This is an excellent restaurant. It was a shame that they shut all over Christmas and New Year. The menu is varied and eclectic - certainly not just a pizza restaurant. That being said - the pizza is very good and can be ordered by length. Take all your friends and order a couple of yards ! The starter platters are very good and available in vegetarian too. We live across from Santore so it has become our staple 'go to' restaurant. Menu doesn't change often but this is good as I have so many favourites on there. First thing you notice is that it is always busy, not always a good sign in fickle Clerkenwell but here, a lot of the customers are regulars and know they are in for a good time. Second thing you notice is the fantastic island of fresh antipasti. A plate of this make a hearty starter or a nice lunch on its own. Thirdly are the the authentically italian waiters. Efficient, friendly and with a mediterranean swagger they add to the experience immensely. Pasta dishes are honest and full of flavour. Pizzas are thin, crispy and packed with toppings. Without a doubt the best pizza in London. A bit remote from tube stops, but worth the walk (and Exmouth Market is great, of course). Basically here's the deal: their pizza crust is right up there with the most delicious bread you've ever eaten. The staff (who are mostly Italian) will treat you like family, and they serve pizza by the metre. Seriously. My favourites; Rucola, Rustica, Americana and the Calzonpizza. But really you can't go wrong. There's also an amazing egglpant & smoked mozarella thing on the starter menu that I can't remember the name of but which I would happily eat every day for the rest of my life. read more

Was loving this place on a warm Friday night....sitting outside, being waited on by charming Italians, and having a true Naples-inspired Italian menu. Had so many pizzas to choose from and thoroughly enjoyed my bubbly crusted, cheese infested, sausage topped goodness. I'll be back for shizzle. read more

Amazing little place in clerkenwell serving amazing tradutional italian food. It seems literally every employee is italian and this does make a difference as they seem to be quite passioned about what they call italian food. We had 2 pizzas as our first try and were greatly impressed with it and are coming back. Try the one with buffala mozzarela! You cannot go wrong with it! Another great find at Exmouth Market. Came here with a large party on a weekday evening, and had a lovely experience all around. We had 20 people altogether, seated between 2 tables of ten. We ordered 4 metres of pizza (2 metres per board) to split between 10 people at the table, and had 4 types of pizza on each. It was actually the perfect amount! The house white wine wasn't very expensive, and we were too full for dessert but the staff came out and sang for the birthday girl, which was very cute. The service was great and it wasn't stressful at all, even with a large group. I will definitely come here again! read more

Undoubtedly the best Italian place I have been to in London (said by an Italian!). Their pizzas and pastas are amazing. I highly recommend the Maltagliati with prawns and courgettes, and the Scialatielli with aubergines. Big portions, and great value for money. It is always packed and you should definitely make a reservation if you don't want to wait in line for an hour. The managers can get a bit grumpy when there's a lot of queue, but the waiters are always lovely. The service is fast. read more

One of the best pizzas that I have had in London, complete with delicious, chewy, blistered thin crust. While the pizza menu was very pork heavy (read: no chicken or beef meat options here), a friend and I shared a couple of delicious vegetarian selections, and a crisp rocket salad on the side. Ordering pizza by the "meter" seems to be the way to go in the future, especially if you are in a large group and want to sample a variety of flavours. What could be improved? The service was adequate but not great (our pizza arrived about 5 minutes after ordering, but it took us almost 15 minutes to get the bill!)... and I wouldn't mind a more extensive wine and beer selection. But that all said, I could certainly see myself returning to Santore in the very near future. read more

One of my favourite local Italians in the area along with Fabrizio's on Leather Lane. Pizza is the best I have had in London good and their pasta and seafood dishes are really strong. 5cc Cocktail Club or Caravan down the street are good pre drink spots. read more

I had the ottechiette with broccoli and sausage. Delicious! Minus one star because that was only one of few dishes appropriate for a lactose intolerant person (I.e. everything else contained large amounts of cream or cheese). Compared to other italian restaurants I've been to, the menu isn't diverse enough to cater to such food allergies. read more

This is my favorite Italian spot in London. The pastas are delicious and the oven baked pizzas are great! The service isn't the best but then again the waiters aren't receiving tips like in America. Disappointing. A regular to us locals let us down massively when it counted. As a family we've been going to Santore for 5/6 years now, but not again. An error is just that, an error- namely getting espresso accidentally spilled on my back. What's more than an error- a failing, is nobody offering to help, or even provide a napkin without prompting, before being told to 'give us the dry cleaning bill' - who has time to do that? How long will that take? Not a useful or even considerate response to someone who had to sit through the rest of a family meal in wet clothes. The rest of the evening passed without incident until the bill was paid by one member of the party. This is when it went from a failing to out and out hostility. When we realised no goodwill gesture had been taken off the bill the proprietor engaged with two female members of the family party in rude, misogynistic behaviour when they tried to exhort him to do the right thing. Lots of talk about 'I'll talk to your husband" or "I talked to your father". Shameful. In the end, after saying the "till was closed" (what, is there a padlock on it) we got our tip back and tried to pull back the evening (an evening that featured kids and members of family that so rarely get together) but as we left, not one single member of staff said goodnight - we were met with stony silence and the door moodily held open for us. What the shame is here is that the use of misplaced male machismo and pack loyalty they have lost 6/7 streams of business, as we won't be returning after being denigrated and belittled. The food is good, and no doubt Santore will remain full most evenings of local punters and pizza deliverers but it's too late now. Santore made it clear it's us vs them. And the hell if we're going there ever again. read more

I used to go here fairly regularly, but they have really gone downhill since my last visit, and after last night's disaster I won't be coming back. We always get pizza but thought we'd branch out this time and give them a chance. We got antipasti, which turned out to be unseasoned vegetables and overly fishy-tasting fish - only the beans and ham on the plate were good. Then we waited over 40 minutes for our mains, which were disappointing when they finally came - and not even warm enough! Our capricciosa pizza was soggy, and the toppings were poor-quality, as previous reviews have mentioned - tinned salty artichoke in big chunks and tinned olives. The veal rolled around aubergine was bland and tough. When we expressed our disappointment to our waiter - after paying the bill, even the automatic 12.5 tip, because who wants to make a scene - he did not seem to understand what we were saying. Never again! The place across the street also has terrible pizza. I'll have to find somewhere else entirely for my pizza fix. read more

We had a very good pizza from the wood fired oven. (Rustica & Cappricciosa) Soft and crisp! Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Price 40,- for two pizzas, two drinks and one dessert is probably acceptable for London. read more
