This is another local gem of a market in the Laurel Highlands of PA. I was staying about 8 miles from this location looking for a few things to stock the fridge back at the cottage rental for the week. They have a nice selection of different cheeses, fresh eggs, milk and lots of snacks, sodas and a deli counter as well! The employees were very friendly, and the cashier even wished me a Happy Father's Day on my way out! Downstairs, you can visit the liquor store, and the beer store to stock up on adult beverages. The guy working the beer cooler down there was super friendly, and they have a firefighter's boot by the register to collect money to help out the local firehouse and all the guys serving the community. He, too, also wished me a Happy Father's Day and thanked me for my business. Nothing like patronizing a local, small business in a very tight knit community. This place does everything right, and the entire layout of the premises is really cool. It also looks like they've got enough private space downstairs to host some events and cookouts, and I'd like to be around there some time for that. Sarnelli's Pulled Pork BBQ. Can be found in the freezer section in the back of the store in quart size containers. Can't compare to the quality of G&D Market's pulled pork bbq which is just down the road approximately four miles. PROS: Handy to just heat up or eat cold. Price I paid was $9.99 which was $3.13 less than the competition down the road (G&D Market) for the same size. Not sure if that was a sale price or regular price. Taste wasn't bad, sweet. CONS: Too much fat through the entire portion. Maybe that's why it was less expensive. read more

The man working the beer cave is so friendly and helpful and hilarious that it doesn't matter if you have to wait a little; your service when you get will be absolutely top notch. We stopped to grab a quick lunch bite. I asked the woman behind the deli counter if they had any premade sandwiches and she pointed to a Turkey and Italian sub. When I asked her if she would cut the Italian into two pieces, she literally threw it back at me when she was done. Hands down the rudest business employee I have dealt with in years. Sarnellis is the lifeblood of our community, it services everyone from the locals here to the tourist that stop there every weekend on their way up the mountain. Lisa is an amazing owner/manager in the whole family cares about this place so much! The place is so busy that it keeps everything very fresh, they've made us feel so welcome since we've moved here. Not being from the area, I'm not sure what else there is in way of grocery stores, but I was surprised to find Sarnelli's to be so small. They are definitely a grocery store, but the size and selection is reminiscent of a convenience store. To be fair, the selection is a bit better, and they do have a deli, but don't expect to find a specific brand you want. For many items there were only one or two choices and we couldn't find some things at all (like cottage cheese), but the staff was friendly and the hours are great! They had some local food, maple syrup and baked goods, but most of the food was brand names. Its a good place to stop in and pick up something for a meal, but I expect you'll need to find a place to supplement the items you buy especially if you have specific tastes. Overall, it was a pleasant experience; I felt good supporting a local business and dealing with friendly knowledgeable staff. read more

One of the first times I came in here some blonde bigger girl tried stealing from me. I got my items and was checking out and paid with a credit card. I got ice cream for 1.99 and donuts 3.35 and a pack of cigarettes which were 5.79. I didn't look at the receipt but on the way out my boyfriend checked it (like he always does) and he said how'd the bill come to 20 dollars? He didn't have his glasses on so I looked at it closer... and it had taxable item 3.00 taxable item 5.00 grocery item 2.25 and one other one taxable grocery with some amount then our donuts, cigarettes and ice cream. I went back inside and asked her about it and she was whispering saying she was sorry and that her and the manager were practicing something on the register and must have left it up. She asked us if we wanted cash back. When we were talking to her she told us not to talk to loud. Well the manager came out and asked her what happened and she said she didn't know. The manager fixed it with my credit card. On the way out the blonde hairs boyfriend was outside and asked us if she got in trouble. Clearly he , knows she steals from customers, about ten dollars at a time and keeps the cash out of the register( since she asked us for cash back). One of the next times I came in, the blonde hair girl and some new girl we're clearly whispering about me and my boyfriend.. we decided to get ice cream ( which isn't priced, like everything else in there) when we were checking out I paid for ice cream and cigarettes on my debit and my boyfriend said he was going to pay for his ice cream on his card and get him cigarettes down the road. I paid for my stuff then when he paid for his the brown chubby manager was rude and said he couldn't pay for his ice cream since it was with a debit card and under five dollars and suggested he get something else like cigarettes. He said no and put the ice cream back and yelled at us saying well I didn't know u were paying with a card! My boyfriend didn't care he wasn't rude just didn't want the ice cream. The thing that disgusted me the most was when we were walking out she was talking about us with customers,saying well I'm not a mind reader! Know this was long sorry but long stories short three main parts are.. 1. They steal- watch your credit card bill for taxable items. 2. Nothing priced no big deal if.... 3. They didn't try talking you into buying other stuff and... ARE RUDE AND TALK AbOUT U TO CUStoMERS! Never will go there again and have a lot of family that won't!!!! read more

From out of town after just taking a trip down the yough river. Heading back to Pittsburgh I stopped in really quickly to grab a tin of snus since mine got wet along with the rest of the clothing I had on me. So I did walk In the door (where I politely held the door open for an elderly local woman) without a shirt on, because mine was literally soaked. The cashier allowed me to sit there and wait almost to the point where I was next in line before somewhat brashly, telling me I couldn't come any further into the store without a shirt on while I stood at the counter where the chew was?.... I went out grabbed my shirt and cane back in, and then I'm told they don't have grizzley wintergreen, which has to be the most common chewing tobacco. So I just walked out and told her to forget about it. I guess I understand the no shirt policy but at the same rate I don't know what precedent she was setting by sending me out to grab a drenched shirt and making me come back in for something she wasn't even able to provide me with. read more

I love that it's a family owned store, but the mother is very rude. They also hire rude staff. You never know what you're walking into. The twins that work downstairs are always nice though. Stuff is also priced high. But they have a good variety of stuff. read more

Exceptional store...Exceptional Service...Exceptional Convenience! I found the staff to be helpful and exceptionally friendly, which made my trip even more memorable. The food that I purchased from the deli was beyond delicious! I think the chicken was the best I ever tasted! I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the Sarnelli family also operates a beer distributor business--below the market...Again, the two brothers who manage the business were courteous and welcoming...I also found the prices to be the best in the area. I will certainly frequent this business again...especially now that I know all that it has to offer...Thank you! read more
