If you're on the hunt for a thin crust veggie pizza I would definitely try this place! Super flavorful. I have no complaints on the veggie pizza; perfect cheese to veg ratio and crust is divine. Also tasted good cold the next day :) I was disappointed with the truffle pizza. I would've liked a lot more of the quality mushrooms on top for the price they charge. There's a market right in front of it and parking was a pretty easy.

Was here many years ago when another pizza place was here. First time here since Sarah's opened up and the place looks nice and had a good vibe. It's located between Sarah's Tent grocery story and a large laundromat. Service was very good. Ordered a pizza and salad. Pizza was NY style and tasty. The salad was fresh with over 20 ingredients, goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. There's ample seating, which is good since the place filled up shortly after we arrived.

I frequently drive down Oakton Avenue whenever I head west to Skokie. On my rides out, I always pass up the façade of a subtle and unassuming restaurant with a small outdoor patio. The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of an old plaza in between a laundromat and Hungarian kosher market. The lack of outdoor signage makes this place even more inconspicuous. If you don't pay attention you can easily miss this restaurant. The low-key profile only piqued my curiosity so after running a quick errand with the hubby on Saturday, I decided to pull up to the restaurant's parking lot. From there I discovered the window signage for Sarah's Brick Oven. The minute I learned of her name, I had it bookmarked for a future visit the next day. The food not only is delicious but it's also healthy. The menu sells pizza and salads with a focus on Jewish cuisine. The traditional menu sounded interesting to me so I ordered the Tunisian Malawach. It's a bit pricey at $14, after tax. It didn't come with any sides but the Malawach was divine. The Malawach flatbread is very soft and the fillings in the Tunisian Malawach burst with flavor. The sandwich is stuffed with sweet harissa, tuna, hard boiled eggs, potatoes and a pickled lemon. I inhaled the sandwich including the side condiments which consist of tahini, green olives and some amazing green schug! I would love to come back and try their Quinoa bowls and Eggplant Shakshuka. The service was a little slow but overall I thought the food and dine-in ambiance was very good.

pizza is pizza...some peoole say that. Being that this is the chicagoland area this is not the case and pizza is a pretty big deal here. when it comes to kosher pizza outside New York and MTL i have low expectations. But the pizza was quite good . i was here for my moms surprise birthday party sometimes the place you go to will have a healthy option should you chose not to have 5 slices of pizza for lunch. The salads were out of this world. there are like 4 to 5 to chose from. coffee was MEH...a standard below gas station coffee if you are at a rest stop on the Ohio Turnpike. The latte could use some work and some of the coffee in the $4. to $6 range could use a overhaul. pretty cool to get free orange juice.

Two years later, time for an update about another visit to this tastefully kitschy diner. This time just a quick cup of coffee. In the 2 years since my last review I've been several times and recall liking, fairly well, everything I've had; I recall the pizza being particularly good. I thought the coffee was ok, they use powdered flavors rather than syrup and I think the powders are sweeter (too much so) and also clump, so my last sip included a clump of it. My husband thought his espresso was very good. While they have gotten more help in the way of number of employees, they're still not the friendliest. It took an exceedingly long time just to get the coffee and there was only 1 other customer in the place, it's not like they were busy. At least they no longer leave cleaning supplies laying around. Regarding best practices during pandemic, they do have outside seating but it's enclosed so it's not really "safe".

    Blintzes !

I met a friend here and we spent four hours schmoozing and eating. Vibe was so relaxed and food was delish. Beat m and Blintes I ever had ! Nice service and beautiful decor.

Took 30 minutes to get our salads and the entries took another 20 minutes. Okay, the beet salad with balsamic dressing was very good. The Caesar was standard, it was fine. Not a bad looking place but trying to understand how they were out of two pasta dishes, the most interesting on the menu by 6:30pm, pretty early that night....wont likely be back.

I have to agree with him! ;-) - Service - from our Wonderful/Beautiful Romanian Waitress was on point; - Our water was always kept topped off and the Kitchen ran efficiently and expeditiously to deliver the food to the tables in a timely fashion; - Restaurant was busy - not mobbed; - which is a good thing. Interesting take on the Laffa - I enjoyed my meal and left with a full belly. Highlight of the Restaurant was the incredibly Judaica artwork that adorns the walls. I hope they are selling these pieces - because they were gorgeous - just lovely. You definitely felt like you were in an Israeli/Middle Eastern Restaurant - Tables were comfortable and you didn't feel crammed inside - like you would at Grill Point; But - this wasn't Grill Point (Kew Garden Hills, Queens) - Lots of Yentahs and Mitzvah boys. Enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. Enjoyable meal with great food! Price was reasonable for a Kosher Restaurant.

I haven't been to the location but have had these bagels consistently for over 10 years. The texture and flavor of the bagel is everything a NY bagel is and should be. Fluffy on the inside, somewhat crispy on the outside, and oh so thiccccccccck! Their cream cheese?! Ugh! Don't skip on it, seriously everything about this place is perfect. If you're expecting this to be interchangeable with the franchised bagel places that have spread…read moreacross the country, recalibrate now. This is not that. I've been going to New York Bagel & Bialy for over 50 years, and places like this operate on a different clock, a different standard, and frankly, a different philosophy of what a bagel is supposed to be. Timing matters. If you show up after about 8:00 AM, your odds of getting bagels at their absolute peak--still warm, properly textured, with that slight resistance on the outside and softness inside--go up significantly. Earlier can be hit or miss depending on the batch cycle, but once they're in stride, this place delivers. The essentials are all here and worth your time: poppy seed, sesame, everything, and especially the bialys. The bialys alone are reason enough to make the trip--properly done, with the right chew and depth of flavor that you simply won't find in mass-produced versions. Don't overcomplicate it. Grab a dozen. On your way home, stop and pick up a couple packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and some smoked salmon a jar of capers, a Bermuda onion--whether here or even from Walmart--and you've got a meal that outperforms most brunch menus at a fraction of the cost. This isn't trendy. It's not trying to be. It's something better: consistent, old-world, and still doing it the right way. If you're going to call something a bagel, the standard is not branding--it's process. That's why New York Bagel & Bialy on Touhy stands apart. They actually do it right: kettle-boiled first, then baked in rotating ovens. That single decision--boiling--changes the entire structure. It gelatinizes the outer starch layer, locks in density, and produces that thin, glossy crust with real chew. Without it, you don't have a bagel--you have bread with a hole. The rotating ovens matter too. They deliver even heat, which means you get the correct balance: a slight exterior crisp with a dense, elastic interior. No puffiness. No sponge. No collapse under toppings. That's the difference here. Most chains optimize for speed and shelf life, so they steam or shortcut the process. Many local shops land in the middle. This place doesn't compromise. If you care about what a bagel is supposed to be--not just what it's called--this is the benchmark in Chicago.
