ABSOLUTELY, this place made a stressful situation EXTREMELY STRESSFUL…read more 1. Funeral Director 'Dana' NEVER returned phone call as promised. I had to call them again next day. 2. As a result of #1, our preferred dates for visitation/funeral/burial were not available. 3. No water offered at our 3 hour planning meeting. (& it was pre planned in 2016). Craig Hannah. Funeral director 4. Funeral Director Hannah left room and was gone 23 minutes to then return with alternate dates. 5. The guest sign in book and funeral programs were forgotten and not brought to church for funeral. (Hannah) 6. The gravesite collapsed and burial was canceled/delayed. (Justin) 7. Replacement jewelry was forgotten and not available to 'swap out' (Hannah) 8. The funeral home REFUSED TO PLACE PETS' CREMAINS IN MOM'S CASKET (per Ruthie MacGilbert) Did they do anything right? Yes. But the above items should be basic, thoughtful, common acts of professional responsibility and courtesy. BIG FAIL.

Other visitors allowed to drive and park however…read morethey wanted but rented cop told me 1) I could only park on the right side of the pictured road, 2) I had to move my car because I was blocking traffic even though I drive a compact car and had pulled over already, and 3) I would be removed from "private property" if I didn't comply. Other visitors were violating recommendations regarding social distancing and wearing face masks while consuming alcohol. An employee told me there was nothing they could do because it was being done on "public property". Whether the cemetery is private property or public property depends on what rules they feel like making up at the moment and against whom they feel like enforcing those "rules". Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about either. They already have your money and you can't just remove your loved ones' remains without incurring great expense.

The grounds are massive and impeccably maintained with a clearly attentive and caring staff. Beautiful statuary throughout. You can basically play your own game of famous Houstonian bingo here - lots of street names can be found on the headstones here. Absolutely recommend planning a respectful, quiet, and contemplative visit to walk the grounds and take in the views.

Glenwood Cemetery was developed in 1871 on two tracts of land on the north side of Buffalo Bayou,…read moreand west of Downtown Houston. Glenwood hosted its first burial on June 19, 1872. By 1874, Glenwood was a recreational destination. A mule-drawn street railway operated on Washington Road, conveying people to Glenwood for weekend and holiday visits. Glenwood differs from most urban cemeteries of that time that had a grid pattern. Glenwood has meandering roads and trails and is beautifully landscaped. This historic cemetery is the final resting place of a number of individuals who were citizens of the short-lived Republic of Texas as well as famous citizens of Houston, Harris County and the state of Texas. One of the most famous buried here is Howard Hughes. The cemetery is a fun place to walk or bike ride, it's very shady so quite nice, even in summer. I was there as the new year came and enjoyed seeing many beautiful monuments.

I didn't too much care for all the mirrors. I can almost understand why they have them everywhere, but I scared myself walking in the entrance where there is a large mirror. Before walking in the chapel is a large mirror. Inside of the chapel is a wall of mirrors. I guess you can check yourself in the entrance to make sure your clothes or hair is straight, but all of the others were a bit much for me. It may be wonderful for others, but a bit much for me.

The appearance of everything, and I mean everything was beyond exception. She chose him to handle her remains and I am so glad she did. The way he talked with us and dealt with us is worthy of applause. I had only one bad experience. I was called by Mrs Robinson, from his office, to give me information about the Death Certificates. She was not courteous in her talking and seemed frustrated as she was getting information from me. I pray that she will change and no one else has to be talked to in that way. I was a little disappointed because everything else with this funeral home was done with a sweet spirit. Thank you again Mr. Michael Davis. This would be a 5 start review, if not for the negative interaction.
