In the past I usually went to Tandoori in Port Chester but decided to try India Avenue for a change. I was so hoping for a great dish. The Sag Paneer tonight was not to my taste. TLDR: Very flavorful and spicy without being overly hot. This review is of a delivery order. We were enticed by the 2x special on delivery through Uber Eats - used it on the bindi and naan. We began with the keema dosa, which was the weakest link in our meal. The sambar was excellent - superbly seasoned, the coconut chutney on point. The filling was too simple, just the ground lamb, it needed some vegetables. The mains more than made up for it. The Aamchur bindi (okra) was redolent with spices, neither dry nor slimy. They know how to cook okra here. The tandoori chicken was moist, and came with nicely sauteed peppers and onions. The saag paneer was one of the best - packed with spinach, well seasoned, not too saucy or rich and a very solid portion. The kerala style lamb pepper fry was also a very generous portion of well spiced meat, enhanced with peppers and coconut. Our order came with two aluminum/plastic containers of perfectly cooked basmati rice, as well as a smaller portion in the sort of kraft paper container Chinese restaurants used to use. Very generous. The naan was on the thick side, fluffy, not too buttery. Next time we'll eat there and have the masala dosa. read more

Ordered lamb kathi rolls yesterday. When opened the container today it was aloo tikki (a potatoe paste) inside the roll. (I was charged for lamb ) When I called to inform them they first questioned me in return why Am I calling them next day instead of yesterday? But instead of apologizing or accepting he said well if u told us yesterday we could do something about it but now we won't do anything. Garbage restaurant - the biggest fraud in Fairfield county. Took our money for our order, but never delivered the food. We placed our order at noon (yes, 6 hours in advance) for our food to be delivered at 5:45pm. At 6pm, we called to ask where our food was. They said it was on the way and to wait half an hour more. At 6:30pm we called again. And they said the food just left, just wait half an hour more. How many times are they going to lie about "the food arriving in 30 minutes"? They refused to issue refunds or credits to compensate us for this awful experience. We will never order from here again. read more

Grabbed lunch here based on a friend's recommendation. This restaurant is tucked away on Railroad Ave and away from the Greenwich Ave strip, so it's not an easy place to find. At least they have a parking area. Ordered the lamb vindaloo and lamb roganiosh. Made the mistake of thinking I could handle spicy and the vindaloo was more than we could handle. What a great find in Greenwich! Came up from Scarsdale to do some shopping on a Sunday and decided to have lunch. When I called to check they said they were open and kindly explained lunch is over at 3pm. We ordered the Samosa, Dosa and Gobi Manchurian appetizers. All excellent especially the Samosa with its crisp outer crust ( not greasy) and fabulously seasoned potatoes pea mixture. We then ordered a Shrimp dish (name escapes), Chicken Korma and Lamb Roganjosh. Delectable especially the shrimp and chicken...the chicken literally melted in your mouth. Our family's current favorite place for Indian. Spicy, not watered-down flavors throughout the menu. We have a good allergy in the family, and we always get very clear answers about ingredients, which has not always been the case at other restaurants. After being seated to our table, we waited and waited until a server would acknowledge our presence. As we contemplated to leave, I made eye contact with a server who then stopped and finally took our order. We ordered the chicken tikka masala and the chicken chettinad curry lunch special. The lunch special comes with a house salad, rice, and naan. We also ordered tandoori chicken as an add on for good measure. The food was quite good. The surprise hit was the chicken chettinad curry, this dish had good flavor and the gravy had some heat. The service overall was slow and inattentive.
