It is a walkway that is lined by bars, restaurants with sidewalk seating, art, small, independent shops, bountiful greenery, it's always been closed to motor vehicles and restricted to buses and taxis, which has always been a nice advantage, especially in a downtown district. It is not as impressive as it once was, pre-COVID, but still a nice place to visit! One complaint from everyone is that there are no public restrooms, so f you need to go, you need to stop in to like a store like Target, or stop in at one of the many coffee shops and eateries for lunch or coffee...well, possibly that's what the intention is that there are no public restrooms...Hmmm.... I recently visited on a Sunday, my first time after so many years, to visit the Jackalope Art Fair, a downtown Minneapolis Street Festival, which started on 7th street down through Nicollet Mall and had an enjoyable time! I was already prepared ahead of time, regarding the public restrooms and parking, so I had no problems! One stop when you are here that's definitely a must is to check out the Mary Tyler Moore statue on 7th! The actual place and the statue is posed like how she did her beret toss on her show. Pretty Cool!

I was walking around here at 9am and I personally only saw characters who noticed me. As a New Yawker, I am used to walking every where and instead I decided to use the skyway towards my hotel. It is warmer and perhaps safer.

So we walked around the food court area, most of the stalls were closed. I appreciated the variety of eateries available. We spent time browsing the mini grocery area, where they sell various interesting items such as honey comb and Turkish delight. My friend bought dried chamomile flowers in bulk to make tea. It was only a quarter the price of buying chamomile tea bags! In the building were some interesting art sculptures. I really like mixed use spaces like this.

Midtown Global Market has been such a staple in my life. It does such a good job of having food options from so many cultures and parts of the world. The food is reasonably priced and the workers are all so kind and knowledgable. Beyond just food, there is a huge selection of art, groceries, clothing, and more. MGM has always felt like the ideal of what Minneapolis is and can be. I am sad to see a lot of booths closed right now. My heart aches for my neighbors and community. I hope (and know) that MGM can bounce back and continue to be a place of diverse community. Love MGM always.

While it is nothing special, it is an oasis in the middle of a bustling downtown. It's a nice place to stop and get a coffee or a bite to eat. We were lucky to find a security guard who was able to open the bathroom for us to use. My husband and I found it difficult to find what you are looking for, so I recommend using a directory.

It features a Marriott hotel, a restaurants, gyms, the Minnesota Law Center, a Chase bank and a 64 square block skyway system that connects to hotels, a 687 stall parking garage, The IDS Crystal Court, US Bank Building, Target Store, The Target Center, The Wells Fargo Building, The US Bank Plaza and The Hennepin County Government Center. FYI, the Skyway has set operating hours and does close. Parking here is simple. You can park in the connected commercial parking garage, or find a spot in one of the nearby commercial lots or metered street parking. The Center has security roving and is very clean and hip. I will admit that it does not have many retailers or restaurants though. You will find a GNC, Marshals, a UPS Store, Cardigan Donuts, the Salad Bar, City Market, Fogo de Chao, Naf Naf Grill and Starbucks. There is a lot of space available in the Center. This is not a very exciting or thrilling place and it does not have a lot going on. It is really clean and connects you to a lot of downtown attractions, without having to go outside much, which is valuable during the harsh Minnesota winters. I was staying at one of the connected hotels, so I found this spot convenient and pretty cool that I could stay inside and get to places. However, outside of staying there, the place does not have much value and if I was not at the connected hotel, I probably would not have visited.

This is still such a wonderful place with a great selection of music and so many cool retail items at a great value. Expertly curated and displayed. Still, my most favorite record store I've ever been to anywhere! Moved to California 30+ years ago and every time I'm in town I gotta take a peek and do that whole nostalgia trip in my head-if only the walls could talk, OH MY! I love the creaking floors as you walk across the showroom remembering those sounds heard in the basement packing my own orders to ensure in stock items were shipped. The cast of characters that visited and cool musicians- one day Devo came popping through handing out 3-D buttons with those flower pot looking things on their heads and strange jumpsuits. "It's not too late To whip it Into shape Shape it up Get straight Go forward Move ahead" my daughter wore my old jacket from 1979 (in picture) . The nice staff were very friendly and enamored with the jacket and the manager took some pictures which gave my daughter a huge tickle. I think the cat's name is Bob Fuchs and he's been there since the late '80s and a good ambassador of the brand and so kind to indulge us. This is a must visit if you're ever in Minneapolis set aside some time it's worth every minute!
