Consistently great food. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and keep coming back

This place was really good! It wasn't on my radar at all somehow but came to my attention when I offered to buy lunch for the team at work. The main benefit of that being I didn't have to decide what I was having for lunch. This was the choice. I like mediterranean because it tends to be slightly healthier than some other options. This place is right up my alley because of the vegetarian leaning options on the menu, which is another benefit of this particular cuisine. Having said that, there were quite a few choices for me. They have bowls, salads, soup, sandwiches, platters, I mean, it's endless. I was planning on taco bell for dinner so had to compensate somewhat with lunch and decided to build a salad. I did greens, their mix of rice and lentils, cauliflower, cabbage, pickles, hummus, hot sauce. I am not a big fan of spring mix and I wonder if maybe something hot caused the greens to wilt but they were way too wilty for me. That was not particularly appetizing but everything else was really tasty. The hummus, especially, holy shit. I could eat that with a spoon. Two of my colleagues got the jersualem falafel sandwich and raved about it. I tried some of their fries and that seasoning is a game changer. I also got the garlic dip (to eat at home, later, don't worry). I couldn't tell you what that substance is and idk if I even want to know but it is whipped lusciousness. I am also genuinely curious to know how much garlic they put in there because it literally BURNS. No concern for vampires for quite a while. Very tasty, would definitely order again. read more

Quality changed recently. (I will say, we haven't ordered recently and just ordered in may for Mother's Day so maybe it was an off day...) This was the first place recommended to me when I moved to Stamford. We loved it the first few years but tonight the quality was way off. The chicken schwarma wrap was super wet and soggy, so garlicky that it felt burning on my tongue and the chicken was very dry. It was ready over 20 min past the time it said it would be ready so we waited a while for pickup. First time we also noticed the fries seem to have MSG all over (and we've always loved the fries but MSG is a no for us). Won't be ordering again for a while and hope the quality can improve again! Fingers crossed bc it's certainly a busy and well loved local spot. read more

Layla's Falafel is a small chain of Middle Eastern restaurants that opened in Fairfield, Connecticut in 2000. It was founded by husband and wife Imad "Dino" and Layla Sakakini. Dino is a Palestinian immigrant who was born and raised in Jerusalem, while Layla is originally from Lebanon. In the late 1990s, Dino and Layla owned a national sandwich franchise shop in Bridgeport. After learning that Layla was a Lebanese immigrant, a customer asked her if she could make him some tabbouleh. She gladly agreed and this became a regular occurrence. Pretty soon, Layla added falafel and other Middle Eastern specialties to the menu. Falafel sandwiches went from being a Friday special to an everyday menu item. When the line for falafel began to stretch around the block, Dino and Layla knew it was time to bring authentic Middle Eastern food to Fairfield County. In 2000, Layla's Falafel was born. A second location opened in Stamford in 2004 and a third opened in Westport in October 2017. Over the years, the small chain has won numerous accolades for their delicious food. My family and I visited Layla's Stamford location this past summer while we were passing through the city. We have actually ordered takeout from them a number of times and had never been disappointed. This was our first time eating in. The place was filled with the delicious aroma of halal meat cooking on a spit. I ordered the "Jerusalem Falafel" (traditional falafel sandwich, served with fresh cut fries) on a toasted wrap, while my wife ordered the "Chicken Kabob Skewer". The falafel was PERFECT! Every dish we've ever tried at Layla's always has the most perfect blend of spices, the vegetables always taste so fresh, and their various sauces and spreads can't be beat. A busy Falafel place with very good food and service. People were mostly there for take out but me and my husband decided to dine in and eat the food while it was hot. Their lentil soup was very comforting and homely. The wraps and the hummus were also very delicious. A definite go to for a quick bite. read more

Sooo...Went their today after my company had a CATERED lunch from them and it smelled good! So I decide to go for lunch on my own to have a quick peaceful lunch! Ordered the lunch special and it came with soup! Tell me whyyyyy!!!!!!????? Did the soup have a long piece of hair in it! Disgusting and I will NEVER GO BACK! Also the cooks don't care they were throwing the food around in a very sloppy don't care kind of way! Maybe they are not paid enough to care! But me....i will never go back they can have it! SO SO GOOD! You essentially can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I was feeling the goodies in the deli case so I essentially made a meal of all the vegetarian items there, with a side of mujadara. My fam got a chicken platter with baba ganoush and pita. EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD! The service is great, no frills and relaxed vibe inside, great prices and tons of options for any diet. Absolutely delicious. The service was so fast and the food was so fresh and authentic. We were looking for a quick lunch during a road trip and this stop was perfect. It was about 1pm on a Tuesday and we ordered, got our food and ate in about 35 minutes which was awesome. There's only a few tables in the restaurant itself to eat, but it's clean and cozy. read more

Friendly and efficient person manning the cash register, got us menus, and after we ordered and sat down, plates and cutlery. Nice vibes, limited seating, clean bathroom. Now for the food: the seasoned fries are out this world, top-tier and a must get! I ordered the lamb platter, the lamb was really good and the hummus was decent, a drop too lemony for my taste. The portions are insane here, come hungry. six of us were looking for a place to stop and eat, before most of us drove back to Hartford. The apparent Manager/owner was taking non-stop take-out orders...a good sign. We sat, and were given menus. Among the several items we selected were Lentil soup, Hummus, Chicken and Lamb Schwarma, and Falafel salad. Everything was mad to order, with two to three cooks hustling to keep up with the demand. The freshness could not be denied. Neither could the amazing flavors. The spice blends of everything were pleasures to the nose and mouth...and the portions were very, very good. I wish they would open a franchise in Bloomfield, because it's a long drive to Stamford! read more

The falafel is crispy on the outside, and soft and moist in the inside. It's not too oily. I love it. When my husband goes to Stamford, I always make sure he stops by for the falafel. The KIBBEH is also good. The meet one is weird (maybe I'm just not used to it) because it's meat with cinnamon (it seems). I like the vegetarian one. It's spinach with a really delicious creamy like sauce. read more

I ordered: Kibbeh ($4/ea) - delicious but expensive, needs to come with lime or lemon Meat Pie - (~$3.50/ea) - skip, bland tomato ground beef spread on a small (5"?) fluffy naan flat bread Beef Shewarma wrap - (~$12) - BIG disappointment ... chippy tough overcooked beef, no lamb of note ... asked for hot sauce - but none included, asked to exclude pickles - but they were included ... wrap got soggy within 14 min drive home ... never ordering again In the future, I'm sticking with my standard order of lamb kebob platter which is delicious! read more

I went to this place more than a handful of times. The first three times I kept getting the same wrap it was so good and consistent. As I try different things on the menu. Didn't take pictures unfortunately but the food here is delicious! The hummus is some of the best I've ever had! We ordered a side container of it to enjoy the next day and it was gone fast. The Arabic Schawarma is soooo good! Think gyro but on a wrap that's been grilled to a toasty crisp perfection. The side hummus and lemony sauce are sooooo good I can't wait to get it again! Great Middle Eastern food which is also halal and with vegan options. Besides falafel, they have shawarma and grilled meats. I had the beef kibbie, chicken shawafel wrap, and a mixed shawarma plate. The kibbie is like a samosa or fried dumpling, crispy on the outside and filled with meat. It was very delicious. The chicken shawafal wrap contains chicken shawarma and smashed falafels. Very good! Made better if you use the included garlic spread (it's very strong though). The falafel was very soft and tasty. The mixed shawarma plate has chicken and beef. It comes with humus, salad, rice with lentils, bread, and garlic sauce. Also very good, but I found the beef a tad too salty. The food is very filling. I was able to eat my wrap for two meals, and the platter could easily be two servings. read more

We have always heard great things about Layla's Falafel, so we were thrilled when we finally had the opportunity to stop at their Stamford location. In just a couple bites, we knew they were high in the ranks of the middle eastern spots we've dined at in the state! The lamb was so tender in the Shish kabob platter, and the hummus and garlic dip were both so flavorful. I loved the Layla's bowl option, where I ordered the "shwafel" - half falafel, half chicken shawarma. The prices were reasonable, and the staff brought out our food so quickly. Layla's Falafel was #25 in 2022's Top 25 Places to Eat in Connecticut. They have locations in Stamford, Westport and Fairfield. Family owned and operated since 2000! 22 years! Think Middle Eastern Cuisine- of course their falafel is a must try as well as their Bowls and Kabobs! My favorite- Chicken Shawarma Wrap- marinated grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, pickle, garlic dip and tahini. I love the garlic dip! It is so good! Shout out to Manager Alex from Layla's Falafel for the Shawarma lesson when we visited. Did you know? Shawarma is meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie also called a spit. Pro tip- save room for the baklava! Came for a quick lunch. This is a small restaurant with about 5 tables and a small counter . We are in but I could see it is mainly a take out place and a very busy one at that. The woman at the front of the house is very friendly , efficient and accommodating. The food is fresh , tasty and potions are a good size . My falafel was excellent and I know falafel! I had the make your own bowl for $16 , with lots of choices/ options: rice or salad for base, 1 protein , 2 dips, unlimited toppings and dressing. I enjoyed the dish however next time I would ask for the dips and dressing to be on the side , as it was just a lot on a plate and hard to appreciate each thing . The humus and pita appetizer is a lot and good value at $8. It comes with a pint of humus and 3 of their fluffy amazing pitas! Lots of vegetarian options , lots of various salads, and they have dessert as well. There is a small parking lot , which was filled at first , making parking difficult, but we went around the block and there were spaces available at that time. So don't be discouraged , you'll get a space. read more

Delicious ! Layla's Falafel in Stamford CT is the place to go for Mediterranean cuisine. They've been around for years, I tried their food in the past and it's still great. Located in North Stamford, it's far but worth the drive. I opted for seamless delivery tonight & it was worth it. After checking the online menu, I decided to try : 1) Mazza Platter Deluxe = falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, middle eastern salad, 2 stuffed grape leaves & a pita 2) Chicken Kabob Platter with salad, rice mixed with lentils, hummus, garlic dip & a pita 3) Baklava for dessert The Mazza platter was amazing - it's a great combination platter - offers a wide selection of menu items. Loved everything - highly recommend the hummus, baba ganoush and the "fluffy" pita. Falafel was delicious too, but I think the dips and pita combo are exceptional. If you can't decide what to order, order the Mazza platter. The Chicken Kabob was delicious; I really enjoyed the lentils mixed in with the rice - it imparted some added texture/ crunch. Next time I will order an extra pita & some yogurt cucumber sauce. The Baklava was flaky & not too sweet. Next time will order 2 or 3. Layla's Falafel delivery post-covid is just as good as ever. Proof that you don't have to go to the city for five star food - there 's plenty of great restaurants in the suburbs (as good or better than the city) you just have to know where to look. read more

The food here is always so good, filling and fresh. I love making my own bowl with everything on it. Delicious. I frequently pickup or get delivery from here and it's always good. I love their chicken kebab, always tender and juicy (except one time when I had to reheat it and it was tough). But I also love their roasted cauliflower. They need it as a side!
