Don't believe all of the fake reviews they've been piling on since I've left this review. This law firm are snakes and will rip you off if you have to do Chapter 13. ********** I've been overbilled thousands of dollars by Steve Berg. Steve would call me to ask me questions and would take a question that took 5 minutes to answer and turn it into a 45 - 60 minute call. Then he would call me again days later because he "misplaced" my answer. So, another 45-60 minute call. Then he would call a week or two later asking the same question. Each and every time I was billed for full hours for Steve Berg. I had suspected something was going on so I demanded all communication happen via email. Steve Berg got upset and stopped communicating completely, even important case issues. He emailed a couple of times but eventually went back yo his old tactics of multiple phone calls regarding the same issues over and over again. I've been billed for tax return review and submit to the trustee but then months later I get a notice that my return was never sent to the trustee and my case was set for dismissal as a result. When they did finally send them, they billed me again. This has happened twice.

Unfortunately Attorney Fairweather passed away a few months later. I requested to meet with a new attorney at Hawks Quindel. The firm made me pay an additional consultation fee to meet with the second attorney, which I thought was odd. After less than an hour in the office, the second attorney told me that I didn't have a case. Not only was I out one, but two consultation fees, and left exactly where I started. Today, I read an article where an attorney at Hawks Quindel is representing a volunteer who is suing a non-profit organization (a volunteer rescue squad) because he felt that he should be paid for his volunteer service. While I wholeheartedly agree that Paramedics deserve good pay, that volunteer KNEW what he was signing up for when he applied to be a volunteer. After looking into said volunteer, I see that he has felony convictions for Medicare fraud, in which he was ordered to pay over a MILLION dollars in unearned fraudulent claims. So he turns to suing a volunteer run ambulance service to pay back his debts? I don't think so. Hawks Quindel should be ashamed of themselves for representing a professional con artist. Once I retained her, I felt like the cavalry had arrived. She reduced my financial exposure from thousands of dollars to hundreds, and the difference in preparation and advocacy between Attorney Leaf and opposing counsel was immediately apparent. I imagine there's a time when a young person dreams of becoming an attorney, then spends years learning what excellence in the profession looks like. Then comes the day that person realizes they have become that attorney--and demonstrates it every day. In my view, Kristin Leaf is one of those attorneys. That's the one thing I appreciated most about Attorney Leaf. She listens--even when she probably already knows the answer. Even when your thinking is off track. Attorney Leaf has clearly invested in becoming an exceptional attorney, and it shows in every interaction. GRGB is lucky to have her. Retain her before the other side does!
