    The offending hunk of hair

I went to get my own hair trimmed as well as a hair piece cut which required the piece being placed on my head as I have thin hair and hair loss in front. My hair was not secured properly by the stylist who wound up cutting a hunk out of the middle. She was a very nice, sweet woman and I actually feel bad writing this but it's unacceptable to then spend two seconds cutting crappy bangs to fix it and say "well, that's the risk you take" after having to come back to the salon. Honestly I was already heartbroken about losing so much of my hair but I might shave it as the already weird bangs are just going to get stringy as I sweat in the summer. I received not a discount or anything after tipping her 20 and paying the salon 75 for this disaster. It's also my birthday tomorrow so... happy birthday to me.

Writing this on behalf of my roommate, who is a regular at this salon and has had nothing but wonderful experiences up until today. My roommate called to make an appointment for a curly cut and high/lowlights. She showed a reference photo of what she has had done in the past and asked for this again. The color combination used on her hair in the past was never noted or written down. This stylist rushed through the entire appointment and it shows. For the curly cut, she took strands and chopped the ends leaving my roommate's hair frizzy and unevenly layered. For the highlights, no weaving was done because these are bleached, bright yellow large chunks of hair. We don't believe her hair was parted based on how uneven these strands are and the fact that the highlight starts an inch below her root. Her highlights were not toned. My roommate cannot be blamed for what happened because she cannot see the back of her head, as stupid as that sounds, and didn't know what the back looked like until myself and our third roommate combed through her hair and took pictures to show her. *I would like to note, my roommate has always had phenomenal experiences with Nicole and this salon.

Have now had my fourth unfavorable experience at this salon/spa. I have to bring my own nail polish with me because for whatever reason they don't have an appropriate color for a traditional French manicure/pedicure, only bright and bubblegum pinks. Additionally, showed up on time for my appointment and was told the pedicurist was running late. Apparently 40 minutes late. I had inquired about the discount that is offered between Sapphire and my place of employment to which I was told they don't do that anymore, even though my place of employment just released their list of collaborating businesses for the new fiscal year and sapphire was included. However because of the delay they said they would honor a 10% discount in contrast to what should have been a 20% discount because of my job. While the pedicurist was nice, that's where it ended. I found it very unprofessional that I had to wait an additional 40 minutes and wasn't even allowed to use the discount I should have been entitled to. Then the cherry on top is the pedicure didn't even look good! This will be the absolute last time I ever visit this nightmare of a salon.

I would rate this place a 0 if I could. A few years ago I got my hair done at the Moosic location. I wanted an ombré. The girl doing my hair made me look like a literal leopard. It was like a bowl was placed on my head and the rest was died bleach blond. It was horrific. I remember leaving and the receptionist telling me my hair looked great, just to get home and have my friend tell me how horrific my hair looked. Fast forward a few years later, I decided to give sapphire salon another chance; this time, I decided to go to the Pittston location to get my make up done for a Christmas party. I paid for a half hour session. The session turned out to be 20 minutes; my make up was done by a man. I'm sorry, but men do not do their make up on a daily basis, so this should have been my red flag, but I didn't want to be rude so I gave him a chance. I showed him a picture of a simple Smokey eye look and he said "say no more." I paid 30 dollars and I walked out of there looking like an an absolute clown. My red lipstick was not even on my lips. It was absolutely horrific. When checking out, the receptionist once again told me I looked "beautiful." I have absolutely no idea what she was looking at! After paying 30 dollars, I HAD TO REDO MY MAKEUP WHEN I GOT HOME! I will NEVER EVER go back to sapphire salon and I caution anyone who goes there to get their hair and make up done. I literally got in the car and had to wipe my lipstick off because it was that horrific and not even on my lips! I have lived in philly the past few years and you can trust anyone in philly to make you look great, I cannot say the same for sapphire salon. I don't even know if their beauticians/cosmeticians go to beauty school because they are AWFUL. Please take this into consideration when scheduling an appointment!! Hopefully I can post pictures The first picture I posted is the picture I showed the cosmetician. This is what I wanted my makeup to look like. The second picture is what my make up came out looking like. Please look at those wings on my eyeliner. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC! I purposely got my make up done so I didn't have to do my eyeliner, and yet I STILL HAD TO TAKE THIS MAKEUP OFF AND DO MY OWN EYELINER AND MAKEUP. Frustrated is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

Got home to color all over my ears and neck

Pictures speak a thousand words, this was supposed to be a balayage from dark roots to a light ash brown. Instead I got thick uneven and unnatural chunky highlights, and the color correction the following day equaled five more times of bleach and toner, and an anxiety attack. Pictures are from how I left the first visit slathered in hair dye all over my skin and next day over processed chunky uneven highlights. Don't be fooled by the gorgeous ambiance and building! True shit show if you're a new client.

I booked online and it was easy and convenient. The first available appt was around 3 months away so I booked a massage and Shirodhara (scalp massage). I arrived to my appt and was immediately led upstairs and shown the dressing room so that I could change into a robe. They don't offer the same sleek looking, brown robe with their logo on it for plus size customers. Instead I was given a white robe, that while comfy and oversized, seemed a little dingy. My masseuse, Raquel, was AMAZING. I enjoyed every second of my 80 minute massage. The Shirodhara was nice and Becky did a great job. Unfortunately, it left my long hair in some really bad knots so I don't think that is a service I would try again. All of the oils used in both services smelled soooo good! The atmosphere was very tranquil and relaxing. They offer some complimentary teas and water. I did book another service with Raquel -- it was probably one of the best massages I've had so I look forward to returning! Parking is available in front (street parking) or there is a small lot around back.

So I called the woodhouse because I've been there many times in my youth and remembered it as smelling like a good time. It really was. I just had a massage and it hurt. It really hurt but that's when you know it works. Aleah was so professional when I made gross sounds (not controllable and I did apologize) the place is beautiful and today my back feels like it belongs to a child. It was expensive (to what I thought, I thought an hr massage would be $100 but again I'm old and my mind is stuck in 2009) but u get what you pay for and they really deliver on that. Expanded my area search and the Spa Kalahari came up with appointment for next day, but it was $85. I usually pay $35-50, depending on service. Well I was desperate and figured since it was a spa, it would be a very upscale pedi. The space was nice, pedi chair comfortable with massage features, etc. The tech was a lovely young woman, really sweet and friendly. But the pedicure was what I can get for $35. There was no scrub, lotion, or fragrance option offered or pre-soaking with any product. The "hot towels" before polish were lukewarn and left on for about 20 seconds. The foot/leg massage was almost non-existent, a little scrub and lotion on foot only, not ankles or calves. My $50 pedi provides a 10-15 minute foot/leg massage which is heavenly. The tech said she would be leaving be some products she had used at checkout, I thought oh, that's nice, a couple of samples, but no, they were full size products they wanted to sell to me. At the end of the day my toes looked perfectly fine, but it was NOT an $85 spa pedicure service.
