Love it here; my wife and I go here regularly for our South Indian cravings -- from dosas to their Thalis -- everything tastes just like I've had it at their location I frequent in Delhi when I'm in India. The staff is very attentive and we get in and out very quickly; can't recommend it enough. Usually the food is really good here but today we went for lunch and the vada and idly and even the poori seemed like they were made ahead and reheated. Kind of tough. Disappointing. We will give it another try but maybe only order dosa and curries. read more

This might have been one of my favorite Indian food meals I can remember in a long time. And it's all vegetarian? Amazing. We came with a gift card and ordered a bunch of things to try. You MUST try the Masala Dosa; just nothing like what I've had at other places. It's a paper thin crepe with potato and lots of sauces. Really unique. We also tried the Uthappam which is a lentil and rice pancake too that was delish. The aloo gobi was big and spicy -- just how I like it. And you get the picture. The service was friendly and the place is clean and bright on the inside. Overall, it may be a chain worldwide, but the menu felt unique and fresh here and the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, this restaurant missed the spot for me. The food is definitely catered to a non-Indian clientele.

Walked in in anticipation of great food (got takeout before). Despite plenty of seating in various parts of the restaurant was offered to sit right in front of the door. When asked for table by the window, was told that it is for 4 pointed back to tables right in front of the door or all the way in the back by the bathroom. Mind you, the offered table and booth in front are at least for 2, and table by the bathroom is booth that can probably fit at least 4. Asked for table by the window again, same song about 4 with plenty of empty tables. Finally reluctant agreement, but at that stage I left as did not want to risk eating the food with such treatment. read more

Saravana Bhavan has always been consistent across all of its locations through the years. The parotta korma here tastes just as good (and same) as i remember from their first location in (K.K. Nagar, Chennai) India 40 years ago. The fact that they deliver to Westchester is great. read more

This place is simply awesome and an excellent addition to Stamford. Previously one had to travel to NYC to get South Indian cuisine, but now we have it right here in Stamford. The place is pretty large and always packed. Finding on street parking is the biggest challenge as there is hardly any, and your best bet is to park in the Garage right before it. Their menu is pretty elaborate, and I have tried their Masala Dosa, which is a huge thin pancake like material with spiced mashed potatoes inside. It comes in several fillings, but the potato seems to be the most popular one. I also tried their Thali, which is a platter of several small dishes all served in small containers with a decent helping of rice in the middle. For one person, it was a lot of food, but allowed me to sample several dishes. The prices are excellent for the amount of food you get, and overall the service was pretty prompt too. Do try it if you are in the area. read more

This place easily beats out Dhabewala and Taj, both of which are very good, to become the new best Indian place in Stamford. The Palak Paneer and Onion Masala Dosa were absurdly good. It's also fairly inexpensive compared with the other Indian options on the area, even though the food is much better quality. There are still some dishes I like at the other Indian places around town so I'll still order them, but this is definitely going to be my go-to place from now on. read more

We went here recently with friends who had been to a different location and it blew us away! We were simply not prepared for the size of the dosas, seriously took up most of the table just ordering two! It was our first time having southern Indian food and it did not disappoint. Finding a restaurant with abundant parking spots in the heart of Stamford is not to be ignored when the parking fees is less than a dollar per hour. Finding a South Indian vegetarian restaurant is even nicer. Well that is saravana bhavan at Stamford, CT. For those hardcore fans, this branch lives up to the name and delivers the same quality, slightly diluted spice levels but authentic taste of Dosas, Poori Masala, Ghee Pongal, etc. the star of course is the Kasari and the legendary Filter coffee. There is plenty of space in the restaurant in both weekends and at lunch time and much later. The staff are very polite and attentive. I would definitely go there as the other New England locations are in NEw York City or New Jersey. Yes, recommend highly for those who crave for authentic South Indian food. read more
