Every year as the oak pollen count in austin would rise, so would my miserableness. I basically had 2 options: 1. Take some allergy medicine that would help somewhat with my allergies, but also make me completely spacey and useless, or 2. don't take the medication and suffer. I worked out a system, so that if I was working, I wouldn't take medication and suffer but still be able to use my brain, and if I wasn't working then I'd take medication and spend my day being worthless and brain dead. Then came a third option. Katie. I always thought that acupuncture could be helpful for some things, minor things like small aches or stress. I never thought it could work for such a severe issue, like I was experiencing with allergies. Long story short, my life in Austin is a lot more bearable nowadays. I just went in for treatments a few times before the oak pollen count went up, and barely had any issues over the spring. It was amazing. She also helped with some sciatica issues and back pain, but for me the allergy treatments have been an absolute blessing. We had a family…read morevacation to go on and I knew I wouldn't be able to sit in the car for very long without writhing in pain. I called Tiffany. I explained to her about my needle phobia. I was depserate to try anything at this point. She told me she could do laser acupuncture to see if that would help. After the first treatment, within minutes, I could feel the pain going away. Within 24 hours, I could sit for hours and I was okay. Within 48 hours, I was not feeling any pain whatsoever. I continued with my treatments and haven't had any pain in my lower back since. A couple months later, I was given antibiotics by my PCM. Those drugs did a number on my digestive system. After being treated by Tiffany, everything was back to normal. I have also had chronic neck, shoulder, and upper back pain for over a decade. I've been to MDs, chiropractors (never again!), and was told by an orthopedic surgeon he needed to "fuse" my neck (after he told me I had virtually no vertabrae left!). I have not been able to "pop" my neck in years. After being treated by Tiffany just once, the pain and tension in my neck has pretty much disappeared and I barely turn my neck and it pops on its own and I can feel the pressure release. She has treated me for a medical problem I have had for about ten years where a surgery for it 7 years ago didn't do the job. I had a very painful leg problem (below the knee) almost 4 years ago, which I was told was because I needed surgery on my knee. I was told it would take care of the problem but didn't, so 10 months later I was given a cortisone shot in the knee area. I decided to see if acupuncture could take care of it so I didn't need the unbearable shots. I did and have had no leg pains since Dr. Sherry treated me for it. She has helped me with a shoulder pain problem, allergies I started 2 years ago first time in my life and for stress on occasion. All the drugs I was given before for allergies and high blood pressure, which I never had until the allergy problem, was making me more sick that sometimes I couldn't get out of bed. I had been to a few doctors who could not help me and a specialist who was very rude so I went to Dr. Sherry who did not give me the run around, actually spent time asking lots of questions, checked me and then treated me through acupuncture, cupping and herbal. I immediately went off all the drugs I was given before. My kidney and liver had suffered greatly and were weak from all the drugs which didn't work and caused me to be bed ridden often. With patience and the care of Dr. Sherry I was back to normal health. I see her every month for my allergies and take herbal as necessary when allergy season is present. I am not only much healthier but have saved so much money going to her not to mention not having to buy drugs which were bad for me and all the co payments I spent for being seen just a few minutes each time. Her office is located in an old downtown house, and massage therapists rent the other rooms. The atmosphere is calming, soothing, and very professional. There is no cold lobby, no little kids to step over - worth an extra star in my book. I'm always greeted warmly and walked back to the her treatment room. My specific complaints ranged from the common to the personal, but most importantly, she's been successfully treating my migraine headaches, minor depression, and menstrual cramps. My reliance on Imitrex and other migraine drugs has decreased 95% since starting treatment -- I've had only featherweight migraines, mere wisps of the former pain and terror. I think much of this had been a result of the spinal adjustments. She doesn't take x-rays in her office (maybe she could, I'm not sure), so the cost of an initial consultation is much less than in some sleazy shopping outlet Chiro insurance scam joint. And that's the big difference. She genuinely cares about my long-term health, and sessions are designed to address both chronic and acute complaints. The best part? There's no pain. Ok, sure, the needles sting a little bit when they first get placed, but it's no worse than stabbing yourself while sewing or plucking eyebrow hairs. Actually, it hurts less than that. She's got delicate but strong hands, because once the needles get removed (after about 20 minutes), she's able to get my neck bones back into their happy, rightful place. I feel like I've had a workout, but the very best kind. It's nice to have a chiropractor who does acupuncture, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and other supportive therapies before you get adjusted. I find I get more out of my treatments and that the adjustments seem to "stick" better that way.
