have a friend with me. The shop is super clean and has all kinds of fun and cool artwork and artifacts for you to look around at while you're being worked on. Other reviews talk about people stopping by and smoke breaks, that wasn't my experience. Except for the smoke breaks I wanted. My tattoo is out of this world amazing and is better than I could have imagined, the detail is out of this world! When I look at my tattoo next to the pictures I brought in to give him an idea all I can think is thank god this one is mine and not those. I just got it done last night and wore a tube top today to air it out and it was nearly annoying how many people wanted to stop and look at it or ask where I got it done. I saw a tattoo on this guy's back that Daat did. Sick as f***est thing I ever seen. Scared the s*** out of me. It was an evil dancing clown all sucked up on meth & controlled by 2 puppet hands. Dude explained to me the meaning. He said long ago he was hopelessly addicted to drugs and alcohol and was a puppet on a string. The evil puppeteer kept him dancing like a clown and controlled his every move with drugs and alcohol. He tried everything to shake it, but no matter what, it was impossible. He felt like s*** all the time. He was sick, hungry and tired 24/7. He said eventually he found a power higher than himself and turned his will & life over the care of God. He showed me other tattoos of AA and NA logos and a sobriety date May 4th 1983. He said his tattoos are a reminder of how horrible his life was and that he never wants to go back. A few of my bridesmaids and myself went away for a bachelorette weekend, but being the new variant was rising we decided to keep it low key and just do the things that I loved... which was eat, shop, and just have a calm weekend away. I also love tattoos so 2 of my bridesmaids and myself decided to get a Lion King theme tattoo to commemorate the weekend. We called Santa Rosa Tattoo ahead of time to make sure they had room for us. They said we would have to come as soon as possible as they get busy, so we decided to go right before our dinner reservations. When we got there there seemed to be a lack of direction, however once I got with my tattoo artist it was easy. Him and one of my bridesmaids were talking about shoes the entire time, and even though I felt he was slightly heavy handed I was happy with my tattoo. However, the other tattoo artists who tattooed my 2 other bridesmaids had A LOT of issues with their tattoo artist. One he had to redo because the tattoo she got we weren't satisfied with and no one really would be. After speaking with Ness, she finally got him to fix the tattoo... which at that point we were not elated but we were satisfied enough where it wouldn't ruin our weekend. One bridesmaids had her finger tattooed with a note from her husband. It was 2 words and no one suggested to anyone that it wasn't wise to get it on the finger, however when trying to get it fixed she was ignored until she got a hold of the owner, who btw was rude, disrespectful, condescending, and would rather blame their client instead of admitting to their own mistakes. Claiming that we were inebriated and rowdy when they tattooed (which we weren't) says 2 things about this shop, that they are either incompetent or lying to avoid any responsibility for any mishaps. Man I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I've had surgery twice and the tattoo artist here had a steadier hand than my surgeon. Extremely laid back environment with awesome music, great decoration of the shop. Don't let the neighborhood scare you off, this shop is the real deal. I came in with a garbage drawing and they literally turned it into a masterpiece and put it on my body. "Warren" I believe tattooed me. 100% professional with medical grade sterilization, great advise for tattoo design and placement, and an overall comfortable environment the whole time. The guys here just kicked it and tatted up me and my buddy while keeping us smiling and laughing the whole time. They made quick work of us but I couldn't have been happier with the results. My tattoo was meant to be backwards so it could only be read in the mirror and the artist did an exceptional job of communicating with me to figure out EXACTLY what I wanted, and put EXACTLY that on my arm with no discrepancies. Also- price can't be beat! If you want a small tattoo their minimum is a LITTLE expensive but honestly it's worth it for the work they do. I can't say anything bad about this shop. I will not be going anywhere else for my future tattoos, and I would recommend it to anybody who wants the full experience of becoming friends with your tattoo artist and collaborating to put some badass ink on skin. My dad took me here 3 years ago for my first tattoo. I was scheduled to have Daat do a simple zodiac sign with cherry blossoms. He spent more time outside talking with friends who came into the shop and smoking than dealing with us. Then he pawned us off onto a man who didn't even work there!
