Highly recommended for basic wash and set and blow outs. I have only been there 3-4 times and have had my hair done by different girls each time and it was consistently good. I have been very pleased with how my hair looks. In terms of price, I would say it is pretty good. Wash and set is $25 and direct blow dry is $30. I will say that I had the eyelash service done for $25 but i didn't care for it, and I had my brows waxed and hated them. I also want to mention a particular incident I witnessed with someone getting their hair colored. Basically it was the worst job ever. She asked to match her ash blonde tips with her darker routes. They made her hair a yellow color and she was practically crying. The owner lent her no attention and blamed her for not being clear in what she wanted, which I know to be untrue. The atmosphere is incredibly tense, and it's clear that the owner, Victor, along with his sidekick Kenya, need serious help with customer support--because it's virtually nonexistent here. I waited an absurd hour just for a wash, followed by a 45-minute roller set. Then, I found myself under the dryer for a whopping 2 hours because there were no stylists available to remove my rollers. After that, I had to endure another hour for a blowout. Why is it like this? It's absolutely ridiculous! When I pointed out that I had arrived before the four people ahead of me, Victor started yelling at me. I simply picked up my belongings and walked out. It's clear they don't need or value business. Service continues to decline. The stylists are not properly trained, especially when it comes to basic hair care. They comb wet hair from root to end with fine-tooth combs, causing unnecessary breakage and split ends. Both adults and children end up losing hair because of improper detangling. They also overuse heat, excessive blow-drying followed by high-heat flat ironing which leaves hair dry, damaged, and unrepairable. Communication is difficult because most of the stylists only speak Spanish, making it hard to explain styling preferences. The manager is dismissive and often rude. Their products contain questionable ingredients, and they charge extra if you bring your own, which feels unreasonable. The only positive is the owner, Victor, whose customer service and professionalism stands out but he's not always there, and his business experience has greatly declined. Recently at Santa beauty salon I had an awful experience. After having my hair done I felt as if I had some left over product in my hair.I went back and asked the lady who is in charge. Then a lady with blonde hair came to look at my hair. With a nasty attitude she put gloves on, touched the back of my hair said something in Spanish and walked away and didn't rinse my hair. Eso lo que es un robo. Have yet to find a hair salon in New Jersey that's Dominican and Is as good as New York City. I came in with my hair mask bottle to put on after my hair wash and before my rollers. It was 5pm the lady washing did a great job, put on my hair mask that I bought and then rinsed and did the rollers. It was 5:40 when I got into the rollers at 5:45pm a woman came touching my hair to see if it was dry I said it's only been 5 minute. I realized even though they took me at 5pm they were dying to finish and leave ( which again is okay but don't take clients at 5pm if you don't want to stay late and style hair).m So I told her don't worry I'll just stay here a little longer and I'll just leave with out a blow dry. ( other women were getting their hair blow dried and another woman who was in there longer than I was still under the rollers along with another woman as well.) From what I could see they aren't a blow drying salon, mostly flat iron and very fast about their money I don't see the quality. Try another spot this isn't it. read more

I want to love this place mostly because of how well structured the owner has made it but the lack of knowledge / experience with curly / textured hair. Otherwise this place is good for blow outs. Victor is the owner. I started going to Santa's before they moved from Main Street to the new location. During the move, it was closed for months and I found another hair salon until it reopened. But recently I returned and it went from bad to worse. Victor the owner is very hospitable to his customers but the workers skills are awful. Victor hires "workers" not hair stylists. They don't know how to style hair without a flat iron. If you are black, they turn up the blow dryer to extra hot and heat up the flat iron to the highest temperature possible. By the time you are done your scalp and hair are toasted and dry. This is a Hispanic stylist misconception that the deeper your skin color the harder your hair is to manage and the higher the temperature is needed to manage bad hair. They don't believe that using good products and moisturizing would make it easier. That's why black women are choosing natural and Hispanic salons are losing customers. Well anyway, my last visit was a month ago when I went for a gray edge coloring, wash and set. I only gray on the edges so that is what I requested. Victor told the shampoo lady to put the color on my entire head in Spanish knowing that I requested the edge. When I realized what she was doing I asked and he responded not to worry, it is good and it was the remaining color anyway. Well, when I went to pay and he charged me $90 for the entire color. He tricked me. He neglected to tell me he was going to charge more. It was $30 more than I normally pay. I didn't say anything but I will never return to this business again. I am so disappointed about his dishonesty. That's bad practice. I stopped going there and found a better salon where the stylists know how to style with a blow dryer and don't need a flat iron to straighten. Victor is a Nice Guy, Hospitable, Fantastic Shampoo Washer; however, Business Man is not a category I would put him in because ANYONE can "have" a Business but can you "Operate" a Business is the Question? Case & Point; there are NO PRICES of "Services" listed; do you know why? Because He and Kenya make calls to each other in the back room if the other isn't present in the Salon! For Example: Today, January 9, 2024 Victor isn't present at the Hair Salon; as per my last conversation with him; he was attending an event at his Twin's College at Rutgers. Nevertheless, Kenya goes in the back room and "calls" Victor to ASK how much to "charge" me for a "Relaxer"! Now, if I'm the "Customer" wouldn't I know how much I am going to be "charged" after attending this Salon for 1 year and 9 months? It's been $65 for a Relaxer; today it is $70! Don't get me wrong; I'm not opposed to pay $5.00 extra but every time Kenya is the "Manager" in Victor's "Absence" she ALWAYS CHANGES the prices adding on $5.00; example; a Wash & Set is $40 now it's $45; Okay again! If the Prices went UP by $5.00 shouldn't that be KNOWN on the wall saying $5,00 increases, like the have the Piece of Paper in the Pissy Smelling Bathroom where I won't even put my dog on the floor; saying "As of Labor Day we will be on Open on Tuesdays"; New Year's just passed; when are they going to take these dilapidated piece of paper down? However, today was the LAST STRAW for me with Kenya and her huffing & puffing! Previously, I got a WASH & SET on a Sunday; Never Again! If you do not have anything to do, but to waste your Entire 4 hour day, then Go to this Salon! On a this particular Sunday, I wanted to Pay for my hair with a Credit Card! Horrible disgusting job. I went in the salon and they absolutely fried my hair. My scalp was burning with how horrible the job was. The colorist was absolutely horrible and even got the die, which was a complete black on my very very light brown with highlights hair, in my ears. Nobody should come here. I have gotten my roots done multiple times before and this absolutely horrible. On top of that the owner calls his clients rude and offensive names in spanish. I started coming here because they are open on Sundays. I am Hispanic/black with thick but soft relaxed hair. I was in the process of growing back my hair when I decided to come here. After about six months of coming here, I experienced soooooo much breakage at the top of my hair and at the hairline that I can no longer do a middle part. Actual CHUNKS. I went into Santa's with naturally curly hair. I am African-American. I went to get a wash and set with a deep conditioner. Unbeknownst to me, during the process, they used products that may have contained relaxer. After a week of wearing my wash and set, I went to wash my hair as normal, but smelled a chemical smell after applying water to get ready to lather the shampoo. After washing and conditioning it, I noticed that mynusually frizzy edges were laying down straight and the rest of my hair was limp. When I went to a different salon, they showed me where my hair broke off (pic shown). Warning - bring your own products to this salon to save your hair, or make sure they dont go into that black cabinet to the left of the sinks for products to use during a wash and set. read more

My go to hair salon. I have been going here since I was 13 (10 years). I've always had a good experience. I really recommend doing a keratin treatment here. It's a long process but well worth it. My hair looks beautiful after. You can be here for a while sometimes because they are busy especially Saturday mornings . They do their best to get you out fast. Really nice staff. The owners are really nice and helpful. I've done keratin treatments here, wash and sets, colored, relaxer and cut my hair here. They are now cash only. They have a parking lot in the back. I first started going to this hair salon a few months ago. At the beginning I was happy with the service, the hair stylist Maylen is a really sweet lady and her blowouts are truly amazing. The issues started when I came in to get highlights. I specifically asked for a low peroxide discolorant because my hair is really fine. First I was informed that somebody else would be doing the job, apparently my usual hairstylist wasn't allowed to do it. The results were disastrous. Uneven highlights and my the hair strands started to break right away. When it brought it up to their attention they immediately changed the subject. I decided to buy my own expensive products in a effort to save my hair from further damage. You would think that they are now saving money because they are no longer using their products for my wash but instead they decided to charged an extra $15 for applying my own products. I also got a little annoyed by the fact that they circulate discount coupons at the local supermarket but will never honor them. They would say that the promotion was no longer valid but continue to offer them to attract new customers knowing that they would not honor them. I am a good tipper but realized that I was spending more money in extra fees and tips than the actual cost of the service. I decided to never go back to this place and it is a shame since I liked the hairstylist but the management of this place is just money hungry and not interested in keeping a loyal clientele as long as they can make a quick buck. read more

Came to the salon today and petty the usual its packed. However they only have two girls blowing hair - one is new someone I have never seen and other is somewhat new but she does a horrible job blowing hair. She leaves your hair feeling like you never got it done. The owner's wife is helping roller set your hair and on a scale of 1-10 she's working with a 3.5. I understand the staff is on vacation but there needs to be better scheduling so the customer don't feel it. People are paying for a service that your not really giving. Professional and competent workers. Victor please work on this. If everyone is on vacation then close the shop..don't leave your loyal customers in the dark with people who can't so hair. Santa's beauty salon has been my go-to spot for my hair for many years. I love getting a wash and set and I always feel and look great leaving their salon. Carolina is great with my hair because she has a soft hand and doesn't pull or burn my hair or scalp with the blow dryer. I've been to the salon twice since the pandemic has been going on and the owner, Victor, has taken all the extra precautions and is super clean and careful with the entrance procedures. I have a natural curly hair went there for a blow out and next day when I washed half of my hair fall off, and some strange chemical smell come out of my hair. Seems like the person who did my blow out put some chemical products to make the blow out easy and because I don't use any chemical (relaxer or permanent color) that reacted and broke all of my hair. This is very disappointing specially because I was growing my hair for my wedding in a few month and now I had to cut it off. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

THE WORST SALON EVER!!!!!!! I wanted to get my hair dyed a red velvet color and I showed THE OWNER the exact color I wanted and the people who were dying my hair didn't mention that I had to bleach my hair to get the exact color I wanted, NIETHER DID THE OWNER! I ended up with an orange-brown color!!!!!!! WTH!!!!! PLUS they charged me for a conditioning that I didn't ask for!!! $55 down the drain!!! If they are supposedly "licensed professionals" they should know the steps for dying hair to certain color!! The employees are careless and only care about eating their lunch!! I went back two days later to get it fixed and there's was one lady who offered to help and gave me exactly the color I wanted, AND SHE DID EVERYTHING!!! She was amazing!! The other employees kept telling her "oh her hair is fine now" or "oh why do you need more dye it's already red" , blah blah, blah. Careless motherfudgers! ALSO my friend who came with me, noticed ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES DRINKING BEER when she was going to the bathroom in the back room!!!!! I'm in love! This is really 4.8 stars for the reasons below. After a friend came here in September, for some reason I procrastinated about coming in. I'd been doing my own relaxers and color, and honestly my hair had had it. I was reluctant to get a relaxer at a Dominican place (being that I'm Black) since I've ever only gone for a wash and set. Being fairly new to the area, I figured why not. The salon is beautiful..the pictures posted are spot on! But the important part, the service. Being that it was 4PM on a Tuesday, no wait. I said I needed a relaxer and was quickly sat. Carolina quickly based me, but didn't ask what products I used, or what other services I wanted. She did continue to converse with her co-workers. I noticed a few scraps of hair on the floor from a previous trim that remained throughout my visit (the main reasons why 4.8 stars). But I'm not a salon person anyway and only go out of necessity, so not speaking was fine, but it would have been nice to at least talk about why I was there. The posh surroundings lead me to forget where I was. So after applying the relaxer, I was taken back to get rinsed. I regret I didn't get the name of the woman who washed my hair, because she totally upsold me, even though I was an easy sell. Deep conditioner? Yes! Honey, your color...DO IT UP! After all that, Carolina roller set me. I was fully expecting the pain of the hair dryer I was accustomed to at Dominican hair salons while drying. Maybe it was because my scalp wasn't half scratched off. Maybe because the dryer wasn't set to "Lava." Either way, it was fine and I was more than happy. Being that I hadn't had a hair cut or trim in nearly 7 months, I was expecting to walk out with a bob. So happy Carolina left it below my shoulders, even, and I love it! The infamous hair dryer of death actually was not so bad and my scalp is still in tact and pain free. My hair does not smell burned and feels wonderful. So in all I had a relaxer, deep conditioner, color, and cut....for $70. This salon alone makes me happy to live in Jersey and not NYC (not really, but close). More importantly, i was done in under 3 hours!!!! I'm not sure what brand of relaxer was used (I forgot to ask) but the products for sale in the front included Moroccan Oil which they use as well, in addition to other salon quality lines I recognized but am forgetting the name. This is the first salon of any type that i feel comfortable coming to on a regular basis AND can afford! I can't say enough how happy I am! read more

I came here with an idea - for short hair. And please keep in mind I've never had SHORT hair. Blanca was nice enough to go with the idea: she cut my hair, she gave me volume, but for some reason I just wasn't happy as I looked at it in the mirror. (NOT HER FAULT, of course). So I asked her to cut it shorter - mind you, she was already done with me and was helping her next customer. So when she was done, she sat me back in her chair, asked me to think about what I really wanted and started cutting all over again. She did exactly as I asked her, and I walked away happy - and a few inches short of hair...again =) Blanca is wonderful, the staff is very friendly, the salon offers great services that won't cost you an arm and a leg like the do in other joints. Let's start by saying I used to come here years ago when I had straight relaxed hair and they did a fairly good job at their wash and set. I always had issues with them using too much heat with the hand blow dryer and brush. I would ask which ever stylist to not blow so long the hair is already dry and straight. Either way , I have went natural for the last two years and decided to go back for a wash and set. Unsure if they could do natural hair I called victor and asked. He said yes and quoted me a price for the wash and set, with a rinse ( he talked me into a jet black Demi) once I got there. No problem. Everything went wrong. The woman doing my hair didn't even wash it correctly , was fighting with my hair to detangle it. She left it oily and with no movement after burning me several times with blower and hot iron. I almost walked out. When I looked at my self in the mirror , I was in tears at my hair. And the owners wife still made me pay for nothing. She offered to redo it with the only other stylist there but I had to go and with hair smelling Luke it's burned I didn't trust them at all. She agreed with me the hair looked bad but was smiling at me a minute ago as though the woman did a good job. They knew it was horrible. I told her I could do way better at home. Since Covid started, I've been calling and scheduling my appointment ahead of time just to make sure that they're open. When you arrive, they sanitizer the bottom of your shoes, take your temperature and have you wash your hands before they proceed to take you in the chair. This place was okay, my hair is naturally curly but I've been to many salons and it's takes them 45-50 mins to do a simple blowout! I came here and it took them 2 and half hours! Hair came out too flat I asked for volume and big curls. Shame it didn't last! Place is super clean and nicely decorated!
