The website is clear and complete about the animals at the farm. 300 + animals! Holy Cow. We decided to volunteer one morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. What an experience. We were assigned to dump old water, clean out the buckets and pools, and refill them all. For 200 pigs. Wow. Most of the pigs would walk up to you and were curious. Most of them you could pet. None of them were aggressive or scary. The farm is mainly sandy, you definitely need a good pair of rubber boots. Sometimes it's wet, sometimes there is poop. Put bug spray and sunscreen on. We watched the caretaker feed the pigs. That was a site in itself! Then we helped pick up poop in the cow/horse/donkey enclosure. I have to say, it was a great experience. Josh, the caretaker took the time to answer numerous question about all of the animals. Sign up online to give a little time. The could use your help!

We learned about the milking process, how much food they eat, how many gallons of milk per cow per day (8), AND the milking process is done by robots! It's pretty cool. The best part came at the end! Sylvan Farm and Market!!!!!! This S.C. Certified Roadside Market is AMAZING! No matter where you live it is worth the trip! The staff is friendly and accomodating! I couldn't leave without a piece of cranberry coconut cake! There is a sweet kitty named Matilda that hangs out on the porch and welcomes guests! There are Peacocks, Highland cows in the pasture and all kinds of other animals to enjoy! There is a gift shop/market with all kinds of local goods, including fresh produce, local honey, handmade candles, handmade goats milk soap ....locally raised grass fed beef! I saw signs of seasonal plants too! You name it, they have it! There is a playground for kids. An old silo that has been converted into a bar where you can grab a local craft beer or wine! Live entertainment in the evening on the weekends! AND A farmers market that is free to local craftsman every Saturday!!!!!! Do yourself a favor....take a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and make plans to go to Sylvan Farm and Market! We NEVER saw a highland cow with horns like it shows. The two that were there were babies and being bottle fed. They were very accommodating with helping with disabled people. They offered a ride in their ATV to help with the walking aspect. It's a a great concept. Execution was what did them in.

As soon as I stepped out of the truck I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. The farm was so quaint and serene, and the environment completely at peace. Walking into the store part of the farm was just like a smaller version of a farmers market. The peaches of course caught my husband's eye so we were definitely going to be taking some home on our way back out. There was so many different activities around the farm as they do big group trips and field trips for schools. We paid $11 for a gallon of hand picked strawberries and for pre-picked gallons they are $13. They will also be having a corn maze and pumpkin patch in the fall which we will have to be back for! Sunny day exceeded my expectations in what a farm should be like and I highly recommend making a family trip in the fall or for the berry season next year!!
