I've been with this bank for almost 20 years. It used to be a really great hometown bank, very…read morepersonal, they all knew your name and it was easy to get a small business loan with a great interest rate...but now it's like Wells Fargo or Capital One. Scripted replies, customer service definitely not what it used to be. High interest rates on car loans and mortgages, no matter your credit rating or how long you've been with them, almost predatory, makes you shop elsewhere with much lower interest rates. Long holds on check deposits now when checks used to clear in less than 24 hours (same employer for two decades) and always a few hundred released immediately...now, not even that. I have impeccable credit with them and a very high credit rating in general. Never overdraft. Watch my account like a hawk. Used to have a credit card with them too but the rates kept going up and offers & credit increases required pulls or a review, so closed the credit card account and got a credit card with much better interest rates through a different bank, where the limit automatically increases like clockwork, no fuss no muss. Anyway, this is not HomeTrust anymore. I may close my accounts with them...all in good standing. Personally, I think this is a phenomenon true of most all of the banks now, even credit unions. They've figured out how to make the maximum profit with the least service...down to the penny. The customer is made to feel irrelevant now. There only seems to be one good agent anymore at Hometrust, her name is Alexandria at the Asheville branch, all the good ones have moved on. If you get her, you are a fortunate soul.

I was recommended to Ozzie at Lucid Lending by my realtor for a home I'm closing on in the Asheville area on the 15th of December, so, even though I *thought* I had a good rate offered to me by another lender, I figured "hey, if they can even come close, add in being local and helping support the economy, let's consider it." ...to start with, they beat my 'good rate' by over a quarter of a percent (which is insane when rates are already as low as they are). That alone would make this a good review, but the news just doesn't end there. Ozzie and Nick have been regularly in touch with me about items for my upcoming close, helping me make sure that the details of my unique situation (moving over 1200 miles, and pretty close to simultaneously closing on selling my house in central Texas and buying the home in the area) go off without a hitch, which has helped tremendously for my peace of mind in this aspect of the next stage of my life. Lastly, as icing on the cake if you will, my wife and I have some unique situations regarding our move due to family members being brought up (one is an 11mo baby, the others are large 5yo fur babies that think they're humans too), and I was asking Nick about dog-friendly lodging for the couple days of interim between when we will be arriving in Asheville and when we'll actually be closing, and he offered to help out directly with that if it came to that.
