I'm stuck between a 3 and 4 stars for this place because I would like to say that the food was decent for food at a food court inside a mall. My husband and I had little time to spare to go anywhere else for something quick, and we didn't want burgers. We ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box and it had a nice sampling of food for us to share and pick from. The sushi wasn't bad and neither was the Teriyaki chicken. I also bought some spare shrimp tempura, which was surprisingly good. If pressed for time again and needing to eat inside the mall, I might choose this place again for the box special. The only thing I didn't care for and wasn't too surprised was the service. Lack of communication in the English dept., and a bit on the rude side. I agree with the current overall rating of 3.5 stars based upon my lunch experience. The chicken bento box included a generous portion of teriyaki chicken, plenty of my choice of rice, a garden salad w/ ranch dressing, three dumplings and four pieces of California roll for $9.19, which was pretty fair. I opted for the fried rice instead of steamed rice (add $0.50), but regretted the choice, because it was unusually soupy. Next time I'll go with the steamed rice. Also, the teriyaki sauce was somewhat bland. Everything else was pretty good, while the service at the counter was just accommodative. I'm rounding down from 3.5 due to the soupy fried rice and mediocre service. read more

They have decent food but honestly a rip off. They charge more for beef teriyaki but the serving size of the beef compared to the chicken is pathetic. They are charging more for less food. Veggies are included but if you don't get them they serve you even less for the same price. I rejected and immediately got a refund. Won't go back there again. read more

I think it was his eyes. I think his eyes were what lured me closer. He was an older man, giving samples and he had a warmth about him. I wasn't really sure what to expect. It's mall food and the bar is set fairly low. After all, it's not exactly upscale dining. I honestly don't know why I strayed from my mall usual pizza but I am glad I did. I got a combo plate. It was fresh and the noodles and beef were so yummy! The servers were nice and helpful. I had plenty of questions since it was my first time. They were patient and kind to me. They could tell I was a bit overwhelmed. I had not expected to be presented so many tasty choices. The combo plate was just that- a little of everything. I liked the variety and the freshness. The servings were more than adequate. Very generous portions. There was a steady stream of customers and that is always a good sign. As I ate my delicious meal and people watched, I could see him giving our samples. What a delight to watch him work and to realize he had lured me in for a terrific new dining experience. read more

This is inside the Oak Park Mall food court. I love the chicken teriyaki here and their bento box meal. They are very quick on making the food and it is cooked on the hibachi grill. They have the coupon stamps for when you purchase 5 Teriyaki meals, you'll get the 6th one free. It's great when you come to the Oak Park Mall because you can order it often after shopping. I redeemed the free meal this time since I have five stamps. I would highly recommend if you are a chicken teriyaki lover! read more

My Favorite Asian food chain hands down. This location is 30 minutes from my house, but every time I'm near Oakpark mall I make sure to hit up Sarku. These can only be found in malls I've never had it outside of one. The food is always fresh and made to order. The teriyaki chicken is my fav off the menu. The sushi is always fresh and the staff is always good at getting you in and out the line. Everybody had their fav mall food and this just happens to be mine. read more

Sad excuse for Japanese food. Lets just say I know a bit about Japanese food and I know "mall Japanese food". This was pretty bad at even that. All began great with a free sample of teri-chicken as we walked by. Then we tried to order and the girl just seemed confused by any questions asked. If you don't know for sure what you want, just pick something off of the menu and speak it word for word. Otherwise you'll get random charges on your receipt for things you didn't order. Then if you ordered sushi with your bento beware. The sushi rice was complete mush. Definitely below grocery-store grade sushi (if in Hawaii, this would even be below gas-station-grade sushi). Then if you got the Teri-beef you might as well have gotten the chicken BC the beef tasted like chicken and overcooked. The chicken was better tasting. This is mall food. For what it is, it's served hot, tasty and fresh. The serving is huge, the staff is busy and friendly, the line moves fast. It's funny to see a few "mall food critics" posting such negative reviews. Look, a high end sushi joint this is not. For high end sushi, go to a high end sushi restaurant and pay quadruple. There is a huge sign advertising their "teriyaki chicken special" overhead for $5.79 which is what probably 99% of customers in line get. I've enjoyed their food in the past but didn't have them regularly. Then the symptoms of a food allergy started while vising another local Japanese restaurant over the summer (Sakura). I thought maybe I just ate something that was bad. Until I ate here at the end of September. Within an hour and a half after eating here I was in the hospital with anaphylaxis for the first time ever. After allergy testing came back negative for common allergens, my doctor and I individually contacted the company for a list of ingredients to test. Despite several attempts, all I received was a generic food allergy chart from their corporate office. I sent another e-mail to explain that I was already tested for the 8 common allergens and it was negative. I didn't want recipes, just ingredients. No response. No response to my doctor's many phone calls either. It's clear it was a severe food allergy to something in their food and I'm incredibly disappointed that they would not return meaningful correspondence to my doctor or myself. I still do not know what caused my anaphylaxis and have a needless amount of stress over encountering the trigger again. I do know that I will never visit this restaurant again and will/have passed along my experience with their level of customer service to family, friends and anyone asking for a recommendation. read more

They used to give you a good amount of chicken when you asked for double chicken. Now they barely give you any and they raised the price of the plate. Just today i got a chicken teriyaki double chicken and the lady serving proceeded to give both of us same amount of chicken even tho i had double. There is a pile of chicken and assorted vegetables constantly on the griddle, so you can watch everything being prepared freshly in front of you. Prices are very reasonable, with rice, chicken and vegetables for $4.99. The same goes for sushi, with the majority of the 6-piece rolls around $3.99. The line is long around noon, but you get through in around 10 minutes. The food itself is one of the tastier choices in the mall, but about on par with Panda Express or the expensive Ruby Thai. read more

The Department of Health needs to visit this place. I ordered a California roll and when i got it there was only imitation crab on it. I questioned it and they said they were out of cucumber and avocado and I couldn't get a refund so I paid full price. I asked if I could at least get ginger to go with it and the Styrofoam container with the ginger also had a cracked raw egg in it... Never going back its absolutely unacceptable. read more
