Installation was ok, but I felt like once the cabinets were in my house they didn't want to deal with me anymore. It was hard to get the refund for the extra panels and there were several teeny tiny sliver of pieces that I ordered but never received. My cabinet installer was able to create pieces to fit in these spaces (around the sink, above the refrigerator) but they were missing the factory finish, so they had rough edges. My biggest issue was that when we removed the plastic from the cabinets, the plastic coating on the larger pieces came off clean, but the plastic coating on the factory finished pieces would not budge. Even with all heart gun the plastic protective coating was very difficult to take off. It took several hours to remove the coating and even then, there was still adhesive left behind. I complained to Granite Expo and they simply didn't believe me and said of there was anything wrong with the cabinets, it was my fault. You live and you learn. Aside from the adhesive that won't come off, the quality of cabinets is good. I really wanted white high gloss cabinets and I mostly have that. I'm coming to terms with the mixture of high gloss and (sticky) matte finish on my kitchen cabinets since I have no other choice.

They sold me unmatched tile, even though they had told me they would match. The invoice actually says "Color does not match, do not sell together". Also, the tiles did not match in height! I didn't sdiscover the mistake until my contractor had already started the prep job. All Natural Stone only gave me the option of returning the tile. I talked with them by phone and in person and they said they would try to give me a "dealer discount" (10%), a pitance considering the the extra work and materials needed to raise the narrower tiles to the other height. The store never got back to me, no compensation, no apology. I would not recommend them but, if you purchase, be extra aware for bait and switch.

I dislike about 95% of the carpet out there ... but don't have the option of putting in hard floors. My pickiness was no match for Andrew, however; he helped me find that needle in the haystack. He pulled out collections that fit my criteria, throwing them on the showroom floor and having me home in on the promising ones via process of elimination. When I showed him some varieties of carpet that I liked from a company outside of The Floor Store's network, he researched them to see if their products met his standards and if working with them would go smoothly (not so much). He got an in-network vendor to send larger samples so that I could really see what various styles would look like in my home. And he walked me through the contract process step by step, making sure I understood exactly what I was signing and paying for. Once that contract was signed, everything moved quickly. Andrew checked in during installation and even humored me at the final stage, allowing me to give him a virtual tour once the carpet was laid. I would certainly recommend him and The Floor Store to anyone looking to get new hard floors or carpet. It's probably not the cheapest option, but my anecdotal evidence tells me that the service can't be beat.

Tl;dr Great price point for relatively good quality solid wood cabinets compared to other places that does mixed-MDF and costs more. My SIL recommended Granite Expo for their price point and quality. They use Milzen brand cabinets and the cabinet builder is just 2 minutes away from their store. My review is on the kitchen cabinets and the purchasing process. I shopped around at other local SF, Oakland, and Hayward cabinet shops and had a rendering made from their Emeryville location before deciding to move forward with buying from Granite Expo Oakland location. I was able to speak to a rep within 10 minutes with my rendering to place my order, we did 15 cabinets in M21 Hollis White cabinets (shaker style) and it was ready to pick up within the same week. On pick up day, we brought our truck and made 2 runs. The warehouse workers helped load in which was so helpful, and handles were included in the price. They have a lot in stock, just need time to build or can sell it to you not built if preferred for pick up. Overall a smooth purchase and the sales associate I worked with was well-versed in helping beginners like me with a consultation, and not too chatty or pressuring to up sell. Good spot for a no frills buy.
