Just some background... our daughter has thrown herself at water from birth. She would crawl toward the ocean as a tiny baby, repeatedly trying to get into pools whenever near. It was terrifying. So we got her in swim lessons as early as 6 months old, first at Waterworks and later at Noonan. By three, she could hold her breath, push from the wall, glide and float assisted, but ZERO SKILLS TO ACTUALLY SWIM and keep her head above water. The final straw was the day we watched as our daughter's hands slipped off the wall and she went under the water- little fingers reaching for the surface, literally drowning DURING A LESSON. The instructor had taken her eyes off for one minute, turning toward another student. It is so loud in these overcrowded indoor pools that she couldn't hear me screaming from across the pool "SHE'S DROWNING!!!!!! HELP! OMG!!!" Thankfully, my daughter had at least learned to hold her breath, which she did long enough for my husband to sprint across the length of the pool and fish her out- the instructor's mouth in awe. Imagine if we had been staring at our phones instead of watching her lesson like every other parent. It still makes me nauseous. Needless to say my kid learned to fear the water. What had once given her nothing but pleasure now made her scared and anxious. This is how we found Krista. She is absolutely unparalleled. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, the lessons are only 15 minutes. Yes, it's a weekly commitment. And YES, it's 150% worth it. The skills and confidence my daughter learned in just 2 weeks with Krista completely outshined the crappy instruction, oodles of money and time I spent dragging my kid to those other swim schools- for YEARS!! We have Krista to thank for so much more than just swim lessons- our daughter's confidence and happiness was restored and we can finally relax knowing she is safe near water.

It led to my daughter crying whenever I mentioned going to swim lessons and almost hyperventilating. We decided to cancel and switch to SwimSynergy. I really wanted to nip the fear asap so wanted to be seen the following week vs waiting until the next session. They were super accommodating and worked with our schedule to make it work for our daughter. My daughter absolutely fell in love with Krista in particular. She liked her sweet nature and went from finding swim terrifying to asking "is today a swim day?!" And being super excited when it was! After a few short weeks my daughter could actually swim. It was amazing how quick she learned after being stagnant with her previous instructor. We completed the 10 weeks and will be looking into maintenance lessons as well. After the positive and improved experience, I worried my 6 yo son may not have the same safety skills as my daughter so I had him take lessons for a few weeks and he enjoyed his experience as well. Both of my kids earned a swim medal which they were so excited about. The very first swim we did at our HOA pool after my son received his medal, both of my kids wore their medals to the pool haha. They were so proud of what they earned! We also had great experiences with the other instructors that would partner with Krista. We have friends at other pools with different Swim Synergy instructors who have also had great experiences. I enthusiastically recommend!! I don't have a fear of water but something about how my brain was approaching learning to swim and body movements didn't click. Krista and her methods work! She approaches it logically, breaking lessons down to bite sized bits, and adjusting to how she sees you learning or not learning. I had a few months of classes, and I'm not saying I can swim across an Olympic sized pool (although I might!!) but I can tread, and make it across a normal lap pool, and I can do the backstroke and side stroke. It's been amazing! These lessons made my recent Caribbean vacation so much better and made my husband worry less with my swimming ability. I loved that the lessons are in heated pools (hardest part was getting out of the pool), and that they are located in different neighborhoods so that the one closest to me was less than a ten minute drive. This has been a fantastic experience and I intend to return for some follow up lessons to continue improving my swimming in the fall. Highly, highly recommend!

(He has dyslexia and autism) And rather than try out another medication to lessen his anxiety, I wanted to target the source of his symptoms. Which meant looking for an alternative school. I am soo incredibly grateful I found Pivot and was able to transfer him in the beginning of 2nd semester. It only took a few phone calls and emails and everything was transferred to Pivot and he was able to start the next week. He's now a much happier person, no longer struggling with anxiety and depression. The small quiet classes sizes and kind welcoming students have been fantastic! Along with supportive teachers & aids. It's a super welcoming place, the students are quiet and respectful to each other. Which is not what he experienced in public schools with bullying and harassment from other students, and then nothing was ever resolved by teachers or administrators. My son attends school on campus Monday to Thursday 9am-12pm and then Friday is an only check in at 10:30am and works online that day but the school is incredibly flexible if your student wants to do online only or mix some in person classes with online work. The campus is HUGE! Not only just North county but also Riverside and I'm sure more areas. His education coordinators Gus & Alex have been a godsend, they are so kind to him and know how to work with him at his pace. Gail & Adrian (admin team) are also super friendly and so helpful with anything we've needed. My son especially likes the walking journals, where the classroom goes out on nature walks by san Marcos lake and takes pictures of the scenery. As well as awesome field trips to cool places like the History of Music & History of Surf museum. He also loves when they play volleyball in the parking lot- it's very 80s nostalgia- kids playing in the open space and yelling car when they need to stop. If your child is struggling, with making friends, feeling out of place or overwhelmed by regular public schools. Try Pivot, it's a game changer and for my family a prayer answered! This is public school also, so it IS paid for. I am happy to see my daughter actually get excited about attending and learning.
