The produce I have bought has sometimes lasted an entire week and not gone bad. To tell you the truth, I have bought produce from an actual produce store and it went bad the very next day. I also like this store better than Aldi. Fairless Hills needed this store, I needed this store! People that work there are very kind, very personable. The store is very clean and quiet. The store is very organized. My grandson loves shopping there because they have small "Shopper In Training" carts. I went 3 times in 1 week once. My new guilty pleasure!

They have many varieties of Turkish and Arabic coffees, Arabic teas, Turkish spices, Turkish delight, Turkish cheese, kunefe, homemade baklava, feta cheese, lots of yogurts. They have a large variety of chocolate from Europe and Middle East. I got some helva and I was surprised by the few different varieties they sold. They had a lot of dried lentils and other dried grains. It looked like they had a good-sized meat area as well but I didn't get any meat this time. I'll have to try it next time.

I've even had 2 of them refuse tips when helping me load up an over-sized item. Three times, "here this is for you", and they simply don't want it. Must be something about the PA water. In NYC, that tip would be gone...so gone. Some of the upsides here are the cheap and delicious rotisserie chickens for $5, the big and heavily discounted selection of name brand kids clothing, the convenient gas station close by (not the cheapest around, but pretty cheap), and the burgeoning selection of organic foods. As for negatives, Im getting a bit steamed about the Made in China food items which are popping up at BJ's (and in wholesale stores in general) more and more. The branding is also making it quite hard to spot at a glance. For example, I recently bought a USDA Organic bag of pine nuts from the Belle Sole company. I figured Made in the USA, maybe Italy or Mexico. Nope. China. And they tasted horrendous. So bad, that I actually had to return it. It's also not just the pine nuts. I've also seen frozen fish, noodles, Asian dry goods, Asian frozen dinners, and soybeans, all from China. I don't mind food from Asia or overseas, but it really is controversial to stock food from China given their legacy of worker exploitation, pollution concerns, criticisms about the quality of organics sourced there, and scandals with food contamination. Further, what the hell, how is it cheaper to import noodles from China than to make them here at home? It's basically flour and eggs in a plastic bag. BJ's can't find an American company to do that? I don't know, there's something very wrong with that scenario. It certainly feels shortsighted and greedy for companies like BJ's to import food from China. However, since my hardline stance is outweighed by my kids love their Frigo cheese sticks, I'll almost certainly be back (unless they start to make them in China, I guess).

Melvin was checking out a senior gentleman in front of me and he was patient when answering the customer's questions. Melvin took his time and treated the customer with genuine care and extreme KINDNESS! When it was my turn Melvin was just as kind. When my transaction was done I ran to look for a manager so that I could compliment Melvin's work only to find out that Melvin was the manager! I made sure I thanked Melvin on my way out and I hope his managers/supervisors commend him for a job well done! Did I say he did everything with a smile!!!! Thank you, Melvin!!!

My pops used to say it was the only sausage he would grill that wouldn't make a crazy mess. They share a parking lot with the other businesses in the shopping strip so you'll have no issues parking. The staff was nice and knowledgeable of their product. The owner walked by a couple of times and couldn't even give me a good morning, but a regular walked in and he greeted him. Guess I need to visit more often? I stopped in to grab some hot fennel sausage, but wound up walking out with a lot more. A lb. each of Smoked Kielbasa, Jalapeño and Cheddar, Broccoli Rabe and Sharp Provolone joined the hot fennel. Expect to pay $12 and change a lb. which is pretty typical for a meat market. That's pretty nuts considering you can buy a lb. of Premio for around $5-$6 from a grocery store. You can also buy bulk sausage for say a lasagna which I did. My wife likes to mix their mild and hot when she makes hers. They also sell fresh and frozen pasta, sauces/gravy, some antipasti, bread and pantry items like Centro branded ingredients and Italian sweets. I grilled my sausages around 350 degrees until they reached temp and they were delightful. The smoked kielbasa is already cooked so I warmed that up for 10-15 mins in an oven and served with cheeses and pretzels/crackers. Everyone who got a taste loved them. Gerome's is a nice spot to treat yourself once in awhile. You're going to spend more money, but honestly the sausages aren't a greasy mess like the bigger brands. The hot fennel could be hotter in my humble opinion.
