My fiancé worked with Sarah to make my beautiful engagement ring. I'm still in shock that they were able to make my dreams a reality without me being there. I've sent my fiancé hundreds of inspiration rings for many years in hopes he got the hint of what I would like, but working with Sarah they were able to out do my dreams and created a ring so beautiful i get overwhelmed wearing it. When I was ready to propose to my girlfriend I worked with Sarah to design and repurpose diamonds and gold. She was flexible with timing, scheduling and costs. No corners where cut and every last detail was worked out and confirmed with 100% confidence. The process was fast, comfortable and flawless. I started with a conversation and moved quickly into looking at stones and figuring out a design. From pintrest board, to concepts, all the way to a actual CAD drawing we worked on every element of the wedding ring as a team. It was a whole experience. We settled on a design that emulated a vintage ring we found (in photos) and proceeded to work with the stones we had available. Furthermore, in the process I also designed my wedding band. We discussed every aspect of the ring from materials, finish and even talked dimensions and weight. I have known Sarah for years, and have been a witness to her beautiful designs for her clients, so when it was time for my husband and I to select my wedding band, we asked Sarah if she would do us the honour to create it. I had seen a very specific channel set diamond band in London that I wanted but it was way out of our price range. We let her know upfront that this was our first stop while ring shopping, and she was so relaxed and understanding about it. She added detailed notes to our account about everything we looked at--including prices and sizing--and emailed us afterward so we could easily refer back to the information. The only downside was the limited in-store selection. It sounds like many of their designers don't allow them to carry the full range, so I'd estimate that the store has only about 10-20% of what's available online. Del still helped us work around this by showing us stones and bands similar to the styles I had liked online, which gave us a good sense of how they might look in person. At the end of our visit, I mentioned that I had almost decided not to come in because of the negative reviews about customer service online. Del explained that they had recently changed the teams at the LA stores and that the experience should now be much more accommodating for customers. That was definitely my experience. I'm also autistic, and customer service interactions can sometimes become confusing because I don't always remember to show outwardly that I'm happy or enjoying myself. Del remained upbeat, cheerful, and friendly throughout our entire visit, which I really appreciated. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have purchased as much as I have had it not been for feeling super welcomed each time I walked through the doors. I'm writing this updated review to send praise to the current Los Angeles team. Del, Maddie, Haslyn, Sabrina, and Kyran, you are all amazing. Thank you for making shopping for jewelry super fun and easy and for being so patient as it takes me at least 2-3 visits before making up my mind on pieces I'm interested in. In terms of the quality of Catbird's jewelry (and with an understanding that dainty jewelry (imo) requires a different level of care), all my pieces have held up great so far. There are 2-3 pieces that I baby a bit more, just to be safe. Will report back in another year in case it's helpful!

In our initial meeting, she gave me thoughtful advice on potential refreshes for some of my vintage and family jewelry. We settled on a redesign of a ring into a pendant necklace and earrings with details inspired by my grandmother's wedding ring. The renderings of the redesigns she shared with me are beautiful! She was also very transparent and thoughtful in discussions of pricing out different versions of the redesign. On a personal level, she is warm, friendly, and an attentive listener. It felt like sitting down with a friend to chat. I would absolutely trust her with any future projects or designs!

(As in - people now regularly stop me to ask where my necklaces and, most recently, ring are from.) Rewind: I'd inherited some lovely jewelry from family, including my mom's original wedding ring, and while these pieces held meaning, the styles just weren't for me. Kate listened to my vision, knew the right questions to ask, and walked me through her process from start to finish. With her depth of experience, Kate had already thought of everything yet she was so generous with her patience, caring, and transparency. I had many rudimentary questions, and Kate answered them all. After the completion of my 3 pieces, though well before it, Kate had my full trust. I'll be a return customer for life, and my husband already knows about Kate for future anniversaries : -)
