Time for my update!! Not only did Sarah take photos for our engagement and wedding, but I did a boudoir shoot with her as a present to my darling husband on our wedding day. I spent many hours researching what to wear and how to look sexy for this shoot. Needless to say I was very nervous and worried about my body. I knew I was in good hands with Sarah, but still, taking revealing photos in a hotel bedroom would leave any non-model a bit shaky. All my fears were for nothing. Sarah was FANTASTIC! I felt completely at ease with her. She would put me in the best poses and made me feel like a sex kitten. It was incredible to feel so sexually liberated during a photo shoot. I did get to see a few pictures from her camera and I was blown-away. I didn't even recognize myself. It was like staring at a wanton sex goddess. Sarah got the photos back to me within 3 days. Seriously...to get a set of any professional pictures in 3 days is a miracle. Fast forward to the wedding day as we are exchanging gifts. Matt opens the photo album with my pictures and the first look on his face makes everything worthwhile. I am almost at a loss for words to describe the feeling that came over me when I saw my wedding photos from Sarah for the first time. Our guests actually got a sneak peak at the reception. Sarah set up her Mac as a slide show presentation that included pictures taken from our engagement session, earlier in the day and ceremony. It was awesome to see everyone crowded around her computer, pointing, smiling and laughing. I had so many people that night tell me how excited they were to see the completed photos. My wedding package did come with photo viewing cards that gave out the gallery location, password and date they would be available for viewing. What a great idea! Throughout the big day I rarely noticed Sarah and her second photographer at all. They were never intrusive or made anyone stop and smile for the camera. We had a great time hamming it up with the wedding party photos. We ended up in a back alley, at a bar and jumping up in the air. Those unusual places created the best moments captured on film. The day we came back from our honeymoon, Sarah surprised me with an email saying the pictures were ready. She had them up in her gallery 1 week earlier than quoted on the viewing cards. She had blogged them on her website and created a web page for us that included a slide show from the wedding, with music set to our first dance and recessional song from the ceremony. I was in shock when I saw the slide show. I was laughing, crying and screaming with delight. It was like getting married all over again. All of the special highlights from that day were included! Then, I have another gift waiting... all the photos to view! Looking through all the photos, seeing all our guests in action left me with this feeling of pure delight. I have never seen real life captured so beautifully. If this long-winded review hasn't made my point clear, let me spell it out. SARAH Q IS THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE WORLD! Sarah was our wedding photographer. Overall we were quite pleased with her work. Her usual wedding photography packages are very pricey now, and were somewhat pricey at the time, but when we discussed with her that we only wanted coverage of one location (our reception) for 3 hours, she agreed to a price that was less than half of her wedding rate at the time (it was around 1/4 of what she charges for weddings now, if that gives you any idea). So she might be willing to work with you in terms of price range ... that's cool. For what we paid we got the 3 hours of shooting, online gallery for 6 months, and disc of images that we could print out, email, etc. Of course we would've gotten more "frills" if we had gone with an actual wedding package, but hey, we got what we really needed. I chose Sarah because of the incredible work that is displayed on her website/blog, and I have to say that compared to that stuff, we did not get her best work. Still much better than most of the wedding photography I see out there. But since we paid so much less than these other people did, well, I understand. My photo disc and image gallery took a bit longer than expected (gallery was up a month and a week after the wedding, disc came in the mail shortly thereafter), and I was kinda sad that there was only one picture of our reception flowers (which was a close-up of a few individual flowers so didn't actually show the beautiful arrangement from Central Market), and no pictures of our garland exchange (traditional Indian thing where the bride and groom exchange lei-like garlands, one of the few actual "ceremony" elements of our reception), but literally a whole old-school roll of film (25+ images) of 4 of my cousin's kids twirling around and blowing bubbles. I did fill out an online form pre-wedding in which one specified what one wanted documented, and I did not mention the flowers or the garland exchange though I did mention other things such as our dance and some specific portraits with different relatives, so that's why I'm not really downgrading this review (pics of my cousin's kids were not requested ... I guess I expected a few, but not that many). I guess I just figured a picture of the flower arrangements was sort of a common-sense thing (the garland exchange was probably not all that great to look at anyway and was over in a few seconds, so is not that big of a deal). It's been a little over half a year since the wedding, and I can't really remember what the beautiful flowers looked like, and nothing can really be done about it. On the other hand, I get new pictures of my little cousins all the time (from their parents) ... they aren't gone forever like the flowers are. I also wanted to mention that though no plus-size/more-to-love/overweight/fat people are depicted on her website/blog as far as I can tell, Sarah does do a good job of taking pictures of those of us who fit that description. As I said, that might be hard to figure out from looking at her stuff online, and well, half of the population is overweight, and (in my opinion) we're harder to photograph eye-pleasingly than the other half, so it's an important point. (Edit: it's now mid-April, months after I wrote this review, and Sarah has just put some pictures of a "more-to-love" couple up on her blog, so ignore this paragraph, I guess) I really do still think that we got an extremely good deal for what we paid, and we do love our wedding pictures. I would recommend Sarah as a photographer and would just caution potential customers to be sure to be very clear about what they want pictures of, which I guess is common sense anyway. read more

Sarah and her partner in crime, Henry the hubby were our wedding photographers, and yeah, so glad they were! We were so glad to book Sarah Q (just a month before our wedding) to take pictures at 2 separate locations for our ceremony and reception. She worked out all the details at our 1st initial meeting and through a couple of emails...they showed up on time to the church for the ceremony, got to the reception and already had the set up for the photobooth...and even posted our pictures online in the time she stated she would....we were so happy with EVERYTHING about Sarah Q Photography! If I could, I would give Sarah Q Photography two ratings: --5 stars for the quality of the photography--it's just fantastic. --2.5 stars for customer service--It often took multiple emails and phone calls to get a response from Sarah. I hate bad customer service, so this, unfortunately, colored my experience. I can't speak highly enough about the photographs themselves. Beautiful, saturated color; great angles; great play on light. Sarah was originally supposed to be my wedding photographer, but my fiance and I decided to scrap the wedding and basically elope, so she let us change our session to an engagement session. Very accommodating, very sweet. The contract didn't stipulate that she had to do that, but she did. But that's where things went south a bit. She said that she had three time slots available; we picked one about two weeks out. She never confirmed. I emailed. No response. Another email. No response. The day before shoot, I called both of her numbers. VM, no returned call. On the day of the shoot, I finally got an emailsaying that we were on. Good to know on the day of. The shoot was fun; Sarah is very personable and very easy to work with. We felt really comfortable with her. She told us that it usually took about a week or so for her to turn the photos around and have them posted on her online gallery. A week came and went. Two weeks. I sent an email. No response. Three weeks. I sent two more emails. No response. At this point, I was really disappointed. I don't mind that it took longer than quoted--those things happen; I get it. All I wanted was an email telling me so. The issue was was not the amount of time it took; it was the lack of communication. Three weeks after the shoot, our photos were posted--and they are beautiful. A week after the shoot, we finally got our CD. I assume this is a fluke and not standard business practice. I would like to give Sarah Q Photography the benefit of the doubt, because, as I've said, the photos are incredible. But if you are someone who likes to have everything sewn up and confirmed in a timely manner, you might want to make contact/communication arrangements with Sarah upfront. I'm a big believer in setting expectations so that no one is disappointed or frustrated or worried. read more

Sarah was fun to have around on the wedding day. She was present and organized. We never had to ask Sarah to make sure and get a picture of a particular person or moment. Sarah was the brilliant photographer at our wedding 3 1/2 years ago. I was just looking at all those beautiful and fun photos again today. They are amazing - look at her website and you'll see what I mean. I think she's one of THE best wedding photographers in town. Upon reflection now 3 1/2 years later, it's how easy going and HAPPY Sarah is that really stands out to me. Which made the entire experience at every turn a lot of fun. Since our wedding, I've remained in touch with Sarah for various photo shoots and she's still happy even now that she's so well known. She has no inflated ego - she's just a bundle of positive, intelligent, fun energy - and I think that sets her apart. She's a firecracker! Why work with people who aren't happy, especially for wedding photos when things can feel a bit stressful? Engagements and family photos - she's been great fun to work with for all of these things. This town is full of top notch creative talent in every discipline - no shortage of great photographers around here. Sarah's work is at the top of the mark and she's genuinely happy. No wonder her business slogan is "Sarah Q - Photography for happy people!". Even if you're pissy she's gonna rub off on you. Pull out some bright colors and fun outfits and pick her. If i could rate her a Zero i would. I got married in May of 2009. Its almost 7 years later, Feb 2016, and i have yet to receive my photo album. The last contact i had with her was about 4 years ago, she has refused to answer my emails. I paid $3k for her to photograph my wedding and a 30 page album. I did get my cd with photos about 3 -6 months after the wedding. Paid in total before the event. She showed. Took the pictures. Pictures of everyone EXCEPT the groom. I don't have even 1 picture of my husband alone. His bouteneir was flipped upside down for all of his pictures, a detail that should not have been over looked. This whole thing is a huge shame. This is not a day that can be redone. I look back on this day with lots of fond memories but i so wish i would have chosen a different photographer. My last communication with her was that my album was finalized. I picked out the album cover. I was told she was sending it to the printers and never heard another peep out of her. Even after repeated attempts over a year to contact her. Please think twice before hiring her. She didnt edit any of my photos. No photoshopping to fix any of the photos with my husbands upside down bouteneir. Her pictures on her we site look beautiful, sadly mine looked nothing like that style. Be prepared to not get what you pay for, like no album to look back on or share with your family or kids. It sucks. read more
