I have eaten hibachi at dozens of locations around the country from many brands. I have been to other Sapporo's as well and this place was amazing! What made the experience so amazing was our hilarious and highly skilled chef Anom! He had the whole table laughing the whole night. His comedy was matched with incredible tricks and skills with his cooking utensils. He was able to spin and split an egg with incredible coordination and other cool tricks. Sapporo - Japanese Near Me - Sheridan, Wyoming

I am currently sitting in my bathroom recovering from a dining experience at this restaurant. When we first arrived, the restaurant felt a little cool. After ordering our food and waiting twenty minutes which was fine. We are realized it cold in the restaurant and asked them why it was cold and if they could warm up the place. They laughed and walked away. The food was provided and by then we were quite cold and the food was affected by the cold temperature of the room. We ate the food and the whole time trying to stay warm. All the food was of low quality and lacked technique or genuine flavor. The item of greatest concern was the spicy tuna sushi roll. I tried one piece and it old and exceedingly fishy. I talked with the manager and let her know the fish was bad. The manager stated that the fish is suppose to be that fishy and old because it is from the ocean and to just dunk it in more soy sauce and use more ginger to mask the flavor. I asked for the roll to be removed from the table and not to charge me for it. The restaurant was so cold that we received our food and ate in less than 30 min to escape the cold. Later, about 30 min later and for the last two hours my children and I have spent the last two hours recovering from eating the questionable food. Headaches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I called and visited with manager just twenty minutes ago and she stated there was nothing she could do about the bad food and the illness that my family and I experienced . She told me that we should have gone to the hospital for treatment to prove her food was so bad. I asked for refund for the purchase since the experience and food was so bad and made every one ill. She declined to cooperate and said I should have told her at the time that the food was bad. I let her know there was no way to predict the Food of her restaurant would make us sick 30 minutes later. Having moved back to WY after living in CA for 16 years I have a pretty good idea of good sushi and not so good sushi. I was a little skeptical that I could find good sushi in God's country, but imagine my delight when I found this gem! I ordered the deluxe sushi & sashimi combo. It was excellent! Surprisingly fresh and delicious! The miso soup was on point as well. The setting and service were great also. I will be back here for sure anytime I am in Sheridan. My wife had the sushi combo and loved every piece of it as well. My son had the Habachi New York Steak and it was awesome! 5 stars all around! read more

This is s hidden gem in Sheridan! My family of 5 was passing through and found this restaurant with its affordable lunch specials. The staff was efficient and everyone was friendly. The mushroom soup was delicious. The cook was really personable and skilled with the hibachi grill. The food was tasty and filling. Everyone was full and happy when we left! When it comes to sushi, the food was just okay. Not a big menu when it comes to the sushi or sashimi. The staff is very friendly and the food comes in a timely manner. If this place was in an area where there were other Japanese competition/options, it would most likely not succeed due to the food quality / lack of options....however being in WY, it seems to be a big hit due to lack of variety elsewhere. read more

High quality food and service. Steaks are great, seafood is fresh and everything else I've had has been really good. I haven't tried sitting at the grill yet, but can imagine it's even better than ordering off the regular menu. It's right next to another great restaurant and deli, so you can't lose. read more

Absolutely loved this place! The food is good, wonderful actually but........ I would maybe change closing hours to the hours that you actually close. Friday night we arrived before closing and where rushed to order because "last call" was in ten minutes. Posted on their door and on the website it states 10:30 we walked in at 9:50. We sat down and ordered quickly mind you and then as I was served my plate I was served the bill and asked to pay right away. I got my receipt and with it a box to go. All this happened all before 10:20! Would NOT recommend going anyway remotely close to this place around their closing hours. VERY VERY VERY disappointed. Habichi grill is a excellent super-friendly experience. Sushi is excellent visually, really tight in all the right places. Just a tad smelly, like a day before presentation, but it is in Wyoming it is hard to get fresh tuna. Waiters and staff are top. read more

I drive about 15 minute to get here. The women helped me on my pick up was rude and didn't know what she's doing. Fine it could be her first day. I get home and find out there is no soy sauce for my sushi. Who can eat sushi without soy. She says, you gonna come pick it up with an attitude from hell? I tell her no I don't want to pay for my sushi in the bento box and my other sushi because I can't eat it, she literally said NO THATS NOT GONNA HAPPEN AND HUNG UP THE PHONE ON ME! I called back several times and they just hung up again and again! Shame on you lady really! I spent good money and my meal is crap and u hang up?? I think I would have been happy with 6 dollars off because of the principal fact of me not eating what I paid for!! I hope 6 bucks was worth this review! If you own this and are seeing it, trust me she is a fireball and unacceptable in hospitality! and I will make sure this meal credited from my company. The second time at Sapporo was as good as the first. Tried the Hibachi Chicken and was excellent, all the extras were spot on. I was shocked somewhat to get this quality in Sheridan coming from the Houston area. Keep up the good work. read more

Just to be upfront-if you are expecting Japanese-this isn't Japanese. It's Indonesian/Chinese "Japanese-style" food. Which means they use lots of that "special sauce" mayonnaise stuff and sriracha on their rolls, versus true sushi you would expect at a Japanese owned restaurant. The rolls are very big-but have lots of filler and the one I tried was a solid D. It tasted like a baloney roll. And when you order sushi-you are only getting one piece, not the two pieces you would expect, and it runs $2.50 to $3 apiece. Sushi was pretty good for the area. The spicy tuna I'd stay away from. Instead of being freshly chopped-its a nasty paste. Not sure if its bits run through a food processor or something they buy, but not something I want to experience again. Didn't try similar with salmon, etc.. so don't know. Service was very good, although English not so much (and don't use the Japanese fish names for ordering sushi-which are also on the menu because the servers don't speak Japanese either and I think that may have helped cause the mix-up).
